But the first judge seems to have been leaving a very clearly delineated record. The new judge would be handling all the sentencing memoranda etc., but AFAIK the grunt work for that is handled by the probation department? Didn't the first judge offer an introduction to GM when she was first convicted? She had them standing by....IIRC GM's attorneys rushed to say an introduction was premature. LOL.Isn't it strange that a Judge was changed before deciding the sentence?
I have never heard about such situation before.
OK, she was given another post, but surely should finish all her other duties pending.
After all this Judge managed the trial, and it is her duty to decide a sentence, not somebody else who came "out of the blue".

And the judges have a sentencing grid, correct? Not a lot of leeway one way or another.
This must happen all the time for various reasons, including pregnancy leaves, family leave, prolonged medical care...
