GUILTY NM - Renezmae Calzada, 5, found deceased, Rio Arriba County, 8 Sept 2019 *Arrest*

He demanded sex from Maestas in exchange for seeing her own children. I fear everything that could have happened to Renezmae. I do think he took his anger out on this beautiful little girl. He seemed to revere his son. :(

And yet, after the beatings and sex abuse of mom, NM court still gave this sorry excuse of a human 50/50 custody of defenseless children. No wonder they are #50 in treatment of children if this is the way they respond to spousal/child abuse.

Wow - what a terrible mess. I cannot believe he switched schools on little Renezmae - this poor Mom must have felt helpless IMO. I'm fearing this is going to turn out to be a punishment against the mother. JMO

ETA: spelled her name correctly :(

I think maybe hurting Renezmae (in his mind) was the ultimate way of punishing the mom. :(

The news video clip at this link has helicopter views of the searchers on the river at approximately :30 - 40 and :50 - 1:15.

FBI takes over investigation into Española girl’s death

That river is flowing, especially in the shots with the speed raft.
Moo

Note: the “y”, also note person walking in shallow water..some parts from various shots of the river look much deeper and wider than others, etc.

Also noting from previous article iirc that they searched “2 miles” of the river, moo.

That, I don't know. There are no swimming holes as there is an abundance of places to swim or play in [clean] water in the mountains nearby. I'm not an angler either and I don't know the fishing spots or river access within the town limits. If I remember correctly, there is no public access below the Santa Clara Bridge across the stretch of Santa Clara land with river frontage. They are VERY protective of their land.

Google Maps

"The pueblo is located about a mile (1.6 km.) south of Española on N.M. 30. Visitors to the pueblo must check in at the governor’s office. Photography, sketching and video recording permits are available throughout most of the year but are not available on feast days."
(some tribes in NM will not allow ANY picture-taking on their land)

Noting for reference from above:

“If I remember correctly, there is no public access below the Santa Clara Bridge across the stretch of Santa Clara land with river frontage. They are VERY protective of their land.”

ETA:
AB doesn't bother me! lol
No recreational access points.
No boat ramps.
No docking areas.
I've never even seen a raft or an inner-tube in this area.

I'll just come out and say what I've been hinting at (tried to be nice!): Once the Rio Grande enters the Espanola Valley, it becomes a nasty, dirty, muddy, slow moving waterway that is only good for {{{certain anglers-KWIM?}}} irrigation and wildlife (and hydroelectricity at the dams) and continues that way all the way to where it leaves the southernmost state line into Texas. It is the lifeblood of the state but not a good "recreation/play in" waterway after it leaves Taos Canyon except at White Rock Canyon (I've never been there), Cochiti Lake, Elephant Butte Lake, Caballo Lake and Percha Dam. I would not even put my toes in that water anywhere near the town limits of Espanola and I certainly would NEVER eat a fish taken out of there!!! [I grew up in the Sierras: the crystal clear waters of the North and Middle forks of the American Rivers were my playground]

I found this:
"The National Monument ends where the river leaves Orilla Verde and passes the village of Pilar, on Hwy 68. The 6-mile long Racecourse stretch of whitewater starts at Pilar and ends at the Taos/Rio Arriba County line. This is followed by the 7-mile long Bosque (“cottonwood grove”) stretch, to the point where the river enters the broad Espanola Valley. The Bosque offers placid floating. The river passes to the west of Santa Fe in White Rock Canyon, which ends in Cochiti Reservoir. From this point on, the river is very de-watered and of little interest to recreationists. What is left of the river leaves New Mexico just north of El Paso, Texas."

There’s a lot to note above, thank you AB.

We had a case here recently with “dams”.

Marking everything from the above post including
“hydroelectricity at the dams”.

Also: 7-mile long Bosque (“cottonwood grove”)

Yes, how dare mom defy his control by getting away from him. The only thing he had left to control/hurt mom was the children. Disgusting man. I'd say more, but I appreciate my posting privileges here.

The "Y" is probably the Rio Chama, which converges with the Rio Grande North of Espanola.
(I'll look into it further)
Note: The Rio Grande is ALWAYS flowing except sometimes below Percha Dam South of TorC.
(sorry if I gave the opposite impression)

ETA: Upon further review of the video, that is NOT where the Rio Chama & Rio Grande converge. It looks to just be an island further down stream.

Before you put any research into “hydroelectricity at the dams”, that would be at Elephant Butte in the more Southern part of the state, no where near Espanola.

The autopsy should show how many days she was dead.

We will see. With the water aspects...

Cool thanks :)

Also: 7-mile long Bosque (“cottonwood grove”)
Re also of note: Bosque

SBM
"In what is known as the Middle Rio Grande Valley, in central New Mexico, grows a large cottonwood forest, more commonly called The Bosque. Gnarly, twisted cottonwood trees (Populus deltoides wislizenii, spp.), the Bosque's dominant species, grow all along the river."

I was really surprised that the river gave up her body so easily due to the cottonwood trees and their infringement into the river/riverbed, especially with the amount of flowing water we saw in the videos. MOO

As far as the autopsy showing how long RC was dead, that could be anywhere from Aug 29th to Sep 11th, according to the sketchy info we have now.

Anyone know if they will release cause of death/autopsy results? FBI is involved I think so not sure - Thanks

Renezmae Calzada’s schoolmates wrote her letters and created a banner, saying they love her. The kindergartener’s body was found yesterday in the Rio Grande. ⁦@krqe

Heartbreaking. Kindergarten Class!! :(

How can little ones even process something like this?

:( :( :(

Grrr

ETA: Gosh I’m wondering now how school officials, teachers, parents, etc actually broke it to the kids, what exactly they said. I would imagine it was carefully and gently. I know a little about this aspect from experience, unfortunately. They’re so young. I hope they didn’t say someone killed her and dumped her in the river...:( What could and would they say? They’re so young....:( It would have to be something like “Renezmae will not be coming back to class...she has gone to Heaven” (but then that borders on “religion in the schools” and some aren't into that so idk..)...it would be the parents’ role imo to decide how exactly to tell the kids, moo, to answer their questions.

ETA: sorry for drama but now I’m balling thinking about this, (as a former teacher of little ones), how the heck you tell your entire class of kindergartners...

:( :(

They are doing exactly what they should be doing. Drawing pictures and telling Renezmae. they love her.

:(

ETA2: yeah Pommy, I think the kindergarten class drawings might have done me in on this one. Might need to take a break here. Going to finish up reading and then take a break, please let me know if LE has a PC or releases any other information. Tia. :(

I feel honored to be in such a caring group here, people who care about kids...some people use their internet resources and time to do other things.

I'm familiar with bio, step, adoptive, boyfriend, etc. but I've never heard of "Acknowledged Father." News to me! o_O MOO

(It’s bugging me, we had this is another case a long time ago iirc, can’t remember for the life of me which one.)

FBI only seems to release info when they want something from us (10 most wanted list, etc), not when we want something from them.

Few answers in Española girl’s death

There is WAY too much to quote at this article, but it explains the last 4 years of Renezmae's life with Victoria and Malcolm.

*must read article*

Thank you, this article has sooo many important things mentioned. The picture is becoming clearer.

So sad! OMG this guy!:mad::mad:

JMO—somebody wasn’t able to take out his anger and violence on the mother anymore and now he had those kids half the time.....MOO

Agreed

I take comfort in the fact he is only 5'4" and 125 lbs. Jail/prison will give him a first hand lesson what it's like to be preyed upon by animals twice his size.

Mean, I know. But I have no regard for men who beat innocent women and children.

I love this post. Nothing I love more than a bully put in his/her place (not to mention domestic abuser and potential child killer).

With the FBI handling the case the usual M.O. is that we will get very little information from them.

I have to wonder if MT had any ulterior motives for wanting to keep Renezmae from her mother.

And why did he change her school?

I wonder if he was sexually abusing her. Moo.

Well....if he was extorting sex from the mother, it would appear that sex is a high priority for him. Make of that what you will. He's a piece of filth.
