Anyone know why she had a troubled childhood and how she was abused by her father?

According to article.

She had also written in a memo prior to the sentencing that a troubled childhood made her vulnerable to commit such heinous acts after her father mysteriously died in 1991.

During sentencing Maxwell’s lawyer Bobbi Sternheim said: ‘We request that Ms. Maxwell be designated, based on a recommendation by the Court, to the BOP facility, the women's facility in Danbury, and also a recommendation that she be enrolled in the FIT program, which is the Female Integrated Treatment program, to address past familial and other trauma’.

Judge Nathan said: ‘I recommend to the Bureau of Prisons consideration of placement in Danbury and consideration of eligibility for enrollment in the FIT program’.

The FIT program would have allowed Maxwell to be part of a ‘therapeutic community’ that will help her understand how her own abusive father shaped her life.

Workshops would have included 'Trauma in Life’ and ‘Seeking Safety’ so she could process the impact of being abused by her father, the late British press baron Robert Maxwell.

I'm all for people getting the help they need but Ghislaine Maxwell is a freaking twit of a human who IMHO doesn't deserve the luxury of therapy. She has time to figure it out on her own.

The victims are the ones who deserve therapy. What recourse do they have? Contact Virginia Giuffre for support via Prince Andrews settlement?

While I can see how a creep like Epstein could have groomed Maxwell, she is a complicit and willing accomplice.

If anything, she should have to pay into some kind of similar fund as Prince Andrew and Epstein did. JMO.

Maxwell’s attorneys had requested that she be placed in the low-security federal prison in Danbury, Connecticut, to serve her 20-year sentence, citing the prison’s Female Integrated Treatment, or FIT, Program, a program for victims of substance abuse and trauma and women with mental health problems. Ahead of her sentencing last month, Maxwell had disclosed that she had suffered physical and emotional abuse during her childhood, including at the hands of her father, the deceased media tycoon Robert Maxwell.

The Tallahassee prison doesn’t offer the FIT Program, but does offer a program for survivors of abuse struggling with low self-esteem and a cognitive behavioral therapy program to treat the “trauma-related mental health needs of inmates.”
The Bureau of Prisons declined to discuss the specific reasons for why Maxwell was placed in Tallahassee rather than Danbury, but told the Herald that it, “routinely receives judicial recommendations and weighs a number of factors regarding designation to a facility.”
The Bureau added that some of those factors include, “the level of security and supervision the inmate requires, any medical or programming needs, separation and security measures to ensure the inmates protection, and other considerations including proximity to an individual’s release residence.

It seems that as prisons go, she was placed in "the best option" available for her.

Maxwell, who used to manage Epstein's properties and arranged massages with underage girls for him, could put to use her organizing skills by doing payroll for the whole complex, Coulman said.

15 cents?! Now that's a headline!!

She probably knows a thing or two about tax evasion and legal loopholes. It would be fitting if they allowed someone like her to do payroll. Make a complete joke out of the whole thing.

According to a documentary Maxwells father wasn't fully present in her life. I don't recall anything overtly abusive about it, just absent and emotionally neglectful. Both Epstein and Maxwells parents died the same year. Not sure the circumstance but maybe they bonded?

At one time, Epstein was with Sheryl Crow. She probably knows a few things too.

Ta da!
I’ll bet these attorneys haven’t clicked that GM and her family are sharks? They help themselves to whatever they want? Let’s see…Dad, brothers, daughter, husband, hangers on…

Now that they’ve been preyed in, too, I wish these attorneys would get a glimpse of how GM preys on people and bring themselves to have even a teensy weensy bit of fellow-feeling for her real victims.

But, then, maybe it takes a shark to know one.

Omg
What a circus it all is.

"Pay in advance" should be lawyers' motto.

After all, they deal with criminals.

Oh well...
Too bad.

Bit stormy in Florida now then? Idly wondering how prisons cope with this kind of thing. Locked down? Locked in? Just wondered, like..
