Gontran Jacques, of Bay Shore, called his family on Monday, Oct. 28 at approximately noon to inform them that his plane landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens.

Jacques said he would be taking an Uber home to his residence, located on 2nd Ave. in Bay Shore. Jacques did not return home and his family reported him missing on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Jacques is Haitian, 6-foot-3, approximately 300 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Wondering how he called his family without a cell phone?

Also, how do you get an Uber without a cell phone?

How did he call he parents when he landed if he did not have a cell phone? It's been years since I've noticed a public telephone at an airport.

FaceTime from iPad? Text from iPad?
Text from the plane? American usually has decent WiFi if you want to pay for it.

There are so many things wrong with this case, or the things that were to happen.
I wonder if maybe he would call a friend to send an Uber to him, but then he would have to call the friend to find out the details. Or maybe he set it up before he left.
How did he call home? by public phone? maybe he had a tablet and he was using the wifi in the airport.
I wonder if something happened in Miami? Maybe someone was waiting for him?
Just speculations on my part

So he didn't get a new phone when the old one broke? Not even a burner?

The Uber reference could just mean a taxi or any number of NY rideshares - it's becoming the Kleenex of the millennial generation.

I wonder if they are talking about the same person.

There are always taxi's and ubers lined up at the arrival terminals. No need to call for them.

You have to use the app to 'call' for an Uber or Lyft as payment is electronic through the app. You can't just jump in an Uber or Lyft.

Yes you can, the drivers can take fares for cash especially at airports in New York. I live in NYC. Glad he was located.
