NV - Tesla Cybertruck explosion at Trump hotel in Vegas investigated as a possible terrorist act, 1 Jan 2025

  • #621
The email tried to verify that it came from Livelsberger himself by including details about his life only he would know.

They included his first car being a 2006 Black Ford Mustang V6 and 'I have an active TSSCI with UAP USAP access'. Shoemate was not sure what that meant.

*One resident of the complex, Cindy Helwig, said she often saw Livelsberger with his wife and baby, walking their dog in the neighborhood.

*About two weeks ago, Helwig said, Livelsberger asked to borrow a tool he said he needed to fix his car. He had recently sold his Mustang, she added.

*First off, I am not under duress or hostile influence or control. My first car was a 2006 Black Ford Mustang V6 for verification.

I don’t have access to the article. Would you mind posting the entire paragraph regarding borrowing the tool and selling the car. Thank you much @imstilla.grandma

Yes - PII has intentionally been drawn to our attention. IMO

What could quickly appear to be the correct answer to a Personally Identifiable Question was included in his email. I don’t know if it is the correct answer. Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t.

My mind wonders why the person talking to chat GPT would want to avoid being in a position of providing PII in person in an effort to get a phone? That was a key detail to slip into that press conference.

FYI - The question isn’t the result of a negative toward the podcaster. Putting the Podcaster as an individual to the side it appears there is a clear message to this case around PII and identity in general.

Hope that makes sense.

Regarding ML's personal identifying information (PII), in my opinion it comes up when:

1. ML wants to ensure that the person he emailed, (Sam Shoemate, the retired Intelligence Officer) can verify that this email is, indeed, from him. Hence the reference to a car he owned previously which would be a personal identifier that could be verified.

2. ML wants to hide his identity when he buys a no-contract phone/pre-paid phone (what some call a "burner phone"). He is asking ChatGPT if buying such a phone requires some kind of identification because he wants to buy a phone and use it without revealing his identity. Makes sense since he believed he was being followed and that authorities were tapping his phone/listening to his calls. He doesn't know what is required to buy and/or activate such a phone.

I don't think it's more complicated than that.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), each CIVILIAN POSITION is categorized with respect to security into one of five groups:
  • Special Sensitive (SS)
  • Critical Sensitive (CS)
  • Non-Critical Sensitive (NCS)
  • Non-Sensitive (NS)
  • Public Trust (PT)

Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) Clearance

Most TTS employees hold moderate risk , external,Public Trust positions. Public Trust is a type of position, , external, not a clearance level, though GSA refers to it as a clearance level.

However, for certain projects, partners need TTS employees to have access to classified national security information. These employees need to be granted security clearance eligibility (a.k.a a security clearance) to be able to view this information.

This Handbook page covers only two areas: how to find your clearance status and how to submit a clearance upgrade request.

If you have detailed security clearance questions, review the TTS-only, offices and points of contact list on GSA InSite.

About two weeks ago, Helwig said, Livelsberger asked to borrow a tool he said he needed to fix his car. He had recently sold his Mustang, she added. The community is a mix of renters and homeowners, Helwig said, and residents keep to themselves — neighbors usually close their garage doors as soon as they come home from work. Helwig said she would often see Livelsberger bringing boxes into his home

I am curious what happened to change his mind from the Grand Canyon to the hotel in Vegas. It seems from these writings his intent was not to harm anyone else, but to make sure people saw and knew what happened. How did he get from going to the GC on the 31st to being in Las Vegas on the 1st and doing what he did there.

<modsnip: off topic>
I’m local to Las Vegas but have only been to the Grand Canyon West Skywalk once, a long time ago. ML seemed to indicate that he wanted to drive out onto the Skywalk and set off his explosives. You cannot access it to drive onto it. It’s simply not possible, and he may not have known that.

It may have been as simple as realizing it wasn’t logistically possible to blow up the Skywalk, so Las Vegas was the closest big city to draw headlines for setting off a car bomb. Jmo

@BrianEntin

Man who exploded Tesla Cybertruck at Trump hotel in Las Vegas used generative AI to help plan plot, police say.

"I repeat that I am not getting captured alive and I will also use the Cybertruck as a massive VBIED with a blast radius of 100m+ if needed.. it will have significant shrapnel."

That tells me that this wasn't a simple dramatic suicide, but that he was perfectly happy, like most suicide bombers, to hurt any people in the immediate vicinity. He was considering shrapnel as a plus, not a downside, and had that in mind when he chose the Cybertruck as the vehicle he would use.

I've been wondering for a while now WHY not just kill himself, why go out with a bang like he did? Reading what I bolded makes it even more confusing. He said he'd use the Tesla as a massive VBIED IF NEEDED. Also, that he'd use the truck to so he is "not getting captured". Shooting himself in the head was enough IMO. Going for a VBIED was unnecessary as you can't capture a dead man.

So basically the way he went about it there was always going to be an explosion. There was no way the Tesla wouldn't blow up/catch fire with all the ignitor he poured into the back. All that was for a "wake up call"? Why not simply write your wake up call message in a manifesto, or suicide note, and neatly take yourself out? A Grandiose personality? Likely, it was what I said in my 1st sentence... He wanted to go out with a bang. To be a martyr.

My wish for the new year? That he's quickly forgotten. He doesn't deserve the attention he's getting. Anyone that wants to off themselves, but also wants to take out innocents along with him is scum IMHO.

And he may not have wanted to have the explosion near the Skywalk, as that would potentially injure/harm bystanders in the area.

I don't think he cared. There was a woman standing just feet away from the car with her luggage.

I agree. I think we're just lucky he didn't do this on the middle of the Strip while one of the big theatres were emptying after a show. I'm not giving him the credit for not killing anyone but himself when he was perfectly happy to incite a political coup and genocide. A bunch of people seem to be overlooking that and focusing on his long service and medals. Since when does someone get a pass because they didn't do something awful earlier? That's defense attorney territory.

I agree entirely @iamshadow21 …. and IMO the location, vehicle, and apparent use of AI ChatGPT in materials preparation are an unusual intersection of parameters. I also am not convinced the deceased ML intended the vehicle to contain any detonation or explosive potential. Perhaps it was chosen for the opposite reason as you suggest. And the name of the vehicle may IMO have some relevance to his intent or any desired ‘statement’? MOO
He had no oin earns about harming others. He wouldn’t have known anything about the specs of the cyber truck to know it would contain an explosion. He had a political mission. He’s a domestic terrorist. I will always refer to him as one.

I’m currently in Florida, taking care of both of my ancient and very ill parents, so I haven’t kept up with the news.

I hadn’t heard about this part and had to search “VBIED.”

If this is what he declared prior to coming to Vegas, then that is a paradigm shift for me.

If he actually wrote there will be “significant shrapnel,” yeah, that kicks it way past being just a dramatic suicide.

IMO

Moo.. guess he did not know the cyber truck would contain the blast...moo

She said Liveslberger didn’t mention that his wife had just kicked him out accusing him of infidelity or that he was on his way to end his life.

As they look at how AI can be of benefit, tools such as Shazaam can help identify music or sounds in the background of hostage situations or crime scenes. The ability to speed up this task with an app is a huge game changer in the first 24 - 48hrs of a crime.

They didn’t give us (the public) a long enough clip in the Inside Edition Video at :40 but LE would have a longer clip. IMO

I agree. I’m surprised he didn’t know the specs. My nerdy male relatives are aware that Cybertrucks are advertised as being very strong. I first thought he was trying to contain the explosion, to make a dramatic statement but not harm anyone. I do not believe that any longer.

2018 Liveslberger Timeline
Source hyperlinked within quote

February: Matt returns Home from Afghanistan
“Several months into my deployment, Matt and his team returned home

Between February and Otober (9 Month Time Window)
-
meets AA on Tinder
-has at least one back surgery
-returns to Afghanistan

“Arritt and Livelsberger met on Tinder in 2018 and dated off and on for three years.”

“Livelsberger also had back surgeries in 2018 and 2019 relating to injuries he suffered during his military service, Arritt said. “He just says he landed bad (after parachuting) too many times. It was … cumulative,” she told CNN.

OCTOBER: Matt is back in Afghanistan
As I monitored chat and emails in our intelligence operations center days before leaving, I saw a familiar name sending plans for upcoming operations in southern Afghanistan: "MLivelsberger."

Matt had rotated back into Afghanistan after a brief reprieve
Our deployment had been eleven months, long enough for yet another ODA team to rotate into Helmand

2019
“We had worked on my Tesla together back in 2019, so it was kind of … he thought I would be excited about the Tesla,” she told CNN.

2022
Arritt stopped hearing from Livelsberger in July 2022
