Isn't it strange that a Judge was changed before deciding the sentence?

I have never heard about such situation before.

OK, she was given another post, but surely should finish all her other duties pending.

After all this Judge managed the trial, and it is her duty to decide a sentence, not somebody else who came "out of the blue".
Does it happen often?
MOO
But the first judge seems to have been leaving a very clearly delineated record. The new judge would be handling all the sentencing memoranda etc., but AFAIK the grunt work for that is handled by the probation department? Didn't the first judge offer an introduction to GM when she was first convicted? She had them standing by....IIRC GM's attorneys rushed to say an introduction was premature. LOL.
And the judges have a sentencing grid, correct? Not a lot of leeway one way or another.
This must happen all the time for various reasons, including pregnancy leaves, family leave, prolonged medical care...

Whoops!

That case reassignment to a new judge in the Ghislaine Maxwell case? That's an admin error, the court says.

***DELETED DOCUMENT. [...] no document number. NOTICE OF CASE REASSIGNMENT, as to Ghislaine Maxwell. The document was incorrectly filed in this case. (bw)

Judge Nathan's still on the case.

REMARK as to USA v. Ghislaine Maxwell. Case reassigned to Judge Broderick due to an administrative error. Case returned to Judge Nathan. (bw)

Ghislaine Maxwell siblings ‘profoundly shocked’ by judge’s rejection of retrial

The siblings of Ghislaine Maxwell said on Tuesday they were “profoundly shocked and troubled” that a judge rejected a new trial for the British former socialite convicted on sex-trafficking charges, despite revelations that a juror who helped to convict her failed to disclose he was sexually abused as a child.

In a statement, the “Maxwell Family” said it was focused on an appeal against US district judge Alison Nathan’s ruling last Friday.

One day they might just have to wake up and open their eyes.

Ghislaine's sister Christine looks very like her, or at least how she will look in a few years' time.

Vassi also told the programme that she had heard rumours of how late media tycoon Robert Maxwell used the disgraced paedophile to hide stolen millions and that Epstein met Ghislaine through her father and before his death.

She told the programme: 'I was in the City and I had some friends who worked on Wall Street during that time and they heard that Jeffrey Epstein and Robert Maxwell had entered into an agreement before Robert Maxwell's death, whereby certain funds had been siphoned off.

'That is what Jeffrey Epstein was doing at the time, he was helping very rich people park their money offshore, to avoid tax.'

Colin Barr, the executive producer of the series, said: 'I think we now know for a fact that Robert Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein knew one another before Maxwell died, I think there is no question about that.'

Docs from Giuffre-Maxwell lawsuit mentioning hedge fund manager Glenn Dubin and his wife (and former Epstein girlfriend) Eva and/or their former house manager Rinaldo Rizzo will be unsealed, documents related to other "Does" who objected to unsealing will stay under wraps

Dubins didn't object to unsealing, Rizzo did. Other "Does" who remain under wraps include two minors not connected to alleged abuse; case of mistaken identity; former Epstein financial employee; someone who flew on private jet w/Epstein & Maxwell who Giuffre didn't recall

There is a second set of "Does" that the court will go through down the road, this was a narrow slice of Does who had some objections to unsealing
