Ya know.......only Shinbach has injuries consistent with a guy that was the killer. Slashed hands, etc. Maybe the guy in the video is a set up guy.

The slashed hands are defensive wounds, when you have your hands up blocking an attacker with a knife. Do you know if the killer had injuries?

I don't much agree with the below article or the road the investigation seems to be taking. I think the answers are much simpler than LE and the "experts" are making them out to be. Such as the woman's clothing and the diapers do belong to a woman. And Shindach was the target because, well let's see...the suspect said he was going to see him! So what does LE do? Investigate the supposed Faughey connection when she may have been nothing more than in the wrong place at the wrong time and goes after her friend who doesn't resemble the suspect at all.

I know I sound like a broken record. And I could be completely wrong in my theory. So I'll stop ranting and post the link below:

The adult diapers Kathryn Faughey's killer left behind is a sick sign that he had more than murder on his mind.
"It suggests a perverse sexual angle to this," said Dr. Louis Schlesinger, a profiling expert at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. (more at link)

ETA: Shindach is most likely traumatized beyond belief. But he is the only one who ID'd a person who looks nothing like the sketch or surveillance tape. Trauma or something else, I have no idea.

If some of the knives were bent, he would have had some cuts from the force.

The hunt for the savage beast who butchered an Upper East Side therapist has hit a roadblock - because detectives can't access her patients' medical records under federal privacy laws, The Post has learned.
Police believe the meat-cleaver-wielding psycho who killed Kathryn Faughey on Tuesday night inside her office on East 79th Street could be the doctor's patient - and need access to her records to identify him

I was wondering about the ID'ing of the suspect also. While there was the female patient waiting and the killer was chatting it up with her, i'm guessing they weren't sitting face to face in the waiting room; usually chairs may be next to each other. So i'm wondering while this killer was acting "normal" and chatty was there direct eye contact between him and the patient waiting for Shindach? Granted Shindach was traumatized, yet he would have recognized the killer if he knew him. After taking his wallet with license, the killer had the license and told him he knew where he lived. If he really had intentions of kidnapping Faughey (despite knowing the layout of the building; you'd think he'd know there was cameras also); maybe he asked for Shindach at the desk/doorman since he was trying to get an idea if Faughey would be in the office alone or not. I would think the female patient who was there also is traumatized as well, from what the articles say, there was blood everywhere. The killer kills Faughey and attempts to kill Shindach, yet leaves the female patient who is witness untouched for the most part. So despite it being a premeditated crime, i'm not sure if the killer planned on there being any other people in the office at the time. By asking the doorman to see Shindach, he would also be confirming whether or not Shindach would be in his office, giving him an idea how many people he may have to be dealing with. Does anyone know at one time at night do their latest appts end? The killer goes at night, as during the day there would be a greater risk of more people seeing him.
Did he really intend to kidnap Faughey? Or was the suitcase bit more of a "decoy" or half a$$ed part or his plan?
The scary part is that he went from being a "normal" acting person in the waiting room, and turned into a raging killer in Faughey's office. All the while knowing he was going to kill.

I'm sure the doorman is feeling like a complete idiot right now. But basically there was no interaction between the doorman and the suspect. He merely walks quickly past the doorman saying he has an appointment with Shindach. No check in, sign in, verification or anything.

I believe the bag was part of the plan as it contained the weapons. The suitcase? Who the heck knows. Maybe he initially intended to remove a body with it. But then why bother filling it up with clothing and diapers?

Could he have thought the diapers would absorb blood and fluids from a body packed inside the suitcase?

Good thinking. I wonder were trash bags in there too? I wonder what all was in there?

Maybe he planned on there not being anyone else in the office and was going to hack her up and dispose of the body elsewhere. Which would explain the suitcase and all those knives. It's a horrific thought, yet anything's possible in this world we live in. =(
I think he went in there unsure of how many people would be in there at the time with him. When he realized that there was 2 others aside from Faughey in the offices, he probably just went crazy and killed her. From the amount of overkill done to her, i think she was the intended target. It seems the killer was in a frenzy from what was reported at the scene.

i don't think the doorman should feel like an idiot....a doorman doesn't screen folks coming in & out of a bldg...he just opens the door & greets them, & if they have any questions about where they're going...

Didn't the doorman and other people in the lobby hear the screams? :(

hadn't thought of that...hmmm
one article said LE thinks he was going to use the one bag, which was a folded type bag, to possibly take the body out.....

strange that the woman said it wasn't Kunsmen (sp) & Shinbach said it was....you would think both of them, got a good look at his face....her sitting in the office with him, then him coming out & trying to shove her in a bathroom....then there's Shinbach who i would think had to get a good look at him too....

not sure what i think......the guy says he's going to see Shinbach, but Shinbach has a patient already waiting for him, so the guy walks into another office & kills a different shrink......didn't the woman waiting say she heard the screams about 30 minutes later???....what was the guy doing in Faughey's office prior to killing her, for that length of time?...he obviously didn't walk in & start immediately stabbing/hacking her up.....i have to assume that he was talking to her....

eta....

Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said the slasher arrived at 8 p.m., telling the doorman he had an appointment with Shinbach, then sat in the waiting room with another of Shinbach's patients until she went into his office around 8:30 p.m.

so the guy goes into Faughey's office AFTER the woman waiting goes into Shinbach's office...that's where the 30 minute timeframe came from....

i think so too.....:(

firstly, my sympathies go out to this woman's family, friends, associates and patients.

this case has 3 people who definitely saw the perp...the doorman, the woman in the waiting room, and the other psychiatrist who was attacked. That would seem to me to be a very good start, more than alot of cases have. He must have been there before because he knew Shinbach's name.

In most waiting rooms the "clients" do sit facing each other ...what I am trying to say is that the doctor's don't normally do anything to give their clients anonymity.

Think about the diapers, who was the last person we heard of that used diapers...the lady astronaut. Maybe this perp was planning to drive very far away after his crime and didn't want to stop anywhere to be identified or anything. Honestly that's the first thing that came to mind when I heard there were diapers in the suitcase.

Here's another thought...maybe this guy was a patient's husband. Say, the victim had his wife for a patient and encouraged her to get a divorce or something like that...and the guy is enraged and blames the doctor for influencing his wife and ruining his life or finances. I know my ex blamed my counselor for influencing me.
