Naomi was wearing her royal blue work Panasonic t shirt in the gas station video . Anyone fairly local would be aware of the shuttle stops and times and would be able to work out she was heading to nearby Walmart for her pickup . Could the t shirt madecit obvious she wasnt just heading home . Just a thought

If he first noticed her at the Fox Peak gas mart, he might have noticed the Panasonic shirt she likely wore everyday. A tip-off that she was not going to be driving there, but taking the shuttle. Very possibly he had noticed the shuttle van passing by Walmart in the area as he was going to work in Reno.

We don’t know what his schedule was like, but reportedly the entire week before he had been working in Reno. Going west from his place in Fallon past Fox Peak to get on I-80.

The following week we are told he was to be working east of Fallon, at the Gold Bar Mine.

I think it’s important that he did this on a Saturday because he knew she would be there and he didn’t have a work commitment.

LE, of course will have his work schedule and can correlate his Reno days with any possible Walmart footage.

I think especially interesting would be footage of days she didn’t work, yet he still showed up.
With all these vehicles that he has around his house, he could park one of them at Walmart and leave a dashcam running.

We know he didn't need to disable the locks, and we know her car was most likely unlocked. How could the suspect know this?

If he first saw her at Fox Peak gas/store, he might have paid attention to whether she typically locked her door.
He could have checked her car out after she got on the shuttle.
I have a really old car and the door knob on the drivers side door broke off. So I would have to push down one of the other door knobs down to lock all the doors.

Also when you're standing outside of the car your can hear the mechanism unlock.
When he was behind her car, he could see when she switched het phone off (light).
Could have heard the mechanism onlock the doors. Or have waited for her to start opening the door to get out.

But it is a risky move. It's all about timing.

IMO locked or unlocked, he waited until the moment she moved to exit.

Because that's exactly the moment he was waiting for.

JMO
And even if everything failed and he pulled at the door while it was still locked.
He could have pretended to be homeless, ask for a dollar and head in the direction of the homeless camp.

Yep, I agree with the previous poster who said her brother told GH in an interview that TD arrived first. He stated that TD was pacing the yellow line before Naomi arrived, almost as if waiting for her. There have been so many GH videos on this case, I wish I remember which one it was - it was pretty early on and had an interview with her brother in it. He walked GH through what TD did/where he went in the parking lot since her brother has seen the whole video.

I absolutely believe TD was specifically waiting for her and felt that way since I heard that interview with her brother. I would not be surprised at all if we later found out he had been seen on Walmart cameras in days leading up to this staking out the situation and maybe seeing if she parked in the same spot every day, what time she got out of her vehicle, who else was usually around, etc.

This is the video. Timestamp 1:18.40 is when they start talking about seeing the video.

Wow. This thread has excellent information. I have often gone to my car after work and started checking out my phone. Not even thinking about locking the car doors.

That claim wouldn’t hold very well. Pot is not meth, coke, or the like. A simple internet search will bring up scientific research showing it is less harmful than alcohol. He’s going to have to come up with a better excuse than a substance that is used to cure issues. Maybe an oxy addiction caused by an injury.

Not exactly. The evidence shows that for some people, marijuana doesn't pose any significant risk, but for others, it can lead to a number of psychiatric conditions, including depression, anxiety, and psychosis. Those most at risk are those under the age of 25 (before the brain is fully developed), but even those much older can experience these symptoms from chronic marijuana use.

The trouble is, that excuse doesn't pass muster since this isn't a murder of delusion which you'd expect if one were psychotic. Remember the girls who tried to kill their 12-year-old friend to appease "Slender Man"? They were psychotic, as in they couldn't tell the difference between fantasy and reality. Psychosis is a thought disturbance in which the person has lost touch with reality, like the girls in the Slender Man assault. There is no indication TD was suffering such a condition. I suppose he could try to make that argument to have himself deemed incompetent to stand trial, but I doubt it'll be accepted. His next option would be to use the insanity defense when it does go to trial.

It's a bit tricky. I leave them unlocked driving on the highway, so people can get you out of the car when you get in an accident, or you car catches fire.
But in a parking lot, or at night I lock them.

I had someone try to get into my car once. Thank God I had my doors locked.
It was near psychiatric hospital and I think it was one of their patients.
But it was still scary.

Hoping someone has an answer for my last remaining loose end. A car pulled in w/its headlights that TD walked in front of. I assume LE talked to occupant(s). Has a statement been released about what h/she/they said?

Short and sweet answer - no it hasn't.

ETA: As far as I'm aware.

I'm still curious about his weird walk. Has anyone who knew him commented about it? Just curious about whether it was fake to throw off any witnesses, or does he have an old injury, etc.

Yes me too. I was convinced he had some health issues, injury or even knee issues or some sort of prosthetic leg.

But one person on this forum said: 'That's a prison walk'. That was impressive.

But I'm also still curious if he has a medical issue as well.

Which makes me wonder if there are drugs out there that make your joints hurt.

I think he was purposely sauntering; trying to look nonchalant, casual, non threatening and not suspicious. He was overacting. MOO

Naomi's car is parked around the corner from that view.
The camera view in your link is point E

Do you know if that is also how prisoners behave?
Casually walking around, minding their own business, trying not to draw any attention?

That strange walk/gait is known as a “perp walk.”

It’s a common type of swagger in prison communities.

Yes @otto, but may I challenge you again? Put yourself in Driver’s shoes. As if…..
Anyway, you have your mark. It’s all planned. You’ll make your move under cover of darkness. As you’ve said, you wait in the shadows until it’s time to pounce.
She’s there where you knew she’d be; sitting alone in her car, busy on the phone, oblivious to anyone. So very vulnerable. Your excitement builds. Your adrenaline flows.
You keep your eye on her, ready to make your move. The time is right. Just as you’re about to approach your target, another car swings into the parking lot.
Not only that, but it pulls into a parking space not far from her vehicle and right next to where you are standing.
You are forced to move from the shadows. You walk through the headlights in full view of the driver and any passenger. This was not planned.
You move further down the lot away from the witnesses. You assess.
A savvy, smart, and cunning perp would throw in the towel and wait for another day. But not you. You are emboldened, a bit angry, over stimulated. You throw caution to the wind and begin your assault. Stupid you.

Some people are risk takers, most are not. I think that people like Troy Driver are risk takers, where, in weighing the options, impulse control is a factor. The impulse to abduct Naomi that morning was stronger than the caution of abandoning the plan after a car pulled into the lot and shone headlights on him. He probably rationalized that he was unrecognizable with his hoody and mask, that there was no way to connect him to his truck, and that the risk associated with the headlights was low.

Some might view that as stupid, but for Troy it was not a significant enough risk to change his plan.
