GM, no doubt, assessed her targets. Unfortunately, growing up in a home with a single parent, who may be just trying to survive, forget parenting, attention from a wealthy patron would have been seen as positive.
Yes that is true. To support your claim, rather thsn get off topic, my single mother was thrilled by it starting when I was raped at 16 by a local celebrity . She thought my looks were my “best asset”.

Liking your post wasn't enough @Sheila Terranova. Big big {{{ HUGS }}} to you. I am so sorry you had to endure that. This case has brought up so many deep wounds which many of us are reliving . The pattern shown over and over again in court, of GM grooming younger girls all while KNOWING that each and every one had a scab that she could rip off. She was a master at identifying the wounded. Grrrrrrr

And hugs again!

I am sorry that happened to you.

At the time, many believe they are "lucky". It was definitely more attention than they received at home.

The problem is that the attention is subjective, you are only the "favorite" until they find a new favorite. And all it does it validate that "you" are nothing. Just what teen girls who have low self esteem need.

These girls already knew that they were not the most beautiful, popular, or had a plan for attending college. This was a bit of excitement. And probably the parents either didn't care, or if they did, it was a point of either encouraging the activity as positive, or a point of rebellion and contention for the teen to argue about and hide.

The point is, that GM targeted the weakest, most exploitable. That is why she is beyond redemption. There definitely isn't any contrition.

Back in the day, it was a predators dream.
They pick you carefully.
You ,the victim ,just push it down .
Doubt yourself, life, others.
A big part of you is changed forever.

Ghislaine Maxwell could cooperate after guilty verdict and flip on Jeffrey Epstein’s powerful accomplices, legal experts say

Former Manhattan federal prosecutor Elie Honig said the earlier a defendant cooperates with prosecutors, the better the outcome for both sides. If Maxwell were to cooperate at this late stage in her case, delays to her sentencing would signal to Epstein accomplices that she’s flipped — all but eliminating the element of surprise.

“That said, it does happen sometimes,” Honig said. “It’s not impossible for somebody to cooperate after trial. It would have to be an exceptional circumstance. You’d have to be looking at somebody who has uniquely valuable information that you could not get from any other source and that would really lead you to something significant.”

The trial featured evidence that powerful people — like U.S. presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump — flew on the private planes Epstein and Maxwell used to traffic underage girls. Maxwell is alleged to have also plied her friend, Prince Andrew, with an Epstein victim, Virginia Giuffre. The British royal has denied wrongdoing and is locked in a civil lawsuit with Giuffre.

Other experts said that while Maxwell might once have had a shot at dodging a lengthy sentence, she squandered it by declining to come clean early about Epstein and his enablers.

“I would bet against her cooperating,” said veteran defense lawyer Paul Shechtman. “She has apparently shown no inclination to cooperate up to now, when she certainly had the opportunity.”

“A person who sits through a trial and protests her innocence does not make the most persuasive cooperator. And she is alleged to have been the number two person in the enterprise — meaning that she would be testifying about people less culpable,” added Shechtman.

“But this is the Jeffrey Epstein case, so anything could happen.”

During the trial I was thinking about the coincidence that Jane lived in Palm Beach. I don't know how these things work, but I couldn't help thinking that as JE was a benefactor to Interlochen is it possible JE and GM had access to admission applications, to assess students for scholarships, and see their backgrounds?

I can't help but feel they may have put a lot more effort into this has come to light.

Could be that Judge Nathan has not set a sentencing date, in order to wait and see whether Maxwell will unzip her lips and cooperate with information, as well as to allow victims to come forward for impact statements.

Personally I don't think she will talk, way too arrogant.
Yet again, the same arrogance, and maliciousness may result in wanting to take others down with her. After all, she was the one who facilitated these big shots' "adventures". She sits in prison, and they continue to live freely in palaces and estates.

Hard to predict.

Ghislaine Maxwell learned husband 'moved on' with a yoga instructor in call behind bars, says friend | Daily Mail Online

'At first Scott stood by her and wrote letters to the court and offered joint assets to try and get Ghislaine our on bail.
'But she has been behind bars for 549 days now. It put a terrible strain on the marriage.'

'She has been disappointed by several former close friends who have abandoned her. An ex-boyfriend was asked to come forward and talk about the woman he loved, to defend her character in court, and he said 'no way!'

ORDER as to Ghislaine Maxwell:
The parties are ORDERED to submit a joint letter by January 10, 2022, proposing a briefing schedule for the Defendant's Rule 29 motion and proposing a schedule for sentencing.
The joint letter should also propose a schedule for the severed perjury counts. The Defense also inquired about a booster shot for the Defendant.
The Court has been advised that MDC is making booster shots available within a week of receiving a request from an inmate. Defense counsel is accordingly advised to follow the MDC's instructions for requesting a booster. If a request is made and a booster not provided, Defense counsel may make a further application to the Court. SO ORDERED. (Signed by Judge Alison J. Nathan on 1/3/2022)(bw) (Entered: 01/03/2022)

This jumps out at me:
Rina Oh, 42, has been accused by Epstein's 'sex slave' Virginia Giuffre of being part of the financier's inner circle and recruiting underage girls for him.

This seems to be in a different dimension of the conspiracy than the stuff GM just got convicted for....

We now have a question about who is a victim and who is a co-conspirator. (NB I'm not at all discounting victimhood: I'm just saying it seems to be VERY complicated in this case.)

Maybe Oh is afraid she's liable as a recruiter? She was 21 at the time she got in with GM and JE. I guess that would mean she would have a harder time qualifying as a victim? Unless maybe she was trafficked? If you're 21, you can't just say you were naive and got in with the wrong crowd...

Her goal in speaking about herself as a victim suggests the possibility she's actually trying to head off charges; she's also suing Guiffre for defamation for saying she was part of the inner circle...

I have a feeling a lot more of this kind of thing is going to jump out of the woodwork. IMO it's hard for people to wrap their heads around the roles women are playing in the GM/JE crimes—whether as victims or perps, and it's sometimes hard to tell which.

But now that GM is verifiably guilty, we've got past "a woman would never do that to another woman" sort of thing. All kinds of women in the JE/GM orbit will be in the crosshairs of our thinking as perpetrators.
Women in this conspiracy may also become scapegoats: they may very well distract from the much less murky criminal role of men.

What is a Rule 29 motion?
It is a Motion for Judgment of Acquittal. Basically a motion asking the court to throw out the case because there was insufficient evidence produced by the prosecution to sustain conviction.

Ghislaine Maxwell won't flip on others who enabled Jeffrey Epstein's abuse in a bid to secure a shorter prison term, her brother says

Ghislaine Maxwell will not reveal information about others involved with helping disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein run his decades-long sex-trafficking network, her brother told The Sunday Times.

Her brother, Ian Maxwell, told The Sunday Times that Ghislaine Maxwell maintains her innocence and has no plans to pursue a plea deal with prosecutors.

"Prosecution confirmed no plea bargain offers were made or received" before the trial, Ian Maxwell told the newspaper. "I expect that position to be maintained."

Ian Maxwell told The Sunday Times that his sister is "understandably subdued," but "strong in spirit" about her imprisonment, and will be appealing her conviction.

Legal experts previously told Insider that Maxwell's only options after her conviction are to fight her case on appeal, or start cooperating with investigators to receive a lighter sentence. The names of several high-profile people, including Prince Andrew, appeared in evidence during Maxwell's trial.

“Recruiters were bringing in dozens of people; I didn’t do that,” Oh added, saying she only brought three women to Epstein’s Upper East Side home.

In the latest episode of the Broken: Seeking Justice podcast, Oh admits to delivering three young women to Epstein’s New York mansion.
She also confirmed she took a 17-year-old Giuffre shopping for a schoolgirl outfit on Epstein’s orders…

Oh said she was axed from Epstein’s orbit after she refused to go to dinner with Maxwell, who allegedly wanted to introduce her to “three very rich guys.”

“I was asked to go out to dinner with Ghislaine and I refused to go,” Oh said. “They cut me off when I said no.”

This can of worms will keep a whole generation of lawyers employed for years to come. It will indeed be interesting to see if or how the court deals with the johns that inevitably fall out onto the heap.
