NV - Tesla Cybertruck explosion at Trump hotel in Vegas investigated as a possible terrorist act, 1 Jan 2025

I read that the resulting explosion in the tesla would be contained like an implosion and "up". I am sure ML knew this, so he put those important things like his guns and documents down on the ground at his feet.
Since he died from a gunshot to the mouth, I don't think he had any control over where his gun ended up.

ETA Actually, didn't he have 2 guns with him? So one of them, he may have placed on the floor, but the other one must have ended up wherever it fell after he shot himself.

Yes, it was the second gun at his feet.

Just the hugest issues right?
Mental Health Crisis across the board. So many of my friends keep discussing this and what CAN be done. There are so so many services available today. Just think of what it must have been like in the 50s or 60s?????

Is it that there is NOT really enough?
Or we can't get that horse to come to water?
Or its too expensive for a huge population that need it?
Or so many $$$ resources are having to be funneled into drugs and addiction?

And how do we MAKE people know more about what can be helpful when they are very very young? Force parents to accept "health care training" in kids curriculums?
Then are we trampling on human rights?

And second issue, the VA. Don't even get me started.........

moo ooo moo ooo moo
Ever watched the movie "The Best Years of Our Lives?" This is not a new problem.

i dunno..... I am starting to think this is going to be one huge "revelation" of stuff in the midst of the madness..
i believe huge efforts will be made to disqualify anything he is saying.

boy oh boy... I have never felt like I'm into conspriracy stuff... !! But I am this morning. need more coffee.

Disqualify what? How?

Whatever reason(s) he did this, it does seem like it was a failure, a squib.

Does anyone know where in Arizona he was born?

Some media has been reporting he was born in Richland County OH, and grew up and graduated in Bucyrus, OH.

It makes no sense though if the passport is authentic with a location of birth being Arizona.

Perhaps LE will clear this up in the coming days.

I have a question. If his body was so impacted by the explosion that they couldn't identify him how do they know he shot himself?
Purely speculating, but the cameras are very high resolution in valet areas in Vegas. They may have been able to see him shoot himself on camera, but are not willing to confirm ID on his remains without dental and DNA just by seeing the side of his face on camera.

I have some questions from the article.

I feel they are being pretty simplified in their proof of identity.
I know i had read somewhere, that it was a tattoo identified on the one arm that was not totally charred.... but here's my question.

Does the military collect DNA from all members? It would make sense that the do, given the work and actions of the military.

Why aren't we hearing that data? This article states nothing of proof of identity.
DNA proof would help, <modsnip - rumor>

moo
Yes, the military collects DNA from all members for ID purposes, if necessary.

Local news here in Vegas reported he was identified by the coroner using DNA and dental records, confirmed in this article.

<modsnip - quoted post was removed> As the spouse of an active duty soldier, I have access to better care than he does. There is also still the possibility that seeking mental health care will impact the servicemembers career. "They" say it won't and they talk a big talk about seeking help if you need it and there is all the required suicide awareness training and all the safety briefings that are often "check the box" things and at the end of the day the focus is on training and being ready to go when needed.

I do remember statements saying they did have video of him shooting through his mouth. Therefore LE knew he shot himself before the fuses to blow up inside the Tesla went off

I still am unsure how his phone survived that explosion. Although burnt up it was intact enough for his messages to be extracted. Unless it was through the Cloud?

IMO it’s just a very tragic case of a man who served his country, in an elite unit, and eventually couldn’t handle what that entailed.

I believe he, as a fan of Trump and Musk, wanted to ensure they’d know his name and that’s why he chose to dramatically kill himself using an iconic Trump/Musk location and vehicle.

I know people were injured but I don’t believe he was a classic terrorist.
McVeigh murdered others intentionally so I don’t see them as equivalent.

JMO
maybe it was in the Otterbox of all Otterboxes

IIRC, in his texts to his former girlfriend, AA, he did bring up an early childhood memory while en route. I agree, I think he knew the area well, even though the charging stations dictated much of the route he travelled. Perhaps that's another reason he picked Las Vegas - both its familiar location and proximity to his past and current living situation and also location of a cleary marked President-Elect Trump property. And, of course, he could make it there by New Year's eve/day.

It checked all the boxes.

I still think its relevant that both men chose to detonate their bombs in high profile locations on New Years Eve. Seems slightly more than a coincidence. I'm sure the FBI and DHS will find more information as they search their online activity.

She certainly has a deep empathy for ML and one can see why she was one of the last people he contacted as he prepared for the end of his life.

I wonder if we will hear from any of the other ex-girlfriend(s) he contacted as he made his way to Las Vegas on that final mission. The FBI had told AA that she wasn't the only ex-girlfriend that ML reached out to during that time period.

WASHINGTON -- The highly decorated Special Forces soldier who died by suicide in a Cybertruck explosion on New Year's Day confided to a former girlfriend who had served as an Army nurse that he faced significant pain and exhaustion that she says were key symptoms of traumatic brain injury.

If you or someone you know may be experiencing a mental health crisis, call or text the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988.

-- Cameras are inside and outside, everywhere...
There are thousands of cameras in Las Vegas -- doesnt surprise me that he chose LV.

After all, his message was "a wake up call." moo

ML will be remembered by me as the Cybertruck bomber, a cowardly person, not as a soldier who served.

ML, okay with war, until he wasn't.

ML's history means nothing, jeopardizing innocent lives is not right -- its not "a wake up call"

ML only doing what suits him.

Seven people suffered injuries...
Did he cause fear, trauma for life? What about other bystanders? What a traumatic event to have experienced-- I cant imagine being in that area at the time of the explosion.

My thoughts, opinion.

In support of victims.

I, too, feel for the victims who had only minor injuries but definitely experienced trauma and some may continue to do so as they move forward with their lives. I also abhor the possibility that it could have been so much worse.

But from what we know now, so far, it seems that MB's mission was only to harm himself and take his own life while likely experiencing severe depression or much worse. Everyone who knew him describes him as a stand-up guy, a kind, decent, talented soldier who was serving his country in the most dangerous circumstances throughout his career. Whatever went wrong is tragic and I hope we learn more so that other members of the military and veterans get the care and support they need while serving our country.

I am grateful for his service, sorry for his victims, and saddened for his loved ones. His wife and chilld need much support, and we know that his uncle and father admired him greatly. The hurt all around is very tragic.
