I'm lacking CARIIS's humor, and certainly September Sapphire's knowledge (never wake a sleeping giraffe!), but our giant mama is positively glowing today. The way the light is shining in through her windows is beautiful. She seems solemn this morning. Not moving around a whole lot. Of course, I'm probably looking for something, anything different. C'mon happy and healthy Baby G, so you and your mama can go play outside!

Doh. SMH. They don't have any more April plushies in the gift store because I am sending one to everyone in the thread.

CARIIS, you get 2 because I want to hear that the steam coming out of your ears set off your smoke detector. I also got you a toys r us keychain. J/k [emoji3]

I don't know? I still wish we had a Verified Giraffe Birthing Professional in here. Perhaps CARIIS could fill in? Tee hee :p

Least qualified one here! I do too wish we had vet here.

Did they:

a- know darn well how to get this rolling and bring out all the internet stuff with a false due date to get everything up and running etc?

b- truly just miss an evening or afternoon of romance and passion?

c- since they are not doing anything (the vet reminds me an airpline pilot doing a walk around his plane) Nothing. This makes me concerned tho cause if something is wrong I do not want to see it - so very confused if I have it on and labor starts I am not sure if I want to see.

Since this started I have seen a couple of giraffe births and it is neat BUT I already knew everything went as planned

Conundrum

And I do not understand, with all the snow, why cant they keep both stalls open so they can hang together in boredom if they want?

Has anyone ever seen aggressive interactions?

Is that what they say might happen?

I do not know if giraffes really dig human company (!) but maybe some staff could just go in and solely hang with each of em.

walking around in circles can't be mentally stimulating - I would also assume exercise is good for mama in terms labor - she ain't no spring ------------------- um giraffe.

IMO the news "releases" have much more of a "feel" of a marketing entity far more involved now than before .

The smoke detectors in here are as a pooped as April and the Orville dam!!!

Yes, this started appearing a little while back. I think it is because people were scamming and putting video up claiming to be the official site and even live streaming Animal Adventures live stream.

Exciting update... but please don't let it happen while I sleep lol. I have about 4-5 more hours. :D

Such a struggle for April to lay down a few minutes ago. Rest up lovely Mama. You have hard work ahead of you.

While we continue to wait, I did a bit of sleuthing today. Below are two articles about April and her prior mate, Stretch, and their baby Autumn. Seems she had two males before having Autumn.

Good for her !! Flirting is fun!!

She was up, then back down. Common in active labor. sometimes when down they'll stretch a back leg out and push against the ground trying to get baby further in the birth canal.

She's stomping her hooves like I am. After two months, my patience is very thin.

I keep looking at videos and photos of pregnant giraffes. None seem as huge as April is. Wondering seriously if she is going to have twins...

 Let's have a BIRTHDAY PARTY TODAY!!!

Maybe while the zookeepers were celebrating Christmas, April and Oliver decided to celebrate as well.
