What might have been more helpful than a police investigation, was if she'd gone to social media, the local media, etc, warning women about the risks of being followed in your vehicle by men, and please be safe, ie lock your doors.

Not saying she's to blame for not doing that, or that she needed to target the compact car guy directly, but a head's up reminder is always helpful for younger women.

JMO
She did do that. She has posted on SM sites that are discussing Naomi's case.

Bail was revoked immediately when the murder charges were filed.
Oh, excellent. Apologies if that was posted and I missed it.

Many people have no idea what it's like to be a woman in this world. Unfortunately, a good number of them are police officers. I'm not anti-police by any means, but there are tons of cases where things like this are discounted or dismissed.
I think you made a very good point here, @BeginnerSleuther. Many men don’t understand how it feels to be afraid to walk to your car in an empty parking garage, to be afraid to walk down a street at night, to be afraid to take a walk in the woods by yourself, or to go for a jog on a country road without looking over your shoulder. This is as true for civilian men as it is for male LE. A man with a good wife, a good mother, a good female friend, or a good training program can learn to understand the dangers that face woman every day. They can learn to understand the fear. Only then can they empathize.

Is this normal in court proceedings or could this mean talks are happening behind the scenes with him for a guilty plea?

I suppose the hearing connected to the kidnapping charge was cancelled because there are new and more serious charges. The defence needs time to review disclosure documents on those new charges, so the hearing is set for May.

Is Brian Entin no longer reporting on this case?

I just checked his twitter page and he doesn't appear to be talking about it anymore.

There's not much to comment on until the Open Murder charge hearing in May. The autopsy report is suppressed, as is the cause of death. We might have to wait until trial to learn more about Naomi, and more about the MO that this 41 year old man used with his victims.

He is on camera abducting her, there is apparently a lot of other evidence, and the body has been found. It's doubtful NV would be offering him any kind of deal.

Unless they believe there may be others. But I'm sure the deal would be to merely take the death penalty off the table.

Serious question for legal minds here. In reality, is a death sentence any different that a LWOP sentence in a state that has not executed anyone since 2006? To my knowledge, there is not an official moratorium on carrying out death sentences, as there is in my state, but it does not seem likely, imo, that the state will exercise their right again. Other than the remote possibility of being put to death, are there any other differences between the two? JMO
