NY - Gov Spitzer tells staff he's linked to prostitution ring

You know for a fact she knew?

I do know it was considered common knowledge he was gay. But for a wife to know and then marry knowing he will be participating in such behavior I don't buy. When she said she beleived he was bi-sexual that was taken as offensive to him which I don't get. If he is with men and fathers a child in a marriage with her, why not bi?

Wow. I didn't know that she believed that he was "bisexual." Geez. Then, I blame her for the marriage and for having a child. She was rationalizing it out that he was bisexual. I was once told by a gay guy (who was once married) that guys who say that they are bisexual are just denying the truth, that there really is no such thing.

What gets me is now she is saying (with a fair amount of disgust) that he used her and married her only for political gain. Well, she readily agreed to be used if she knew that he was at the very least, "bisexual." Just my opinion, folks. :)

No, she said it after the fact...

Knowing he was with her in the marriage and learning he was with men.

Penthouse and Hustler are the most extreme of 🤬🤬🤬🤬, aren't they? I still have to believe that mainstream America would not consider posing in either. :o

Penthouse and Hustler are more extreme than Playboy, but I would not call them the most extreme type of magazine 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬. I agree that most of mainstream America would not pose in either, but that might be because most of mainstream America does not attractive enough bodies to be asked to pose in either!

I don't know if she knew before they married or found out after, but she absolutely knew about it while they were married and looked the other way. I suspect they had a private agreement.

If all the people out there who say they would not stand by a cheating spouse actually left their cheating spouse, I am afraid the divorce rate would be much higher than it is now. Ladies & Gents -someone is sticking by the cheaters, & it isn't just the political wives.

I agree with you that infidelity is a very common occurence in many marriages. I respect women who leave afterwards and I respect women who stay.

I have to disagree with you as to the reason "most" would not pose. On a personal note, I had a very nice body and a very nice face when I was younger; however, I would never dream of posing nude or prostituting myself for money...even when I was desperately poor. It was how I was raised.

Monica Lewinsky seems to have moved on with no problem in finding a career. Last I heard she was working in London. She never posed nude (that I know of), but I can't imagine what it would be like to know every person you come in contact with is thinking about you "not having sexual relations" with the commander-in-chief. There's also Vanessa Williams. Her pictures were in Hustler I think, somehow I got to see them and they were not flattering IIRC.

Maybe I am being bias here but for some reason Monica Lewinsky seems 'better' than Ashley to me. Monica wasn't a prostitute.

I think that woman have to stop judging each other period!
We cause alot of our own problems by being so judgmental of each others choices. JMO!

I kinda lost respect for this woman. Standing by her husband on TV is silly and it si more embarassing and humiliating for her. We all know how ashamed she should feel. If I were her I would be hiding out, and then filing for divorce. Her husband is scum. And to think he wanted unprotected sex with a prostitute. Apparantly he has never heard of AIDS.

Why in the world should she feel ashamed? She didn't do anything to cause all this hullabaloo.

I saw this as well and thought what a crazy reason. In other words she is saying to her daughter: I stood beside him because although he humiliated me, betrayed me and broke my heart, his need for support was more important than my own. The message to daughter? Stand by your man no matter what; men are more important than women. :bang:

Agreed. How awful the Governor's wife must have felt. Did the Governor support his family, but publicly humilating the entire family?

Its sad when our society expects us as woman to stand by our man, even though that man is a cheater and breaks his wedding vows!!

It's sad when people go on the air like Dr. Laura and imply men cheat because women aren't talking them up, and meeting all their needs! My husband watched her last night with me and he's been walking around (jokingly) saying "We men have our needs, you know!" I keep trying to tell him he's overdue on his payment, but he's not going for it! :D

Sally - I agree with you and I agree that it is a bad example to set for the daughters. To me, ES exploited a woman who felt that her only avenue to success was from using her body. It is especially sad since he prosecutes people who exploit woman in this fashion.

Well said, the double standard is deplorable. Time and again, the age old saying, "sleeping your way to the top", plays well in this scenario. I would think women have grown beyond this sterotype.

Ditto, I was just about to type the same thing.

Ashamed isn't the right word; I think that she probably is extremely embarrassed. It's only natural. I also think that she has to be DEEPLY hurt, like a knife in her heart. :(

Dr. Phil's wife, Robin, said that there would be no way in he## that she would stand next to, behind or near her husband had he done what Spitzer did. I'm with Robin. I wouldn't be there.

I think the problem I have with all this is how harshly Silda is being judged.
She did nothing wrong. She is the victim, as are her daughters. She probably hasn't even had a chance to digest what has happened to her.
