this makes a lot of sense.

On October 2, 1980, a prizefight boxing match was held between Muhammed Ali and Larry Holmes in Las Vegas. The fight was heavily publicized nation and worldwide and marked Ali's return to the ring. Videos of the fight are available online. The Review-Journal ran ads from the place where the event was held. The ads helpfully showed out-of-town fight goers a map of the surrounding streets and provided parking tips.

From Wikipedia: "The fight took place on October 2, 1980, in Las Vegas, with Holmes easily dominating Ali, who was weakened from thyroid medication he had taken to lose weight. Giachetti called the fight "awful... the worst sports event I ever had to cover". Actor Sylvester Stallone at ringside said it was like watching an autopsy on a man who is still alive.[31] Ali's trainer Angelo Dundee finally stopped the fight in the eleventh round, the only fight Ali lost by knockout. "

I firmly believe Arroyo Jane was brought to Las Vegas from "elsewhere" by "someone/s else" because of this event and the opportunities it presented for "someone/s" to be making a lot of money from her that weekend; maybe not as much money as "someone/s" expected her to bring in.(read between the lines) . Another alternative is that whoever Arroyo was with had bet a lot of money on Ali winning the fight, and that person took their anger out on Arroyo when Ali lost the fight.

I watched that fight on TV. It was...very sad.

Robyn Elizabeth Hickie is a long shot since she disappeared from Australia, but I certainly see the resemblance. She's in the age range, the height is only off my one inch, and I don't see anything in the disappearance details that make me think she's definitely close to home. I don't see any reason why she shouldn't be looked at; I think you should submit it. Certainly can't hurt.

This article says Robyn was going to a party: http://www.australianmissingpersonsregister.com/Hickie.htm

This article from 2002 says the coroner found she died of homicide even though no body was recovered. They think she could be a victim of the "backpack murderer" though he has denied it. http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2002/07/05/1025667054747.html

Porchlight has the text of a couple of other articles related to the inquest into the botched investigation: http://z13.invisionfree.com/PorchlightAustralia/index.php?showtopic=480

Wondering if it would worth the effort to review the many videos of the fight available on youtube to see if anyone might spot Arroyo in the crowd watching the fight.....

I checked out a few of the videos and they are of incredibly poor quality.

Thanks, carbuff! I found all of that yesterday, too, and came to the conclusion that since LE botched the investigation that badly, they might be grasping at straws with the Ivan Milat link. They might simply be assuming it's him because he was in the area & they have no other leads. I couldn't find much information about why they think he might be responsible.

Actually, I also found a photo of her on a FB page for missing Australians, and several people responded that they knew her personally. Would it be inappropriate to ask them to look at the images of Arroyo?

If it's a public page where that kind of thing is discussed, I don't see any reason not to ask them politely. It certainly sounds like there's room for error in the missing persons report and the subsequent investigation--although the later, better investigation is the one that concluded she had been murdered.

Done. I tried to link their names so they'd see my post, but I don't think it worked. Hopefully they'll see my post. I turned on notifications for the post so I'll see it in case anyone responds.

Any chance of an isotope analysis?

bumping.

I don't know if I'm the only one with this opinion, but I think NCMEC's first recon of Arroyo Grande Jane Doe was more accurate than the recent one.

I want to say the picture of the tattoo has been posted online, but I can't find it on WS, so here it is. I really think it is a marking done by a pimp.

I don't know, but I'm going to give it a whirl.

http://news3lv.com/news/local/can-you-identify-this-woman-in-a-cold-murder-case-01-19-2016

For now, all we know is she was a white woman, 14-25 years old with brown hair and blue eyes, standing 5'2" tall. We are also learning an "S" was roughly carved into her right forearm. It could have been a homemade tattoo representing someone's initial, showing branding or ownership.

"That could stand for a slave, possibly a victim of a motorcycle gang, or a serial killer," said Rebel J. Morris, the Executive Director of Can You Identify Me?

I agree 100% with Rainwater's Muhammad Ali theory. I think ''Arroyo Grande Doe'' might be a human trafficking victim, it could be very helpful if an isotope analysis could be done, she might be from a foreign country.

I went digging for "country of origin" ancestral information for women with light colored eyes/fair skin. Among the countries that popped up were Scandinavia, huge chunks of Russia, the Seychelles,Iceland, Ireland, Scotland, Central Europe, Causcas Islands and a few others. I have to look for the paper with the notes on it, those are the countries I remember off the top of my head. I also learned that the vast majority of missing Russians are not in any national Russian database-Russia does not have the equivalent of NAMUS or Doenetwork.

The info I found was from a different source, but this explains the basics from Wikipedia:
"Blue eyes are common in northern and eastern Europe, particularly around the Baltic Sea. Blue eyes are also found in Southern Europe.[38][39][40] Blue eyes are also found in southern Europe, Central Asia, South Asia, North Africa and West Asia.[41][39][40] In West Asia, a proportion of Israelis are of Ashkenazi origin, among whom the trait is relatively elevated (a study taken in 1911 found that 53.7% of Ukrainian Jews had blue eyes).[42][43]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_color

Green eyes are most prominent in Central and Northern Europe, Western Asia, Ireland, Scotland, Iceland, and the Netherlands (Dutch).

I wonder if it would be worthwhile to circulate Arroyo's info in the countries listed above if anyone speaks those languages.....

I find it interesting that they don't mention the millions of people in the US and Canada who are descended from those groups and have that coloring.

New in Namus: Patricia Taylor aged 14-15, missing since 1980 from Oklahoma. Exact date unknown, default of Jan. 1, 1980 is being used.

Namus Link: https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/31371/29/

Eyes: hazel/green
Hair: red/auburn
Estimated height: 64-68 inches ( 64 inches a little taller than Arroyo, but it is an estimate of Patricia's height.)

There are several pictures of Patricia under "images" on the NAMUS page. I tried to copy /paste her school photo, where she is wearing a pendant: and the one of her wearing a blue shirt, but couldn't get it to paste here.

Circumstances from NAMUS: Patty was sent to live with family in North Dakota, then brought back to Oklahoma to El Reno. From there she was in the care of Owasso Children's Baptist home and the last record they have of her was that she was going from them into Tulsa Oklahaoma DHS custody. We do have an official letter from DHS from 1994 when family was searching then, stating that she'd never been adopted out. That is the last known whereabouts.

No dentals or FP available. DNA sample submitted, tests not complete.

I sincerely hope Patricia is alive and well and living under a married name. In case she is not, I am posting her here as a possible Arroyo Jane match and also cross-posting Patricia in the Walker County Jane Doe thread.

I was just going to suggest Patricia after seeing her mentioned in another thread as they both have "s" tattoos on their right arm.
