Thanks for talking to your friend, FastEddy. I definitely think her drug scenario is a viable possibility. I just a have a few problems with it. Where would Steven have met big-time drug runners - big and bold enough to murder someone? I just get the feeling that his roommate was NOT a big time drug dealer at all - after all, he stole a toaster from the apt - and probably was just a big pot head instead who maybe sold dime bags to his friends. I don't see the roomie as the potential drug connection - so where would Steven have run in to such people? (For the record, I absolutely positively do not think Steven was using drugs himself.) Then there's the money issue. If, presumably, Steven had been doing this 'collecting' for awhile, why couldn't he pay his rent? I don't think even Steven is naive enough to work months or even weeks at something without receiving a paycheck - even if he WAS promised a big 'payoff' at the end - I don't think he'd fall for that. He wasn't that unworldly, was he? And finally, unless Steven threatened to snitch on these theoretical drug dealers, why would they murder him? Drug dealers want to stay on the down low and off the radar - I can't see any murdering someone unless it was ABSOLUTELY necessary (i.e., Steven threatened to snitch, and I also can't see him being THAT stupid). If they didn't want to pay Steven, well, what was he going to do? Sick his posse on them? Steven wasn't connected. What threat could he have been for drug dealers who, all in all, want to avoid at all possible costs showing up on LE's radar?
Ok, those are my problems with the theory, but I definitely think it's just as viable as any other we've come up with.

In a nutshell, and I'll keep certain details to myself, I think he ran off with an older guy who promised, for the lack of a better expression, to keep him or take care of him.

Except that we don't know for a fact if Steven was gay or not, this scenario does seem the most obvious and, in fact, is what all of my friends proposed happened when I told them about this case.

Hey Laytonian, I think I missed something. What's the significance of the above websites?

You didn't miss anything; I just found and posted them.

You clicked on the links and didn't see anything?
Really? Not even with the clues?

I just kinda wanted to see if anyone went "hmmmm...." like I did ;)

Maybe Steven DID NIT know he was drug running. Maybe he just thought he was making deliveries for someone who owned a business, or a friend. maybe he got a idea, thats what he was doing. And when he found out, thats maybe when things went bad.

I guess there is a possibility, he is in Mexico, or working on a Mexican cruise ship?

Yes, I went,hmmm.

One's kinda funny (a built-in review) and the other?

Ask for Steve at the travel agency, booking a cruise for Jan 2010?

You can ENTER Mexico without showing a passport, only your ID. From there, where? I honestly can't see him working on a cruise ship, because that's a hyper-intensive work environment.

But IF he had some kind of alliance with the travel agency, he could get himself a free ticket on a commission basis, you'd think.

Any travel agents here?

Maybe, but the one body they discovered fifty miles from Sacramento was so burned they could not tell if it was a man or woman. So, that could definitely take some time.

I thought you tipped them about the remains found in the Sacramento River channel. Sherman Island area

The burned ones I'm familiar with, were in SoCal.

Now that I think about it. Maybe the body wasn't burned. But it was so decomposed that LE could not tell if it was man or woman.

We had to have our passports on a Mexican cruise out of San Diego a couple of years ago. Course, I assume Americans could enter Mexico the same way some Mexicans enter the US without a passport.

I would also think if Steven was legally employed, his SS would be registering somewhere. I should hope LE is watching for that type of thing on a regular basis.

I noticed the deadline dates....and the sailing date (Jan 10, 2010).

it wasn't a *new* message, I know -- but it shows access to a system we hadn't thought about.

We were stuck on trains, planes, automobiles. Not boats ;)

I'm intrigued by the fact that the Sacramento PD is now involved. Very interesting. I had really never put much stock into that whole "I'm on my way to Sacramento" thing but now......

Sure wish I knew which Home Depot they're looking at!

So, I wonder if we can find some trace of a big drug running operation that includes, St. George, Mesquite, Ruby Valley, Henderson & Las Vegas.

I doubt they are. They'd have to have a warrant to look at his social security records, to see if there's activity. They just can't go in and look.

Plus, if he's in hiding, I doubt he'd use his SSN. You can get a fake batch of papers so easy now, it's funny. Passports are the hardest to forge.

Just because they made an inquiry, doesn't mean they're "involved". Like fasteddy4 said, it could be a response to his alert about the UNid'd remains found in the channel.

The one at 1275 West Craig Road, North Las Vegas, NV? By the IHOP and the Deseret Industries/church welfare center? It's only a couple of blocks from the Craig Road & MLK bus stop ;)

(ducking and running)

Ruby Valley = Elko.

I'd see some localized deliveries maybe, but not anything large-scale.

....who just happened to build a website for that place of business, and also created another website (allied to that business) with the same phone number?
