NY - Gov Spitzer tells staff he's linked to prostitution ring

  • #601
It appears that Ashley thinks so little of herself and her body that she actually stripped for free for a crowd in association with the Girls Gone Wild organization. Nice girl...If only Spitzer had known that he may have been able to get it for free had he just plied this girl with a few drinks...

Good point. Spitzer probably thought that since the charges were so high that he was getting something special.

Do we get to know who the other women were? I'm thinking they should share in Ashley's new found money. Maybe there should be an entire Hustler spread entitled, "Elliot's Girls." Or, better yet, how about a Girls and Guys issue where the clients are photographed, too.

....it is not mainstream in our society to get paid for sex.....

I think a great many folks in mainstream society would say that - in some form or fashion - men always pay for sex!;)

My husband would probably agree with you. :o

LOL!

I am actually a person who thinks prostitution should be legal in more places than Nevada, but I surely respect and understand the opposite position.

Ten reasons why I believe Silda Spitzer should divorce her husband:

10. Silda Spitzer is a classy, educated woman who does not need this behavior in her life.

9. Spitzer may have used government money to cover his tracks or transferred money illegally. He could very well go to jail.

8. While A-G and Governor, Spitzer engaged in an illegal activity (prostitution).

7. Spitzer did not engage in a one-time indiscretion with another woman. He sought out many women over several years.

8. Spitzer is (IMO) a deceptive person. Troopers met with Spitzer on a Friday. The next day, Saturday, it was published that despite knowing the charges, he deceived everyone with his "normal" behavior.

5. E Spitzer met with women's groups and signed legislation that would up the punishment for "johns" from three months to a year, all while using a prostitute.

4. For the last 10 years Silda Spitzer has put her career on hold to support her husband's political aspirations. He apparently had no concern for this support. The fairy tale is over. His political career is finished

3. E Spitzer's apparent wish to not use a condom put Silda Spitzer at risk for STD. If this is true, it appears he had little concern for her.

2. Silda Spitzer was embarrassed before her friends and the entire nation.

1. The three daughters were embarrassed in front of their friends, their classmates, and the nation. Recovery will not be automatic.

Ten reasons Silda Spitzer might not divorce her husband:

10. She loves him and believes he is willing to work through these issues with her.

9. She believes that his worst qualities are not the summation of who he is.

8. She understands that his bad choices do not sully her name in the slightest.

7. When she said "for better or for worse" she meant just that.

6. In her view, the good of their marriage outweighs the bad.

5. She's been having her own "unpublic" affairs.

4. She and her husband had an "understanding".

3. Her political life with him means enough to her that she does not wish to divide it.

2. After the shock and trauma quiet to a dull roar, she finds in herself a forgiving heart and the belief that she can learn to trust him again.

1. She doesn't give a damn what others think of the most personal relationship of her life and she'll fight for that relationship without apology or embarrassment.

Considering Silda Spitzer's public reaction, I don't think she have been having "unpublic" affairs. I also doubt she and her husband had an "understanding."

I doubt it too - but I don't know. None of us do. I was just listing ten reasons that she might choose not to divorce him.

It's just not so cut and dried for me, Trino. Some folks consider a sexual relationship (or relationships) outside a marriage the absolute end of the marriage for them. I respect that. Some people don't. I respect that too.

Without knowing Silda's inner workings or the private history of the marriage, I can't form any sort of opinion about what she should do.

One of my BFF's is still married to a man who had multiple (like more than a 20, over a period of 10 years) sexual relationships outside of their marriage. They are doing well today.

Or, at least, the marriage is still going. Whether they are doing well may be up for grabs. It sure makes you wonder exactly what defines a marriage, doesn't it? I would never have thought that "For better or worse" could mean infidelity, but that's just me.

To me, love needs to be a two-way street. I don't doubt that Silda Spitzer loves her husband, but it's difficult to understand where his love for her was when he was soliciting.

As for the family atmosphere, I just don't see Elliot Spitzer as a role model for his three daughters. He is a man who could end up in jail.

Silda Spitzer might be concerned about the financial aspects of divorce. With her legal background, she would, undoubtedly, petition for a good settlement. I cannot image a judge who would not be sympathetic to her requests (unless he/she has ties to the Spitzer family).

Elliot Spitzer, like every other father in this world, is a role model to his children. And, like every other father in this world, he has and will model both good and bad behavior. Fortunately, even bad behavior can teach good lessons.

Most children will not have their family struggles and dramas played out so publicly - I'm sure that fishbowl aspect ramps up the tensions. I hope some other BIG STORY will catch our attention soon, so this family can get to grieving and healing in peace.

My thoughts, exactly. Unless they had counseling and he had individual counseling to understand why he had the affairs, I would think that marriage was rocky, at best. I guess that they could have adopted the "Don't ask; don't tell" policy... :waitasec:

I read a New York Times article about the Mayflower Hotel, where the tryst took place, between Elliot and Ashley/Kirsten. The article stated that she checked in with FOUR pieces of luggage. For one night? Hmmmm. Have also heard that that was the reason for her taking the train, as opposed to plane....suitcases with heavy, uh, "stuff". Sounds interesting, and yes, Elliot may need therapy...

They had several years of counseling. The Husband regularly attends SA and the Wife regularly attends S-Anon. All this happened 6+ years ago. Husband and Wife are both very close friends of me and my Husband.

I feel like they are doing well and both are glad that they stayed in the marriage.

I think this is the right step, but in Pine Plains, NY? Often, the first thing the rich and famous do when caught in a web is head for counseling or rehab. Let's hope for the best for him. I do feel, however, that Spitzer's political career is over. He's nearly 50, and the political fallout will last many years.

Spitzer may well have a sexual addiction. His behavior sounds very similar to the behavior of the friend I have been discussing. Much like drug addiction, people will put anything on the line when they are driven by obsession and compulsion.

Okay, my imagination is not that vivid. What's the rumored "heavy stuff??" :waitasec:

I don't believe in sexual addiction. I think that it is another name for lack of impulse control...

My ex said that he has heard that she was carrying lots of bondage stuff, which would have set off metal detectors at airport. If this is true, it could lead to more embarrassing revelations for Spitzer.
I, quite frankly did not believe this, until I read about the four suitcases. I will find and post that link.
