It's a 2016 deposition in the civil case between VRG and GM. Here's a direct link, but be warned, it's excruciating to read and there's over 400 pages of GM being a d***.

You're not wrong at all!!!! Right from the beginning she's....... difficult. And I'm only on page 32.

I'm very interested how her life behind bars will be. Will she stay in solitary or go into gen pop and take her chances? Would she last?

MOO, she will go to some minimum security camp, like Martha Stewart, when she served her time. I don't think anyone really cares about GM. Her problem, will be her attitude. If she accepts her role, stays to herself, she can do okay.

If she acts superior to others, and doesn't show proper respect, especially to guards, things won't go well for her. I am not sure that her last year in her own cell, with tons of time with her attorneys has really helped her adapt to her new situation.

LOL, just had to check the tweets this morning and found this…

Blink, and you may have missed the big news that came down shortly before the Ghislaine Maxwell verdict—in the same courthouse. “Federal Judges Order Release of Jeffrey Epstein Civil Settlement at Issue in Lawsuit Against Prince Andrew” https://lawandcrime.com/high-profile/federal-judges-order-release-of-jeffrey-epstein-civil-settlement-at-issue-in-lawsuit-against-prince-andrew/… via
@lawcrimenews

By my calculations, this news broke a little more than an hour before it was made known the Maxwell jury had reached a verdict.

Scott Borgerson before, during and after Madam Maxwell:

He apparently ended his first marriage to be with GM, captivated by the circles of power she made available to him, friends say.

They secretly married in 2016 but he left her to face the music alone in the courtroom while he jaunted around his exclusive New England town in sports cars, often in the company of an attractive new female friend, Kris McGinn.

As lurid details unfolded in GM's trial, he remained 200 miles away at the secluded, $3.9 million waterfront estate he once shared with her. A neighbour said he “Apparently has more important things to do” than appear by her side in court.

His girlfriend is a well-connected journalist for a local newspaper and is in the process of divorcing her husband. In June 2020 she dropped her married name and her husband lists his relationship status as “single” on social media. While SB lives in luxury, she rents a home, humble by Manchester standards. A source says the two have spent weekends together when she didn’t have to watch her children and that she was “bubbling” about the relationship. Most of their time appears spent trying to avoid the public eye, often at his isolated oceanfront home. He “doesn’t seem to have a lot of friends around right now. I haven’t seen him in a month,” the source added.

He founded a shipping data company that was valued at $100 million in 2016, Business Insider reported. He reportedly stepped down as CEO last year due to intense media interest surrounding his rumoured links with GM. His personal profile and the success of his company began to rise soon after meeting her in 2013. He was painted as a social climber “famous for name-dropping,” happily latching onto her for her powerful connections. He bragged that he and GM enjoyed lunch with former President Bill Clinton, “just the three of them.”

SB and GM appeared to hide their marriage, even among friends in their tight-knit Massachusetts community. The romantic nature of their pre-marriage relationship had also been kept a secret for years. GM’s siblings only learned of the marriage in 2020 when helping to prepare her $28.5 million bail package.

SB was married to his first wife when he reportedly grew infatuated by GM and her high-powered international lifestyle. He left his wife for GM around 5 years ago and they divorced in 2015. Divorce records paint a disturbing picture of SB, with accusations of him being physically violent, abusive, ‘extremely controlling’ and having an alcohol problem the Daily Mail reported in 2019. “Borgerson … once allegedly threatened her, saying: ‘Don’t make me beat you in front of the children.’”

Ghislaine Maxwell's mysterious hubby Scott Borgerson now MIA

She really knows how to mix with the lowlifes of this world so should feel quite at home in her new big house.

#GhislaineMaxwellTrial facts: it lasted a month (Nov 29-Dec 29, with 2 short breaks). There were 24 government witnesses and 9 defense witnesses over 12 days. The jury (6 women & 6 men) deliberated for roughly 40hrs thr 6 days (5 full days). The verdict was their 16th note

The jury asked for testimony of 14 witnesses (10 gov witnesses, 4 defense), an FBI deposition, and office supplies, including a white paperboard and different colored Post-Its. Sentencing has not been scheduled yet and the sentence is ultimately at the sole discretion of th judge

No trial participants got COVID that we are aware of. As of yesterday and per her attorney, the defendant had yet to be provided with a booster shot at fed prison MDC in Brooklyn, where Maxwell has been held since July 2020. She has remained in isolated cell & under suicide watch

Maxwell still faces a second trial, if the gov decides to move forward with two perjury counts that defense had asked to be severed and to which the judge agreed. Each count carries max 5 years. She was composed throughout most of the trial and we barely saw her behind the mask

Maxwell was very warm with her defense team. She almost always smiled abd hugged each of them upon arrival and departure. In the last couple of days of the case, she seemed a bit tense at times. She also showed some frustration with the judge when Nathan agreed with th government

JE was sentenced under state guidelines. Not federal. And I don't think GM really "knows" dirt on anyone. She is so self serving, she would have already disclosed it. She would have thrown anyone under the bus in a heartbeat.

GM did what JE wanted, to keep in his "circle". No matter how depraved. As long as she was useful, she was kept around.

I think she has dirt,I also think she is smart enough to keep it to herself.
I honestly think she believed she would walk on this, she would do her time on remand to keep herself safe and then be found not guilty and be home free. Arrogance tends to male people believe they are untouchable!

I think this saga is just really starting. There is a lot at stake here, for a variety of influential people, is my amateur opinion and speculation.
It will be very interesting to see how this progresses.

I did some research on sentence reduction for cooperating with the government. From what I see there are two avenues: one is before sentencing (Rule 5k1.1 of the Sentencing Guidelines) and one is after sentencing (Rule 35(b) of the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure). Both avenues require the government to file a motion with the court.

Apparently a 5k motion usually occurs in the context of a plea agreement, but a guilty plea is not mandatory. In a 5k motion the government asks the court to depart downward from the sentencing guidelines based on substantial assistance by the defendant in investigating or prosecuting a crime. A Rule 35 motion allows the government to make a motion to reduce a sentence after a sentence has been imposed based on the convicting person providing substantial assistance to the government. Rule 35. Correcting or Reducing a Sentence. Here again, a guilty plea is apparently not a requirement.

Fell free to correct if you think this is wrong. JMO.
Would this be true even for sex offenders? Especially with minors? Maybe the rules are SUPER stringent for them?

I think now the REAL negotiations begin.

I believe GM knew she was going to lose this case, so her real effort is going to be negotiating information on other perps for a reduction in sentence. I think she has been thinking about this all along and we should expect to see other people involved.
If she knew she was going to lose the case, surely she would have plead guilty and avoided trial? Trial was a detour on the way to sentencing if she knew she was guilty. She could have cut to the chase. IIRC she would have had a lesser sentence for taking responsibility (which she doesn't at all).

IMO the fact that GM doesn't think the charges are warranted, and takes no responsibility, makes me think she had NO idea she was going to lose.

Also, does anyone know if her treatment of everyone while in jail will add to her sentence? There was all that stuff about not wanting to clean her toilet, and being forced to clean it.... That's prolly the tip of the iceberg as far as how she treated staff. And, I mean, if she couldn't cooperate with authority to the extent of cleaning her own toilet, well, that's serious non-cooperation. This might not work out for her in sentencing....

Time for GM to start "yes ma'am-ing" and "no sir-ing" up the wazoo.

I agree I think she thought there was no way she would lose, but she was wrong. One would think she would plead out to avoid the dirty details being published.

Her sister Isabel Maxwell was in the courtroom almost every single day, so was friend Leah Saffian. Brother Kevin was there for the bulk of it too. Christine Maxwell showed up for jury deliberations.

Brother Ian and Ghislaine’s husband Scott Borgerson were never seen in court

IIRC sex offenders are disqualified from the camps.

I think she will go to a regular federal prions facility. She very well may have extra supervision due to what happened to JE, but other than that, she will be just another inmate.

Regarding this deposition.... So, she was "difficult" and she lied. Will this work against her in the sentencing memorandum or whatever they prepare?

I don't think she had any idea she would really be convicted. After all, JE got a very cushy deal in FL. I think her arrogance ruled her decisions. If she was ever going to talk, I think she already would have done so. That, however, would require that she admit her crimes and complicity and IMO, will never happen. I don't think she believes she did anything wrong. These were little throw away people, who would believe them over her? And what does it matter what happened to them? They took the money, so as far as she was concerned, it was done.

There are rumors that she had copies of all those videos. I wonder if she thought one of the boldface names was going to sweep in and save her from all this. After all, she rubbed elbows (ahem) with two former presidents (although both have been impreached, one twice, so not really known for their honesty), members of royalty and several big shots in the finance, tech and legal world. I wonder if it was surprising to her that none of them stepped up to support her.

I don't think she's suddenly going to have an epiphany and come clean

For anyone who hasn't read any of the deposition she did, I encourage you to read at least a bit of it. I spent an afternoon a while back reading through it and it is a masterclass of saying absolutely NOTHING. Pages and pages and pages of no straight answer to anything. It's incredibly frustrating to even read, I can't imagine the frustration the attorneys deposing her felt.
