Many times a public defender is appointed for arraignment/bail hearing then a private atty is hired.
Also, private attorneys are contracted to serve as public defenders. His attorney might be on the appointment list in addition to his private caseload.

Yeah. And FWIW, this guy is not very "likable" for a criminal. Kidnapping a young gal? Not saying a word? Already a violent criminal history. This may not be worth it for a lot of bailbonds folks. Pretty low on crime hierarchy. This isn't exactly drunk driving or some sort of stupid fight.
That is assuming that the bail bonds people are thinking about anything other than $$$$.

This is just wrong in so many ways. So so sad and my heart is breaking for the family. I'm wondering if he talked yesterday and told them where she was...in exchange for bail and bond. So sad.
no way. I don't think they would let him out by proving that he killed her.

I am so, so sorry for Naomi and her family.

I don't know where exactly she was found. But I hope they will search for other possible victims in that area as well.

I usually sign off here when I'm done with my work day. And like normal, I didn't sign on after work last night as I was taking care of my family.

It is devastating to wake up this morning, come on here and find out she's deceased. I was hoping with my whole heart that the amount of bail was due to the fact that they thought she may still be alive.

May Naomi rest in peace. I'm so sorry this happened to you.

I've been processing this tragic news all night. Like each of you, I am devastated. I cannot fathom the pain her family is feeling.
She should still be with you! With us!

Naomi was bringing so much good to the world.
  • Family: Beloved daughter and sister. So cherished and precious.
  • Work ethic: Clearly a dedicated employee, she was up early, arriving ahead of schedule for the shuttle to take her to a long shift.
  • Loyal friend: Spending time communicating with friends in other time zones to keep relationships strong.
  • Spreading her wings: Moved to US, she had a plan for her future and was making it happen.
May we all honor Naomi by loving our own families, dedicating ourselves positively to our own responsibilities, sharing our lives with our friends and especially following our dreams and living our best lives every day.

We've all been robbed of the goodness of Naomi.

You'll never be forgotten, beautiful girl. We see you. Your smile lives on. As you were becoming a strong young woman you were touching lives every day. You've certainly touched mine.

What a horrific outcome.

I just cannot comprehend how the mind of someone like TD works. Does he wake up in the morning and decide he’s going to kill a random person that day? It’s all so sick and evil that it’s beyond anything I can understand.

So sorry Naomi, you deserved to live your life. RIP

May justice come swiftly and severely to this monster.

There is always that inner hope that she’s alive in an American basement “kidnapped” (I’m a new member from Australia - we don’t have basements) and safe… this is such a horrible outcome and the family is so humble expressing their worries for that 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬’s well being at the press conference if he made bail if he “hurt himself”

Rest in Peace Naomi and my deepest condolences

There was a short clip I saw on-line several years ago. This young woman was randomly asked on the street "if you could do one thing right now what would it be?" She responds simply "to enjoy a run on a beautiful trail without the fear of men". That stuck. IMO

I'm so sorry to hear the news of Naomi Irion's death.

Sometimes making sense of the humans in this world and the acts they commit is very difficult. Heartbreaking for Naomi and all those connected to and with her. She didn't deserve this end.

@SteveP Beautifully said! My heart breaks for the family. They handled the worst time of their lives with such dignity. My prayers are with Naomi and her entire family.

I started to think maybe there was a chance. If he has been on the prowl with a partner in crime then maybe they kept girls captive in a remote cabin or storage shed for a while. Obviously not, and I don’t know what to think, if he does this completely alone or has some kind of serial killing buddy.

Apologies if this was already brought up and I missed it but I saw this . . . will the incorrect date on the criminal charges have any bearing?

I've been following the NI case since it broke, and have been hoping she would be found alive. Unfortunately, everyone's worst fears have been realized. Extremely sad. This young woman had her whole life ahead of her, and was just going about her business/ going to work when she was abducted. I guess we still don't know if this was random, or if the perp. had been following her/tracking her prior to this?!

Hopefully they will be able to prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that the perp. committed this horrific act, and - at the least - he will go to prison forever. Criminals that commit acts like this should never walk the streets again.

Shifting gears & not to downplay the seriousness of this case at all - but I find it interesting that the news media pays attention to some missing persons cases & completely ignores others. The GP case from 2021 & this one are two of the recent examples that have gotten international media coverage - i.e., even if you weren't paying much attention you would have heard of both of them. I suspect the reasons may include that the families in both cases pushed for the media coverage. However, this is sheer speculation on my part.

What kind of “tip” could lead investigators to an exact 6 foot spot in the middle of a hundred miles of desolation? Seems it would have to be phone or truck GPS?

A single tip about timespan he was absent can lead to whatever vehicle he had access to. Which would lead LE directly to a location.

There's a hero here, whoever provided the domino tip.

And Naomi, she may have been her own hero, having left evidence of a struggle in her car, which elevated this case immediately to more than merely a missing person case.

I am haunted by the images of her buying snacks she never got to eat.

She was simply going to work.

I am horrified by the worst of humanity. And I am also inspired by the best of humanity, the compassion of strangers, the grace of her family.

She has touched us all.
