I must ask and may have been covered but this story all over FB of a second arrest, is it a hoax ?
My FB is loaded with this breaking news but I see nothing here and I trust WS much more than FB.

It goes beyond him, and to the fact that MGM may have been hiring employees that are not licensed and certified to provide the security they're supposed to be providing. That's a huge issue.

Wouldn't there be a difference between a bonded security guard, likely hired to work in the Casino areas with a higher job level,(likely retired LE and probably armed) and a security guard hired by a hotel to work in the hotel?

Could it be that JC wouldn't have even needed a license in his job description? Are we making the assumption that he would need to be certified in his job position? Could it be as simple as that?

Not all Security Guards are at the level of certification , bonding, and licensure, but still work as security guards.

Do we know for a fact that he would need to be certified in his role at Mandalay Bay?

"when you open the door you can see it. You shouldn't let people see your safe.

Yes, I posted the relevant statues upthread. He needs to register through the state, and through the LVMPD.

In the last two timeline edits, both have referred to the police being in the casino at the hotel on another call. This is not unusual, it's Vegas, between the tourist and the "grifters" that naturally assimilate there; however, is it unusual to not find incident reports of police activity within an establishment?
I am aware that this is private property, I am also aware that casinos are licensed by the Gaming commission , a federal agency. I cannot wrap my mind around why the Dept. Of Justice would not have the authority in a case of this magnitude. . .

This is true.
But was not impressed by the public contradiction of the Sheriff, I dont think he's clean or anything, but it was a tad juvenile.. Theres a helluva lot of broken people knowing that life will never be the same because it was so easy for this to happen and there was really no way to prevent it- their priority when speaking publicly should first have been to attempt to acknowledge that and attempt to reassure the public.. instead they snarked Sheriff.. it was highly irresponsible.

I'm sure they'll continue to work together, but as I posted earlier, the casino owners need to stop acting like they're in charge of the investigation. Maybe it would be better if they put an independent judge in charge, let him issue search warrants and oversee the investigation.

There really isn't much left to investigate, it seems. We know the identity of the killer, how many arms he had, how he accumulated and used them. Not sure if we'll ever be able to get inside his mind. The FBI needs to check on his overseas activities, banking, gambling, etc. Find all of his assets and make sure they're accessible to the victims and their families.

Stephen Paddock is the bad guy here. My suspicions about nefarious activity are related to him, not some poor minimum wage unarmed security guard who took a bullet while trying to alert the cops.

I was searching for the inner workings of their security dept during the night..I didn't find anything at all except a NYT article which I posted a few hours ago.
I wanted to see their major emergency drill. But yeah, there should be a daily events log, but its probably not for public consumption.. their disaster plan should be, however..

What is the name of his Union? I worked in a hotel many years ago as a server. The hotel had a union that all employees belonged too. Bartenders, Servers, Security Guards etc. I am wondering if JC's Union is a hotel union or a union that represents professional security guards.

Also, I just looked up a security guard job listing in LV at MGM . Under qualifications, it says zero about having to be certified, licensed , bonded, or anything kind of specialized skill set. Just a high school diploma and demonstrated customer services skills.

Casinos are private businesses. I'm not convinced their unarmed security personnel have to be certified at all according to State Regulations. Maybe armed and unarmed security guards have to be certified if they are operating in a role of a State or City Job, not a private one.

Required: • At least 1 year of customer service experience. • Excellent customer service skills. • Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts. • Professional appearance and demeanor. • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays. • High School diploma or equivalent. • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms. Preferred: • Previous casino security experience. • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting

he's been consulted, possibly to establish "Who is Lead Investigative Team", Sheriff or FBI. Looks like sheriff won.

The security guards at Mandalay specifically unionized end of last year. It’s a security guard/first responder union. It is not affiliated with the hotel, or the staff as a whole.

As for the registration, the laws are pretty clear. I would suggest reading them. It’s illegal for someone to act in that role if they are not licensed or registered under a licensed entity.

As for the registration, the laws are pretty clear. I would suggest reading them. It’s illegal for someone to act in that role if they are not licensed or registered under a licensed entity.
