I was under the impression that upon Col. Williams' death his assets were bequeathed to his wife and when she died the assets were then distributed to Alice and any other heirs. (Just my assumption based on other info previously posted... I could be wrong).

I understand that the photo was taken of Alice while she was shopping but do you know for sure that the others pictured aren't Anna and Roy? The lady behind her could very well be Anna and the boy in front of her...who knows? I've only seen one other picture of Roy and his head was down...

ETA - No reason for it to be impossible is there? By all accounts, they lived together and were close? They could have gone shopping together?

Thanks so much for finding and posting this link. I had not seen it before. I believe that Bess was Timothy's sister.

Herbert H Williams, Chauncy G Williams, Bess M Williams, Timothy S Williams, and Alice F Williams (Alice Parson's mother) - all siblings.

Roy was a tall, slender boy with dark brown hair. The boy in the photo looks plumper and had lighter hair, or at least in the photo it appears lighter. I don't believe it's Roy, but I couldn't swear to it.

I suppose the photo of the woman behind her might be Anna, I can see a possible resemblance. However, I figure if there had been a recent picture of the two women together, the press would have been all over it and the caption would have stated that both Alice and Anna were in the photo. JMO

It's certainly possible that the three of them went shopping together because, as you said, they lived together and were close. The quality of the photo makes it hard to completely rule out that it's of the three of them.

This is interesting, thanks for reminding me. IMO, Anna did have some connection with an economist with a name beginning with s - she's just doing that classic liar's thing of mixing a little bit of truth with a lot of fabrication.

Oooh. I bumped into a couple of interesting articles that I hadn't seen.

This one makes mention of a Lawrence F Deutzman claiming to be an "old family friend" suggesting that she may have left on her own accord. The same article makes mention of a search that was carried out in Chilmark, Mass in response to a tip that was communicated "The Parsons woman, kidnaped in New York can be found at the Robinson camp at Menemshaw."

I wonder what made Lawrence Deutzman think Alice had run away? Maybe she had confided in him at some point, in which case, I would really like to know what it was Alice told him. She doesn't strike me as having the type of personality which would lead people to think she had just run away. Maybe her marriage was not as content as it seemed.

Having said that, for all I know Alice and William running a squab farm might have been considered highly unusual and flighty in their social circle at that time.

Those photos are lovely. I realize now that much earlier, I mistook a picture of Anna in an article I found,for a picture of Alice. I shall have to go back and find it as it was quite a clear one and I believe there was a clear pic of Roy with her too.

Colonel Timothy Shaler Williams is his full name. He was a fascinating man, in my opinion. There is quite a bit of info out there in the "googleverse" about him. He's actually worthy of a book all of his own, although there wouldn't be many juicy details in his story.

There were a couple of photos of Anna in the newspapers. One of them shows her to be fairly attractive, but I thought she looked like the Wicked Witch in another photo:what:

I have a couple of photos of William, but they are from his college days. I don't have any photos of him closer to the time of Alice's disappearance, other than what I saw in the papers.

I have one particular favorite photo of Alice, but I couldn't find it earlier. I'll search for it and will post it as soon as I locate it.
