I have actually seen that done, in a way. Several years ago there was a case in Vegas I believe where LE needed the public's help to ID the child. They didn't show her face but they showed other images of her (something like a shirt she was wearing or some other identifiable clothing item, I can't recall exactly) and everything else in the still frame was blocked out. For me, it was brutal to even look at that since I *knew* where the image came from. I honestly don't think LE should ever do that, and don't recall any other case where it's been done (that made the national headlines, anyway).
Yeah there was a case on here that LE asked us to stop talking about that was similar and involved a little boy.
