I find it very strange that they returned the girls rather than call 911 right away. My assumption was they were surprised, of course, and weren't thinking straight. Perhaps they thought that since the girls were Amish, their family wouldn't want to involve the police. But, that's not the rescuerers' decision to make. I don't know what to think of that except it's another odd piece in an odd story.
Regarding the girls seeing the red car, that might be entirely true. Or, it may be just a red car. I'm guessing they aren't practiced at identifying specific makes and types of cars. I'm not either - all cars are sort of the same to me except for size and color. I really don't pay attention because I don't care that much about cars, and I obviously live in a car culture. For these girls, they probably care less than I do and just saw red (literally and figuratively). But, if it's a real spotting of the real car, it's spooky. The perps went searching for the girls for recapture?
