Please come back, Laytonian. I absolutely love reading your posts - they are one of the things that initially drew me to this thread. Hollyblue has been an amazing contributor as well. The lack of new information coming out is frustrating, for sure. I would love to know, as LizB asked, when exactly GW left for Vegas. Why are all questions about GW 'taboo' i.e, never answered? I wonder...

I agree 100% on this whole post :)

I just heard back from Naegle, after sending the Qs about the job applications.

THERE WERE NO JOB APPLICATIONS FOUND IN THE CAR. It's obviously bad reporting.
We all know there were window washing flyers in the car....and she previously told us that there were UNSENT job applications in his apartment. Quite a few, in fact....but he had never done anything with them.
I think it's safe to assume that the reporter got "applications" and "flyers" mixed up.

CREDIT CARD CHARGES (Exact quote): "Also, the way the internet domain thing was mentioned in the article confused me, and I know about it so I thought I'd clear that up too. A few weeks after Steven disapperaed there were two mysterious charges that showed up in Steven's bank account. We really thought we had something. It turned out that when Steven designed web sites for people he put the domain name charges in his own name. The charges came out of his account automatically so they persisted even though he was missing."

---------------------
It sure would be nice if one reporter followed a case, so they'd have a knowledge base to rely on.

As Naegle just wrote in her email: GRRRRR

(I'm off to see if I can find my first post about the "job apps" and edit it to -- we don't need to be carried off-track by wrong information....and also edit the timeline)

I suppose we have to look at all angles. So I give you all this:

-Brian Douglas Wells-the pizza delivery guy who died with a bomb wrapped around his neck in Erie, Pa.

The average person would say this could only happen in a movie but it happened for real. And although Steven sounds a bit more sociable and up on his game than Brian Douglas, I remotely suppose that something along these lines is remotely possible: (Man, lots of "remotely"'s in that sentence) Steven getting caught up with some questionable people and luring him into something he did not want to do. If we could get some answers as to Steven's true "social intelligence" we may be able to exclude a possibility such as this. The scenario being: Steven thinks he is part of some plan when actually he IS the plan.

In addition, not only am I originally from PA, I was driving through Erie the day this happened. Weird.

From "How do I know Steven comments "
He had a love for playing the guitar but gave it up because it could ruin his life.

I know Steven from the 26th ward in West Valley City

another knows him when he worked in construction.

another tells of surfing behind a boat and cliff jumping

another talks of seeing him on Dec.9th and commenting to him on how supportive he was

These comments give a glimpse of his personality, would be nice if more commented on the page. I paraphrased all comments.

I wonder what that person is talking about, who said "about the 9th"? The Temple thing we know about (Christmas lights) was Nov 30th, and there was a Christmas dinner at the wardhouse on Dec 7th. As far as we know, he was in Nevada on the 9th.

Thanks for mentioning that. I'm going over and ask. EDIT: you can't reply in that thread!

So maybe he's a Las Vegas guitar-strumming street musician?
Why would the guitar ruin his life?

Come on Lay, I was joking. See the wink at the beginning of my post. ?

Time for a breather.

Sorry. I didn't see the wink.

Just remember I'm the anal-retentive, fact-checking, detail-obsessive who gets really irritated by things like "Maybe the bad guys from outer space took him in a space ship"....and then I have to be the "bad girl" who brings things back to earth by finding a reference (or not) that the flying saucer landed ;)

I've been reading more of Steven's writings (and I found one that I don't think anyone would have edited a bit of)....and I like your thought about "social intelligence".

How about "a bit naive and not very savvy"?

My daughter and I were eating lunch at Fuddruckers, a block away, when Elizabeth Smart and her kidnappers were found. We didn't notice anything but some cop cars, which are common out on State St in Sandy. You and I. Too far, or too close.

So, maybe Steven was going for his first guitar lesson on Evening Lights and when he touched the guitar the gates of Hell opened up and swallowed him whole.

I mean, see, if that post is real and who the heck knows whether that guy is telling the truth on Facebook or not, it makes Steven sound like a total kook. Granted, the rest of the posts are very nice but they are pretty vanilla too; who really wants to say anything bad about a person who has vanished, right? Even Jimmy Hoffa has more lovers than haters these days and he was all mobbed up, right?

It's that kind of post that makes it seem like after two months of going over what happened to this guy, we don't know Steven at all. And I don't see anybody deleting that "guitar" post on there either. So, did Steven really say that?

Well....it couldn't have been the 9th, because he was in Ruby Valley.

I'll figure out a way. Sure would be nice if some of Steven's good friends would help us out here.

Laytonian Do you think she means the Christmas Dinner, on Dec. 7th ?

regarding the comment about me disrupting the forum:

the only thing im disrupting is the train of thought. that based on very scant evidence and statements on the timeline that have not been substantiate the majority wants to assume death and foul play.

take the video for instance. many agree that the person walking is not the same build as steven and we only have the parents telling us its him.

this person could have been anyone walking in the area and if the video has been edited it could have been someone who walked to the mail boxes and is walking back with his mail tucked under his arm. if that person didnt watch the news or didnt see the short segment with the video he may not even realize that he was taped and mistaken for SK.

trust me i only heard about the youtube tape by accident and the BOLO bulletins are largely ignored at work unless its murder because theres just too much and in vegas the stolen vehicles rap sheets are more than a hundred each day and home invasions in a single district can number in the high 10-20 a WEEK!

SK could have parked the car and walked towards the street on the other side of the barrier of the culdesac which is meant to inhibit vehicular traffic but not pedestrians.

you have to go with the facts and only the facts because only the facts and the truth are upheld in court. heresay is heresay until proven otherwise and heresay in a court of law is dismissed as heresay or speculation.

You're saying he went on tour with Meat Loaf?

Maybe he confused his guitar with a Ouija board?

I did, at first...until I found another ward's website, that described it as a monthly activity. I actually thought I'd hit pay dirt, until I realized I was looking at the page for the Bloomington 7th Ward, NOT Steven's "Bloomington HILLS 7th Ward".

Ward temple night is held at the temple, so only members holding a temple recommend can attend (not all LDS, not the general public). So it couldn't be the ward dinner....BUT I initially thought the same thing you did.

Interesting about the guy getting his mail and Steven going the opposite direction.. Another reason I feel so frustrated there is not more video and I question Why that is?? Just interesting is all. I do think it is him in the video if his parents believe it is, but I see what you are saying :)

'cept why wouldn't someone say, when the neighborhood was surveyed (more than once) "That was just me picking up my mail"? Or why wouldn't Mr Security have recognized the person as the same guy who walks by, all the time?

Since we're looking at a tape recorded on a Sunday (a day where mail's not delivered), that coincidental person walking west to the malbox while Steven also walked west and through that (uh...) culvert-gutter, shouldn't be hard to find.

ding174: You are welcome to make comments on the timeline. In fact, there's a "comments" link right at the bottom. HELP us make it better. Tell us **precisely** which piece(s) of information are invalid, and why.

lol, ok eddy, you win! This has to be about the most reasonable explanation for SK's disappearance so far. Well, it's on a par with some others!

BTW, thinking about the video of the parents' interview, I got the feeling from them (especially mom) that they were more irritated and frustrated than anything else - kind of, "this kid of ours has never settled down and found a girl and a job, and now *this*? Why can't he just behave like (insert name of more successful sibling here)?" Maybe that's why SK has gone - to get away from the overbearing, over controlling parents?

Very true, and like I said before, I do believe that it is Steven, I am most frustrated about GW.. It just doesn't add up.. Also, why did the parents wait to release the info about the apps in the car? Makes me wonder if they know more than they are letting on as well, maybe they are worried if everyone knew more details we wouldn't keep trying to figure this out?? Just sayin is all...

You missed a post, back a bit. ;)

Naegle told us today that there were no job applications in the car. Apparently, the reporter confused the flyers we knew were in the car, with the job apps left in Steven's room (apps he'd compiled and readied....but never did anything with.)

Here's the earlier post which also contains a much better explanation of the GoDaddy credit card charges.

As for GW: I don't think the family knows anything more about him, than we do. The important question, I guess, lies with the investigators. Who are they looking at?
