Apparently, Ellen has been located ALIVE after all these years, and wants to have the case closed. I can't find any MSM to confirm the information, but this tweeter has worked with her case for a considerable time and is in contact with the family.

Good find Mrs. B, thanks.

If Ellen went missing over 40 years ago and is still alive, this just cements my belief that not contacting family for long periods of time doesn't always mean the person is deceased. It's a good indicator they may be, but shouldn't taken as a given. There's always hope. Glad she was found alive and well.

Thanks for this post. I think you are totally right....missing doesn't mean lost all the time...There is still hope that some missing persons are ok....and just don't want to go back home for any reason.

Not the same case. Just saw this today. An older woman was recently found via DNA. Someone posted in DNA Detectives they had a match and after speaking to the person the older woman admitted her parents locked her out of the house when she came home late, so she changed her name and lived her life. I do not think there is an MP report on her, another advocate checked, no cases on NamUs from back then

Is there an recent rule out list? And why don't they share the isotopes? No new leads?Sometimes they are pretty vague? I don't think this sweet girl was ever reported missing.....but I will keep on searching.. eventually overtaken by the use of DNA and genealogy. The future is bright.

Without identifiers, there's little that can be done to rule a missing person in or out, unfortunately.

I came across something interesting about Cecile Francis Moch...

Sunburst began in 1969, originally called The Brotherhood of the Sun, and was led by Norman Paulsen. The foundation of the group, at least initially, was based on celibacy, meditation, and living off the land. The group did not condone violence, drugs, alcohol, or even tobacco in its early days.

By the end of 1980, Sunburst had lost the majority of its free labor, and could no longer pay the mortgage on the ranch. They eventually lost all the land. Members who had lived on the farm for over a decade were suddenly displaced. They had no income, no skills, and no idea how to survive on their own.

And in the midst of all the turmoil, a 19 year old woman named Cecile Frances Moch disappeared. Nobody seemed to notice.

**BTW...I sent an email to the Doe Network asking if the ME or LE has any DNA, dental records or fingerprints for her...

If the LE dealing with the missing person’s case get informed of a possible match, they might be able to track down the girl’s family to ask for DNA. In Lina Reyes-Geddes’s case (a missing woman that recently got linked to an unidentified victim and identified by one of our own websleuthers) the local investigators actually tracked down her family all the way to Mexico in order to compare their DNA to the UID. Jsyk don’t let missing identifiers discourage you ;) It’s also possible that the LE has these identifiers on file but that they aren’t entered into NamUs for whatever reason.

She was a college student and they also held a search for her....Hopefully she still has family in the area...

If she's not a match for this UID, she could be a match for another one...

I submitted Cecile Moch to both LE Agencies and to the Doe Network in 2016 and again in February 2018. I was able to reach the Santa Barbara PD investigator working the case and spoke with him. The Investigator seemed very interested about how she could possibly be the Henderson NV Jane Doe. He told me they were going to check it out, but I never heard further from him.

I came across this UID because she was a R/O for a MP case I was looking into...Since her face is recognizable I decided to look for a match...

When I sent the email to the Doe Network I mentioned Cecile Moch as a possible match...Perhaps they will have better luck with the ME...

Unfortunately, investigators seldom give progress reports, we can only hope they're investigating the lead even if it appears stalled or not moving forward to us.
Sometimes a lot goes on/is going on behind the scenes and we're only made a ware of it if/when something breaks. In Marcia King's case, the potential match many of us had submitted since 2013 for Patricia Salamandyk looked like it fell on deaf ears, until one day she showed up as a rule out on Buckskin Girl's NamUs page. Though it appeared out of the blue (to me, at least), when I called and spoke to the detective on her case about the rule out, he confirmed for me it was done with DNA and it was years in the making, as in this case it took longer because they were working with international agencies.
