I think they underestimated the Amish because of their lack of technology. I don't think they were expecting a witness, especially one who could speak English well enough to give a very good description. I also think they expected to have a lot more time to take care of things because there'd be no phone or car to use to contact the police, if they chose to. I wondered too if a friend was supposed to pick them up where they were dropped off; if not, why bother telling them to stay there? MOO

I very much agree with you about underestimating the Amish. They may live an unworldly life, but they can be quite resourceful and perceptive.

I hadn't given it much thought -- one of those things niggling at the back of my mind -- but your thoughts about motive for telling the girls to stay there are interesting. One of our sleuthers did discover that one of the visitors to "Steve's Place" (he listed it on FB as if it were a business) lives just about 3 miles away from where they were dropped off.

There is a gap, and I'm guessing the computer and recording equipment LE took will fill in the gaps. I'm wondering if live-streams were shared with their online community. I REALLY HOPE NOT, but that's been what I've assumed they wanted to do from the start. JMO.

I really think,you are correct...

So then... What about the people who were the virtual (or in person) voyeurs?

isn't there some culpability there?

The toque thing reminded me of something. On the night the girls were returned home, media was reporting her kidnappers were two men. One was wearing the toque. It was probably just a mistake on the part of media (we see enough of those). But can't help but wonder -- was NV the one wearing the toque -- maybe had her hair pulled up in it? Would the girls have mistaken her for a man? That doesn't make any sense though -- why would she disguise her appearance? Unless, they both had disguised themselves? With the idea that they'd eventually let the girls go, or pass them on to someone else or something?

I think that's a good possibility. SH has several cam accounts, though I wasn't able to see if/when they had been active.

The thought that NV had her hair pulled up in a toque has entered my mind too...

I thought I had read initially that the drivers were two MEN...

Just wondering what "cam accounts" means?

When I read the writings on his Fetlife account, he was planning on attending a local groups get together, he mentioned he would be bringing "his own table" of people, including his friends and his "brother who is also kink friendly" . On NV's page, she also mentioned she was planning on attending the same group meeting. Perhaps there was more to the location where the friend lives??

There are many type of meetings bit one favorite is the munch where people in the lifestyle get together at a local restaurant, buffet's are great for this, and meet and greet in a neutral type of setting. They may plan to go play at a club after but its a great way to get to know people especially if fairly new...i was off and flying after my first munch years ago. So these two may have meant that

Maybe this is why she has two mugshots. In one of them, she has her hair pulled back.

The red car sighting is very intriguing to me, too..

why was NV or SH (if it was their car) parked at that location?

and the decision as to where to drop the girls off has piqued my interest, too...

why there? Especially since this was a planned kidnapping... I would think there was a plan in place as to the location for the drop off....

However... Even if there was no plan in place for after the abduction and "activities"... Why was this specific location chosen?

:dunno:

A certain person who visited "Steve's Place" lives on County Road 18, less than a mile from the Stinson's house (I was originally thinking it was 3 miles away, until I found a newer address from that person's arrest in April 2014). I wonder if SH and NV had gone over there after leaving off the girls, and the girls saw the red car there when the Stinsons were running them home? (I need to look at those maps again showing the location of the Stinson home and the girls' home to see if Co. Rd. 18 would be the route the Stinsons would have taken). BTW, this person is friends with SH's mother, brothers, and ex-wife, which leads me to believe he may be either a relative or a very close family friend.

ETA: looked at the map, and yes, taking county road 18 would be one way that one would go from the Stinson's house to Huevelton.

I have been following this (I'm Penn Dutch and about 100 miles from there). http://www.cnn.com/2014/08/22/us/new-york-amish-girls-kidnapping/index.html?hpt=us_c2

Slaves - really? What were they thinking. People like this scare the manure out of me!:scared:

It seems like there is a very strong community that will help (Stinton's were awesome).:happydance:

:wagon: :greetings: So glad you posted Cranky! Wow, you really are pretty close to this. What has been the reaction in your community? Pretty much the same as the girls' community I would imagine. I remember the lady that spoke (Rain) regarding the Amish community. She said they are a resilient people and they live in the here and now and don't dwell on the past and they will move on from this near-tragedy.

I recently watched an ID show (Handsome Devil maybe?) that featured a story about an Amish man who left the Amish faith. He had a little boy he took with him when he left. Very sad story - the little boy ended up dying while in his care and he left him in farm field in Nebraska. He was discovered by a hunter and became known as "Little Boy Blue" until he was finally identified two years later. http://murderpedia.org/male.S/s/stutzman-eli.htm

Maybe that photo of the two of them together is from one of these events. They look like they are in a restaurant. It's the photo from her FB page and it shows up on many news articles.

Just wondering what "cam accounts" means?

Web Cam streaming accounts. I didn't dig too deep, but with a standard cam site, one person streams a live show and other people will comment or participate via a chat box.

I assumed that's what you meant but wanted to be sure. I don't use sites like that at all so I wouldn't even know where to begin to look, which ones are the most popular, notorious, etc.

Thanks for taking one for the team. I'm scared to go to those kind of sites for fear of catching a virus (NOT HSV) on my computer. Thought I had one the other day because I couldn't get their picture off my home page. Lawdy, I thought somebody had come up with a SH and NV virus..... I also didn't click on anything on his FB for fear of contamination and linking my computer to his computer that's probably loaded with child 🤬🤬🤬🤬. Next thing I know FBI will be knocking on my door. Need to fumigate my computer. If I owned the house where SH lived I would just bulldoze it completely down. Just get rid of it COMPLETELY and run over that old trailer house too. Couldn't clean it enough to get the creepy crawlies out for my liking. Maybe burn it down?? About ready to get my pitchfork and come up there and march (peacefully albeit) around the jail. :thewhip: Trying to come up with a chant. :stormingmad: :furious:

I don't use the sites either, but just googling his user names gave me a few pages of sites. I'm guessing if there was anything to find LE had already gotten to it.
