"Police described the driver as a black woman in her 20s, and was driving with a three-year-old passenger. Charges are expected to be filed as soon as possible.

A total of 37 people were impacted — in addition to the fatality and critical patients, 26 suffered non-critical injuries and four were treated and released from area hospitals. The injured were being treated at local hospitals.

Danita Cohen, spokeswoman for University Medical Center, told CBC News that of the 15 patients it received, five are Canadian.

"One of our Canadian patients is in critical condition and the rest are in serious condition," she said.

She said some of the patients required a French translator and at least two of them, a man and a woman, are from the Montreal area".

A spokesperson from Sunrise Medical Center told CBC that it had received 11 patients from the crash, but would not confirm nationality. All were adults, with eight discharged and three in fair condition.

Clark County Fire Chief Greg Cassell says the call for help came in at 6:38 p.m. and 70 emergency crew workers were sent to the scene.

The vehicle was in the northbound lanes of Las Vegas Boulevard near Bellagio Way when the vehicle drove up onto the sidewalk in front of the Paris Hotel & Casino."

Just terrorizing folks for the fun of it isn't technically a "terrorist attack". You have to terrorize them to promote a political or social agenda.

Big difference between a random crazy that kills a bunch of people and someone doing it to promote a specific ideology.

McGrath said the 1996 Oldsmobile was registered in Oregon and the driver had recently moved to the area.

The pedestrians were not in the road and were not at fault, McGrath said.

Justin Cochrane, a property manager from Santa Barbara, California, said he was having dinner at a sidewalk restaurant outside the Paris Hotel and across the street from the famous Bellagio Fountain when the incident took place.

The car appeared to be going around 50 kph when it first hit the pedestrians on Las Vegas Boulevard, Cochrane said.

“It was just massacring people,” he said.

The vehicle then went farther down the road and drove back into another crowd of pedestrians on the sidewalk, he said.

Cochrane said he couldn’t understand why the car went into the crowd a second time.

“Why would it slow to go around and then accelerate again?” he said.

“I thought it’s a crazy person.”

Cochrane said he saw children and adults injured and on the ground as the car drove away.

A Montreal man celebrating his 21st birthday in Las Vegas was among the pedestrians struck by a car Sunday night on the Las Vegas Strip.

Anthony Hamel, who is from the off-island suburb of Delson, told a local TV station he was walking with his family when a car charged onto the sidewalk.


He was treated for a knee injury and released, while his mother and other relatives suffered more serious injuries.

"I saw some people crouching and I'm wondering if they're good, how their life will be, just because of this," Hamel told a KTNV.

The driver has been identified as Lakeisha N. Holloway, 24, of Portland, Clark County, Nev., officials said. Police said she appears to have recently moved to the area.

This makes me soooo angry. Is anyone safe today? Anywhere? How many were there to celebrate a Birthday, Wedding etc. Or just have some plain ole fun with hard earned money. She picked a place that would have mass casualty. That strip is crowded 24/7. 35 of us will be there in April for our Son's Wedding with a Reception back home a few weeks later. I shudder to think.......
