NV - Tesla Cybertruck explosion at Trump hotel in Vegas investigated as a possible terrorist act, 1 Jan 2025

There was someone standing several feet away from his truck when the conflagration began.

He was no expert on how big the explosion would be or how many people would be injured. If he wanted to only harm himself, he would have ended his life at home or in some remote location.

Choosing to ignite a bunch of bomb materials in the back of his truck while parked in front of a large, busy hotel on the Las Vegas strip meant he wanted to make a big splash and knew he would harm others. He knew what he was doing.

He was active duty military, so had access to all the health and mental health care he needed. He chose to resist getting help.
If he killed himself at home he would not have received nearly as much attention. His bombing equipment was basic for a pro. I'd also expect a manifesto of some sorts. Instead, he'd be angry if the politician he admired called him a terrorist.

This news story provides a good summary of the what we know about Matthew Livelsberger so far and has some additional information about his life.

Mystery continues to shroud Las Vegas Cybertruck bomber's motives, authorities say CBS News report on Las Vegas/Cybertruck 01/03/25.

So why didn’t he just stay home and commit suicide, if that was his goal? Why did he choose to build an IED and set it off in a public place, putting innocent people at risk?

Why did want to kill other people?

Because he was Rambo? He had to go out big.
I am now thinking he knew exactly how the Tesla would mechanically hold in all the bomb material.
More of a statement that he was NOT going to hurt people.

The Army is a great career choice, but many Soldiers have no exit strategy. Six months ago ML responded to several comments about this subject on LinkedIn. Not sure how long his profile will be active but linking to both comments and profile below:

Looks like a real friendly chat group within LinkedIn, doesn't it.
Were there no recent posts from ML? (geeez, i've been writing LM so much for Luigi Mangione, that I keep writing LM instead of ML...sorry, off topic)

New Orleans victim: The parents of 25-year-old New Orleans attack victim Matthew Tenedorio learned of their son’s death after they visited the morgue in an effort to find him. “Our son didn’t come home. We had to discover it on our own,” Kathy Tenedorio said on “Banfield.” “No one called us.” She and Louis Tenedorio said the coroner has confirmed their son was shot; however, they have not yet been allowed to see his body. “We’ll never be the same,” Kathy added

His uncle should stop talking, IMO.

Livelsberger 'could have fashioned a bomb that would have obliterated half of that hotel if he seriously wanted to hurt others,' his uncle Dean Livelsberger told The Independent.

'Think of Oklahoma City... [ex-Army soldier Timothy] McVeigh was just a normal soldier. Not a Tier 1 operator like Matt,' Dean Livelsberger added, referencing the 1995 homegrown terror attack that killed 168 people.

Traumatic Brain Injury
It seems out of line with a current active Green Beret in the US ARMY as described below.

He also seemed very enthusiastic about his new role.
In the end, I do hope it was a personal situation and this man took his life. No one else harmed. Pie to the face.. move on
However, IMO, our military (active duty), FBI, etc. must make sure this individual was not a victim.
——-
Livelsberger had access to high-level intelligence and was part of a special forces military unit which oversaw the operations and maintenance of drones.

Over his 19 year military career, Livelsberger worked in several critical roles which granted him access to sensitive intelligence and data.

In November 2024, he accepted a role as a remote and autonomous systems manager while stationed at Camp Panzer Kaserne just southwest of Stuttgart, Germany.

The TBI info came from an ex GF

Arritt said that Livelsberger’s behavior changed in 2019 after he returned from a tour in the Middle East with a traumatic brain injury. He became isolated. She believes that the depressive symptoms he showed went untreated because “it’s not acceptable to seek treatment when someone is in Special Forces.”

The Spokesperson’s description of Livelsberger, IMO, describes someone who would have many opportunities available upon entry to civilian life. (Years of experience, high level clearance, no criminal or behavior history)
—-
In a statement, an Army Spokesperson said, “U.S. Army Special Operations Command can confirm Livelsberger was assigned to the command and on approved leave at the time of his death. USASOC is in full cooperation with federal and state law enforcement agencies, but as a matter of policy, will not comment on ongoing investigations.”

Livelsberger received numerous recognitions including being awarded the Bronze Star Medal four times and a Bronze Star Medal with Valor. He also received the Army Good Conduct Medal five times.

Investigators confirmed Livelsberger was stationed at Fort Liberty in North Carolina, formally known as Fort Bragg but spent the majority of his time at Fort Carson in Colorado.

snipped: our military (active duty), FBI, etc. must make sure this individual was not a victim.

In one of the things I did read, some of his fellow officers were saying this as well... was it possible that someone else was forcing him to be driving this vehicle.

I have to admit, that was my thought when I first heard more about how the car blew up on the inside, but before we heard that he orally shot himself first.

I guess I do hope the FBI can absolutely determine that he was the perp and not a victim.

Arritt told the Denver Gazette Livelsberger was "like a kid with a new toy" in a series of texts before the blast. However, she said she found it strange that Livelsberger had reached out given they had split up in 2021.

FBI agents tracked Arritt down after reading the text messages between the pair and informed her that he had also reached out to other ex girlfriends in the days before his death, per the publication.

I have so many questions. Was Matthew Livelsberger actually seen on video as the driver of the Tesla on his route and his many stops to charge the vehicle? Someone could have killed him and stole his identity and phone. Someone else, using his ID, could have rented the Tesla and took it on a joy ride to Las Vegas. That same person could have texted random people and all the old girlfriends in his phone out of the blue. His body was burned beyond recognition and he was only identified by his ID? Was that even Matthew then? Why can't they use DNA to identify his body to be sure? He was Special Forces and his job was to work on drones? Does this have anything to do with all the recent drone sighting in NJ and elsewhere?

I don’t have definitive answers to your questions, but I am local here in Las Vegas and our news and the Las Vegas Review-Journal have shown clear camera views of someone who looks exactly like him in the driver’s seat driving down the Strip just before the explosion. There are so many cameras here, I don’t think his identity is in doubt at this point, but they will follow up with DNA or dental identification to make sure. By statute, the coroner must confirm the identity of the deceased. Jmo

I watched the video of the presser yesterday. There was a smart watch recovered along with his iPhone. That watch should tell his physical activity in its history. I hope to hear more about that.

He was identified by his distinct arm tattoos.
