From my point of view they are nailing the coffin shut on their client. This line of questioning, unless going somewhere else, is making Mr. Chavez look manipulative, controlling, and a sexual robot! So it is not working for me!

I agree. I am just floored by this guy.... but I am not surprised that this is who Chavez has representing him, so I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't court appointed.

I read his website!! Sounds like a great lawyer if you are a CRIMINAL.

Judge admonished state, defense, and witness to keep it serious. He noticed giggling.
On another point, I think the prosecution just let Serna continue because he sure wasn't scoring any points for his defendant! Serna probably hurt more than helped his client with his questions and follow up comments to the witness.

This witness has been admonished at least once by the judge today. If he is not careful all of his testimony will be stricken and he will face contempt charges.....He brought a lot of useful information to court so I hope that does not happen.....I wonder if that is what defense is trying to make happen?

I don't get it either. If the defense is trying to show that Jones can be combative. So freakin what! It is also showing Levi to be a scoundrel bedding everyone in sight. And IMO it does go to motive that this man was having multiple sexual partners while married, it goes to his character or lack of and how much easier it is to put a gun in someone's mouth and pull the trigger when you no longer have any 'feelings' for them.

I saw the judge look at the witness but also at the lawyers and primarily the defense atty. I imagine he was admonishing everyone to keep it civil.

When trying to figure out if Serna was paid by the state or privately I found out that Serna was born in 1953 so he is either 59 or 60 years old this year. I would have guessed he was much older than that. I wonder if he has been this kind of lawyer his whole practicing life? I think he needs a little refresher course in ethics and morality....just my opinion!

Thank you for your research! I thought he was older too, early 70s. I like your idea of his taking a refresher course in ethics and plain old decency. I would LOVE to know what his track record has been--wins vs losses.

Judge admonished both sides for their behavior, said he heard giggling. This is a very serious matter and he is paid to keep it serious. Lunch break. I believe they are to return at 1:30PT/4:30ET. Don't quote me on that part, though.

That is a good point....maybe that is exactly what the defense attorney is trying to do. He can't have practiced law all these years and not know how to push the buttons of States witnesses. He's doing the same thing he is 'accusing' the witness of doing just push, push, push to see if something gives.
