Found Deceased NY- Dominic Michael Davy, 30, Endicott, 10 April 2020

...From the Help Find FB page, it almost seems as if they think he stepped out of his life temporarily and just needs encouragement to come home. It's all very strange and I don't know what to think...

My feelings exactly. The underlying tone, high production values, careful use of imagery etc. Every time I look at that FB page I get an overwhelming sense they are trying to send him messages, comfort and reassurance to return. It’s quite unlike most other missing persons FB pages/desperate pleas for public sightings that I’ve seen before.

Understanding where Dom’s head was at in the 24-48 hours before he departed (with laptop) supposedly for his early morning run seems increasingly important to resolving this. And therefore I’m still a bit preoccupied with that last tweet and last “liked” tweet on his Twitter feed.

It seems as if there is no information being shared anywhere, especially regarding theories as to what may have happened. I've spoken with several people who live in and around the area, including two people who live on River Terrace, and there's been no gossip at all. My sister-in-law works at BU and has in turn talked to her coworkers, and same thing -- no info, no gossip, no speculation. From the Help Find FB page, it almost seems as if they think he stepped out of his life temporarily and just needs encouragement to come home. It's all very strange and I don't know what to think.
I agree and it seems LE may have the same thoughts. Hoping it's true, all of his concerns/issues can be addressed with the help of those who love him. No shame, just love and support. We all get overwhelmed at some point in our lives.

Police say "numerous leads" have been pursued.
Criminal activity is not expected but has not been ruled out, they say.

Same here!

The find Dom fb page has such beautiful photos of Dom with his family. It’s such a wonderful sight to see how much love is evident within those shared photos, but at the same time makes it so terribly sad that a loved one is still missing.

I was sure hoping that I would check on Dom tonight and he would be home safe and sound with his sweet family.

Where are you Dom? We are all rooting for you

I don’t really know all the details involved in pinging or tracking a person’s cellphone.

According to Bring Dom Home fb page (May 8 post), it was shared that LE “has been tracking his phone, no pings since he was last seen.”

I guess my question is:
-are they using tracking & ping as synonyms? Meaning LE has checked if his phone has pinged?
OR
-are they meaning no pings from phone but LE are tracking his phone by other means (social media, records, etc)?

Also:
-can a phone only be tracked if it is turned on?

SORRY if these are silly questions.

This was not the ending I had hoped for, I really thought there was a solid chance he was on a self-imposed time out. :(
My deepest condolences to Dominic's loved ones~

I had the same thoughts and was sad to learn otherwise. My heart goes out to his friends and family...

That poor kayaker.
So devastating.

My deepest condolences to Dominic's family and loved ones. While we may have expected this, there was still hope that he would be found alive. I wish I could hug each and everyone of his family, friends and students.

Stay strong and always remember that Dom was an inspiring person.

Outward appearances can be deceiving, especially with depression and private issues.

Rest in peace, Dominic.

I have no words. This is not how I prayed this would end. How heartbreaking.
