Which prison would she go to? Not one of the cushy Fed prisons I hope.
She was convicted under federal laws so it will be federal prison.

Raising my small little glass, to all victims of sexual predators. There is Justice!

The hubris of Ghislaine has been really surprising to me. She could have easily gone to whatever rock she crawls under in France. It is unlikely she would have been extradited to the United States.

OMG !! YAY !!! GUILTY !!!!
I have been following all day long, whilst working, got stuck on a conference call, so was not following, turned on the news and saw and heard "Breaking news"--- Maxwell found Guilty !!

Well done jurors, well done.

Time for a cocktail now :)

Isnt it possible she might be transferred over here to serve her sentence after some time?
Only way I see that is if there is a political deal with the UK government. She was living in the US when she was arrested and is a naturalized US citizen.

It looks like the original Fox livestream ended, but there now seems to be another one (with commentary)

@jkbjournalist
Maxwell did not look at the jury as it filed in the court at 5 pm. As the verdict was read Maxwell struggled to stand, but said nothing.

@MarlonEttingerHer lawyer — Jeffrey Pagliuca —placed his arm around Maxwell’s shoulders. She barely looked at her family as she was led out of the court by the federal marshals.
Ghislaine was shaky after the verdict. She poured herself a glass of water after the verdict was read out.

BBM.
I'm sure she didn't because she knew she was guilty. Maybe not in their eyes but her own.

This doesn't bode well for Prince Andrew....maybe Ghislaine can bargain for a reduced sentence if she cooperates in his trial. (LOL).

Oh, what a relief. Trafficking and sexual abuse is finally punishable by law. Message to the rich and powerful.

@BUF I don't weep easily. Thank you for being here, posting facts and evidence.
I wept with joy along with you @Chelly . Thank you also for being here, posting along with everyone else as we held hands together waiting for this verdict.

Most of all, incredibly happy for those brave women who testified.

ooops…can’t forget to thank all of those hard working jurors!

5 of 6 counts. She will go away for a long time?

Up to 65 years. Even with breaks, at her age, she will likely spend the rest of her worthless life in prison.

  • #391
I wonder how long it will take to schedule the sentencing hearing?

Fasten your seatbelts folks.
I predict this case is about to get crazier than it already is.
Let us remember that the Perp in question holds lots and lots of very sensitive information about some powerful men.

Let's see what happens from here.....

Amateur opinion and speculation

Over and over again in the 418-page deposition, Ms. Maxwell, 58, rejected accusations of wrongdoing. She denied that she had recruited minors to give Mr. Epstein sexual massages. She denied that she knew he was abusing girls and young women. She denied having engaged in sexual acts herself with underage people.

“I can’t think of anything I have done that is illegal,” she said.

At one point, Ms. Maxwell was asked more than a dozen times if she believed that Mr. Epstein had abused any minors — and each time she failed to answer. At another point, she parried inquiries about a laundry basket of sex toys, telling the lawyer asking questions, “I need you to define a sex toy.”

I'll bet she's wishing that she would have done just that! Too late now though! I'm so glad she didn't.

I wouldn't be surprised.

To be honest considering her lawyer said in an article he was thinking of calling Charles and Meghan i wonder how much evidence they even have against Andrew.

Isnt it possible she might be transferred over here to serve her sentence after some time?
It's a possibility but only if there are no outstanding appeals. Don't know if the US would agree to UK reduction of sentences/eligibility for parole etc. in this case (underlined).
6.7 Is transfer to the UK a possibility?
In theory, yes, but not all states offer this. If you wish to apply for a transfer to the UK, you should ask your classifications officer at the facility for the relevant paperwork as you will need to submit the application through them.

The International Prisoner Transfer Program (“IPTP”) applies to any British national who has been sentenced and is serving their time in a federal or state prison. County jail inmates cannot apply, as their sentences are less than 12-months in duration. There are a number of criteria that the applicant must meet to be eligible for transfer:

  • you must be a British citizen or have close family ties with the UK
  • criminal proceedings against you in the USA must be complete – you cannot be transferred if you are awaiting trial or the outcome of an appeal
  • you must normally have at least 6-months of your sentence left to serve before applying
  • the offence you were convicted of must also be a criminal offence in the part of the UK you wish to be transferred to
  • you must have no outstanding fines or non-custodial penalties
A federal prisoner who wants to apply for transfer to a prison in their home country should contact their classifications officer at their facility and request that a transfer application package be prepared. Their application package will be forwarded to the International Prisoner Transfer Unit at the US Department of Justice where it will be processed and a decision to approve or deny the transfer will be made.

A state prisoner interested in transfer should contact their classifications officer at their facility. In order for a state prisoner to obtain a transfer to their home country, their application must be approved at both the state and federal levels. If the state doesn’t approve the transfer request, it cannot be considered by the United States Department of Justice. Often, many states do not approve transfer requests.

If the US Department of Justice approves your transfer, it will be sent to the relevant authority in the UK (Ministry of Justice in England and Wales) for a decision on whether to agree to your transfer; it must be agreed by both the sentencing country and the receiving country. Once both countries approve, you must formally consent to this transfer at a consent verification hearing where you will also be ordered deported. The administration costs of the transfer are handled by the UK and foreign authority, but you must agree to repay the cost of the airfare.

If you are transferred to the UK, the completion of your sentence is carried out in accordance with the laws and procedures of the UK, including those governing the reduction of the term of confinement by parole, conditional release, or otherwise. The application can take up to 18-months to be approved, but in some cases it can be longer. There is no guarantee of approval, indeed many applications are denied each year. You should note that the majority of the denials are by the United States authorities.

The FCDO produces a leaflet, ‘Transfers Home for Prisoner’s Abroad’ that may answer many of your questions. Please contact your consular representative if you would like a copy.

Just heard the verdict and I'm absolutely thrilled. This was a jury that approached their task with due diligence, asked the judge questions to clarify certain points and weren't going to be rushed in reaching their verdict.

This is yet another massive win for the MeToo movement where even more women will now have the courage to come forward to stop the disgusting abuse by rich and powerful people. I hope there are a lot of people shaking in their boots today.

I hope she spends the foreseeable future in prison where she'll have all the time in the world to reflect on her sordid past and the harm she's caused to others.

Thanks to everyone here for all the updates. It was hugely appreciated by me and I'm sure many others.
