NY - Gov Spitzer tells staff he's linked to prostitution ring

  • #421
I was watching Gov.McGreevey's wife on a talk show this morning and she was asked why she stood next to him when he gave his ''speech''..She said she did it for her daughter so later in life her daughter will not ask her ''mom why weren't you there for dad when he was going through that hard time in his life?''.. Sooo I don't know maybe that is why they stand by their man? :waitasec:

I saw this as well and thought what a crazy reason. In other words she is saying to her daughter: I stood beside him because although he humiliated me, betrayed me and broke my heart, his need for support was more important than my own. The message to daughter? Stand by your man no matter what; men are more important than women. :bang:

Yeah I really don't even know what to think about the whole stand next to the man thing. I don't see her in any kind of negative way for standing up there by him but I really don't understand the need to stand up there by him either.. :waitasec: Boy, I know if it were me yeah I would stand up there and the whole time be giving him the death glare! As for my kids I really don't think any of this would be their business to begin with so I don't see why I would need to do it for them? This is adult business. Spitzer has teenagers so I am sure they will 'hear' stuff.. I feel so bad for them and I guess I would have to explain everything to them and that would suck.

...I'll tell you something. I did lose some respect for Hillary Clinton as a person for staying with Bill after he had betrayed her and humiliated her so publicly like he did. Am I the only one who feels that way?

I don't think you are the only one who feels that way. I have heard that sentiment from a lot of folks. I had the opposite reaction - I respected Hillary even more for the way she handled it and for standing by her husband.

We don't know her heart but standing by her husband for a press release was a public act of solidarity.
This man prosecuted people involved in prostitution rings so even if the "open marriage" theory was true, prostitution is illegal. He's the governor of the state for crying out loud he's supposed to uphold the law. The "hard time" he is going through is of his own making. He chose it and brought shame on his family.
And they have daughters. No way would I be "standing by my man" and giving that example to my daughters that this is the kind of crap you have to put up with in marriage.

I appreciated her public act of solidarity and didn't find that it made her look foolish. Her husband's hypocrisy is hard to stomach. But you can still support flawed people who you respect - even when their flaws are showing for all the world to see. There's nothing wrong with that, IMHO, and it's not a bad message to teach young women. Of course, we have no idea what she is saying to her daughters about all this.

This is the very reason I would not be standing by his side. There is no way I would suggest to my daughters that being humiliated, cheated on, dis-respected and lied to by a father and/or husband is anything a self respecting person would put up with.

That's not the way I perceive her actions, but I understand how others might. For all we know she wants to teach her daughters that marriage is a commitment worth sticking too - even in the worst of times.

One of my closest friends (a woman with a great deal of self-respect and dignity)stuck by her philandering husband, the father of her two teenaged daughters. Both she and her husband wanted to stay and work through the infidelity - and they are doing that. Maybe Silda and Elliott want to do that as well.

Sometimes blindly "standing by your man" is sick, unhealthy behavior; sometimes "standing by your man" is strong, empowering behavior. Silda seems like a strong, empowered woman to me. Without knowing more, I fall on the side of respecting the choices she is making during this confusing and painful period of her life.

Sally - I agree with you and I agree that it is a bad example to set for the daughters. To me, ES exploited a woman who felt that her only avenue to success was from using her body. It is especially sad since he prosecutes people who exploit woman in this fashion.

Or, she could be saying to her daughter: we are all flawed creatures who miss the mark constantly. I chose to stand by your father and his flaws because I chose him for better or for worse. The message to the daughter: people are flawed and will let you down, but you can love and support them even when we are angry at them.

OMG! I JUST DID THE GOVERNOR!

March 14, 2008 -- The high-priced hooker at the center of Gov. Spitzer's sex scandal trysted with him several times before he was caught on a wiretap - but it was only during their last encounter that she realized the real identity of her john, sources said yesterday.
"Oh, my God! Do you know who this guy is?" a shocked Ashley Alexandra Dupre asked her bosses at the Emperors Club VIP escort service, a source said. The comment came after her $4,300 meeting with Spitzer at a Washington hotel on Feb. 13...

...

Sources say Dupre got involved with the Emperors Club as early as 2006 after responding to an ad from the agency seeking girls to "party" with deep-pocketed men.
After meeting with her, the escort service's operators liked what they saw. She took to the job quickly. "Like all of them, she wanted to hang out with guys with money," a source said.

Did anyone see Larry King where a guy who ran a prostitution ring was sent to jail for 5 years employeed "Kristin"? He was funny as he reveled in the irony that Spitzer brought him down and now one of his girls brought Spitzer down :)

That is, of course, the best part of this whole story - for me, Spitzer's hypocrisy is an even more fatal flaw than his adultery/love of call girls.

If she poses nude in Penthouse or Hustler, I think that she is going to have a problem getting a "real" job if she ever wants one. Is this thinking out of date?? :waitasec:

It probably is out of date. I don't think posing nude in one of those magazines would put a halt to most employment opportunities - some, perhaps, but not most.

Well this story will eventually die down and go away unfortunately I think she will milk it for what it's worth and keep her name in the limelight which will make people remember her. As far as a job in her future I think she will get all kinds of jobs..none that will make her mama proud. JMO

I didn't see Jason Itzler, although I am very familar with him and his obsession to be famous. I wouldn't buy half of what comes out of his mouth - the man only cares about people knowing his name. He did an interview earlier where he didn't know much about this girl and then all of a sudden her remembers her perfectly. By the way, his highest priced escort (Itzler's) was his fiance at the time. He is a 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬.

Penthouse and Hustler are the most extreme of 🤬🤬🤬🤬, aren't they? I still have to believe that mainstream America would not consider posing in either. :o

Also, if she was making $2,000 an hour with a minimum of 3-4 hours, why did she leave his company and start working for a company where her "salary" was reduced by 50 percent to $1,000 per hour with no minimum. :waitasec: Perhaps, they had a better healthcare package... :o

Dina McGreevey is another one who should just go away quietly and stop trying to milk her time in the spotlight. I know for a FACT that she knew about her husband the entire time. The bickering back and forth between her and Jim regarding custody is unreal - the two of them should be ashamed of themselves.

This is interesting. Isn't her husband claiming that she knew but she is saying that she didn't. If she knew, why on earth would she marry him, much less bring a child into this world??

Yes I noticed that too.. She has been all over the talk show circuit since the Spitzer thing broke.

You know for a fact she knew?

I do know it was considered common knowledge he was gay. But for a wife to know and then marry knowing he will be participating in such behavior I don't buy. When she said she beleived he was bi-sexual that was taken as offensive to him which I don't get. If he is with men and fathers a child in a marriage with her, why not bi?
