SBM. Hi LietKynes, nice to see you here for Dom!

Just wanted to say... as a person who has extensively researched the Smiley Face killer theory for a couple of college level courses, and as a woman in their mid-twenties who lives in the Midwest and has known multiple of these young men personally who end up in the river, the SFK theory is completely unfounded. JMO!
THE SMK has been pretty much debunked. Here's a great paper on it. http://homicidecenter.org/wp-conten...-Brief-on-Smiley-Face-Murder-Theory-FINAL.pdf

I was just rereading through the thread, to see if we missed anything, since there has been no more details released. I was looking at the map you posted, @Knox. and noticed that Dom's residence was just under one mile from where Dom's vehicle was found. I'm not a runner, but it seems strange IMO that he drove there, when he lived so close to the river, and so close to the running trail. My spouse has run for years, and he never drives to a place to run, but maybe other do.

Google Maps

If I go back to your map, @Knox, that has Binghampton University marked on it, I'm thinking that Dom could have been driving towards the University, and just stopped along the way.
I thought about that too, the bridge he would take is right there. No media updates? I find it odd everything has went so silent.

Searching For BU Professor, Endicott Resident Continues

It's been almost two weeks since a Binghamton University Professor went missing.

Last seen near the block of River Terrace in Endicott, Davy's mother said he would work out in the early mornings.

"Because of what's going on now and everywhere is closed, the gym is closed, he does his own thing. So he got up and went out to go his normal routine and he just never returned," said Paulette Brooks, Dominic's Mother.

Endicott police say they've conducted river searches with sonar technology that were unsuccessful. They don't believe it's suspicious yet, and continue to search.

Scratching my head ... LE doesn't believe what is suspicious? His disappearance?

Not to be argumentative, but there's a reason the process isn't easy, and ultimately the pressure comes from the individual themselves, not the professor or institution (not one of my professors ever told me I was obligated to work myself ragged, they just assigned the work and graded what I chose to submit -- it was all on me as to how much work I chose to put in to get an end result I found satisfactory.) Just like with anything worthwhile, it involves a considerable amount of work to achieve the end goal, and the process culls out those who may not be able to adequately perform the job duties that go with the respective career. I would love a doctor's salary, but I'm not nearly motivated enough to pursue that degree because I am much too lazy to put in the work it requires -- imagine what a terrible doctor I would be if getting credentialed were that easy...

The bottom line is that you don't have to endure any mental anguish to have a career and live your life, there are plenty of paths out there that are happily and successfully followed by those who don't wish to endure the rigors that go along with pursuing an advanced degree.
Thank you for saying this. I got my Ph.D. in my late 30's and even without a family at the time it was super stressful, but never to the point I couldn't handle it. People deal with stress is so many ways whether it be kids, jobs, education, or health and there's no telling whether this young man just walked away or decided something more final. I simply pray that his family finds him and brings him home.

Search continues for missing Binghamton U. professor Dominic Davy, who 'lit up a room'

May 6 (1 pm)
Endicott police are continuing to ask for help from the public in their efforts in locating Dominic Davy, who was last seen almost a month ago in Endicott.
Police ask for the public to review any video footage they may have. This is in an effort to see if Davy or his Jeep can be seen in any footage. Police said several ground and river searches have been conducted.

More than a dozen of Davy's students have shared a YouTube video, where they talk about what he means to them. One student said, "He was selfless, he lit up a room as soon as he walked into it, he always put the needs of his students first, he always had his students' backs, and it's our time to have his, so let's bring Dom home."

A Facebook page, Help Bring Dom Home, has garnered nearly 6,000 followers and was created in an attempt to spread the word about Davy's disappearance. A $2,000 reward is being offered for information leading to his return.

Such a sweet & thoughtful video one of his students created with the help of others! Such kind words! It made me want to cry...

Thank you for posting this, even if I had trouble finishing it due to tears running down my face.

What a wonderful video...showing the impact this one person had on others.

:(:(:(

After seeing this video, wild horses couldn't drag me to the idea that nothing suspicious happened. It is painfully obvious to me that Dom would have never left his students, every one of them showed up for his online class. Every one. He is very much invested in his students' success and wellbeing. He says..BEYOND his regular office hours, he is available anytime by phone. IMO this is a highly dedicated professional who would not leave his students. On top of that, he went missing during a regularly scheduled activity. I do not understand why this isn't investigated as suspicious after seeing his work. IMOO.

Not sure I can agree with you on this. I'm not saying that nothing suspicious happened, as I don't know that for sure, but I'm equally, if not more so, comfortable saying that mental health issues can hit anyone. If you haven't dealt with this with a loved one, you just might not get it. It's tough. It's not simple. It's not tidy.
If someone is in such pain, it doesn't matter that they are leaving behind people who admire and love them. They truly believe that the world will move on, perhaps better, without them. (As sad and incorrect as that is.)

I am not feeling something nefarious here. This amazing person seemed to be struggling. There is likely nothing anyone could have done. :(

I do understand everything that you are saying. So sad, if true. I just hope that this has been investigated very seriously as he went missing during a regular activity.

I hope they are still looking at the Susquehanna. It is a winding river, probably high in spring, goes through a lot of rural, hilly and forested area.
It flows west at Binghamton.

Reading through this whole thread for the first time just now, this Twitter stuff spotted by @Thecatsaway really jumps out at me:

...Out of curiosity, I found his Twitter account: @doomyay
The last post was written late on April 8th around 12:30am. It says:

"Am not smacked enough, or do I really don’t wanna do it."

To me, this sounds like he was saying "Am I not high/drunk enough, or do I not want to do it" with "it" possibly alluding to self-harm, suicide, running away, etc. His last liked tweet was one in which a person was lamenting the loss of someone:

"A student texted me “He’s gone” and I just started to cry. Did the best I could to counsel them but this is all so hard over the phone. Trying times for everyone."
...

The tweet he “liked” came from a Twitter user at the same university, and had been posted by that person at 3:52am on Weds Apr 8.

I'd be looking very closely at this liked tweet and who it referred to - who was the “student” who called the original poster, and what is the identity of the “he” referred to who was “gone”. Was that person connected to Dom?

These two items really stand out from all the other tweets, retweets and likes on his account, and more so given the timing - the last things he tweeted and liked before disappearing a little over a day later.

Help Bring Dom Home

We have been getting a lot of questions from concerned folks about how the search for Dom is going, what we have checked, what we know and do not know. We appreciate that people care so much, and in order to get everyone on the same page, here is an account of what has taken place so far:
- Searches led by PLOT, friends, family and community members of the immediate forested area by where his car was left
-Searches by law enforcement of river, and surrounding forested area both in person and by drone

-Places/Things that have been checked and tabs are being kept on: Local hospitals, Dom's cellphone social media accounts and smart devices, local jails, homeless shelters

-The state police, local municipality in the Binghamton area, and surrounding municipalities have all been sent Dom's info.

Thank you for the update. I would love to see a reporter contact LE and share what they were told. Seems outside of private searches and updates, this case is luke-warm.

It seems as if there is no information being shared anywhere, especially regarding theories as to what may have happened. I've spoken with several people who live in and around the area, including two people who live on River Terrace, and there's been no gossip at all. My sister-in-law works at BU and has in turn talked to her coworkers, and same thing -- no info, no gossip, no speculation. From the Help Find FB page, it almost seems as if they think he stepped out of his life temporarily and just needs encouragement to come home. It's all very strange and I don't know what to think.
