You know who else worked with animals and used an aanimal sedative on their victims? Karla Homolka. She also claimed to be a victim. We all know how that worked out.
I wonder if the family asked LE to only pursue kidnapping. Not wanting to go through any sexual abuse routes, per their culture (it may make it very difficult for the girls to stay accepted) Also the girls may not have been allowed to have a full physical at the hospital, so they may not know exactly what took place with them. Sweet girls just living a peaceful life....such monsters out there
Interesting on SH's Fb on May 16 he posts a saying about you are responsible for everything you do...no one else (paraphrased)
FM and DM, just beautiful names. Those names so innocent and of yesteryear and of safety and home.
I sure hope these girls get back unscathed and untouched !
I think we have to be careful. And I am not trying to condescend you, or anything. It's just not true that they could be unaccepted if they were sexually assaulted. I don't think we should make comments on what we don't understand. I help with my friend's small business and they work with the Amish and Mennonite communities to resale their hand made goods. We chat with the Amish moms all the time, and I am very interested in their culture. They certainly would never, ever shun a child for being kidnapped and assaulted against their will. This crime has stunned them and made the community all over the country very fearful for their children. (Even though they don't use media, they all know. Word of mouth travels as fast as the internet.) They were all rejoicing when the girls were returned NO MATTER what happened to them.

Totally agree. We have a lot of Amish people near where I live (my last name is Amish and my children's lineage is Amish b/c of their dad's side of the family--former Amish). Amish people are not like a cult or anything (not that anybody said they were). They're compassionate and God fearing but wouldn't shun a family member for being a victim of a crime. I don't think anybody said the word "shun,", but I'd be surprised if they'd be any more "unaccepted" (by a potential mate??) than by anybody else who was the victim of a crime, in another culture.
Just my opinion based on what I know of the Amish.

How can someone that works with people (Do no harm!), and someone who has a psych major but works with animals (A vulnerable group) then choose to prey on the vulnerable and harm them???? This is one @*#$ world we live in!!! Too much evil exists.
The happier days, before deciding to kidnap and abduct little girls.

She has a public defender (so got it right away); his job makes him ineligible for that--he's been instructed to get a private atty. Her atty is already pointing the finger at him saying she's been his victim as well.
Could someone explain why his job (any job, for that matter) makes him in eligible for a public defender?
does he make too much money?
or...???
TIA...:seeya:
My hunch (JMO only) is that this couple met online, perhaps on a message board for people who have an interest in certain sexual fantasies. They were interested in each other online and then met in person, and they were perhaps active in real life pursuing their fantasies together.
All speculation on my part. I don't want to sleuth those online communities so I'm just going on a hunch. They seem like an odd pair to begin with and they almost instantly split up during the interview process with her blaming him as the initiator of the crime. I think their relationship was based on their mutual (creepy) interests and not much more, imo.
JMO, subject to change.
