Yes, paying with cash in the 1990s was common enough, especially for something like a single bottle of perfume. Cards were also very common especially in a city like Oslo. I do not think paying with cash would have been memorable, unless it was huge amounts and frequent.

I lived in Sweden for awhile in the 90s, and travelled elsewhere in the Nordics, UK, and other European countries around this general time.

The bottle in her hotel room was the original design, so the 1991 packaging, which does not mean it was bought then, only that it is the original color scheme. It was also almost empty.

It could have been a few years old.

Again, people are selling decades old bottles online, so it depends more on how the bottle was stored and cared for.
