The name change and insinuation that James was the "son" of a very prominent, respected businessman also would serve to allow James to avoid a pesky background check when obtaining employment with Willis (a position that Jeffrey recommended him for).

The fact that James was arrested for driving without a license is significant as it is likely that James was never able to circumvent the NY DMV to obtain an ID with the Rackover name.

It also might be easier to get an apartment in the building if he were a "son" of a current resident. The boards of many co-ops can be very nit-picky about who is allowed in and they can scrutinize backgrounds and financial standing. But, a "son" of a resident in good standing might get the green-light more easily.

What a mess.

Second Degree Murder and other charges: James Rackover of Manhattan and Lawrence Dilione of NJ

Looks like Lawrence Dillione is from Oceanport, NJ and that he is the one who told LE the location of JC's body:

A person who attended the party, Oceanport resident Lawrence Dilione, reportedly told police where Comunale was buried, in the wooded area behind a florist.

IF this is accurate ^^, why would Dilione also be charged with hindering prosecution?

Both are charged with murder, concealing corpse and tampering with physical evidence, but LD has additional charge:

There's probably stuff we don't know (yet). Maybe he lied or misled at first and then changed his mind.

I feel sorry for the florist. I'm guessing they picked the spot because it was wooded, not because it was behind the florist, yet the florist keeps getting mentioned. (Well, I'm assuming the florist has nothing to do with this!)

Well that answers the question about the location picked to dump the body -- according to his LinkedIn profile, Lawrence Dilione is the owner of Shore Point Roofing in Oceanport, New Jersey.

Ahh, I was wondering how these two made their way to Oceanport. In another article it said that Dilione was from Jersey City.

Investigators say someone inside the apartment lead them to the grisly scene.
While police have no arrests, the NYPD says they have James Rackover in custody for questioning. Rackover is the son of celebrity jeweler Jeffrey Rackover, whose famous clientele include Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Lopez and future First Lady Melania Trump. Both of them live in the apartment where Comunale was last seen.
The younger Rackover lawyered up and is not talking to police, according to Boyce. He is being held in the 13th Precinct in Gramercy.

Comunal, 26, of Stamford, Conn., was stabbed 15 times
his body was driven to New Jersey
found body behind a florist shop in shallow grave @ 1 foot deep
2 32 pieces of evidence from the apartment included blood on clothing with bleach on the clothing
Attempts made to burn the body, body also had broken pelvis (possibly from being thrown from 3rd floor apartment.

Two arrests in murder of Joseph Comunal:
James Rackover, 25, who lived in the pricey apartment where Joseph Comunal was killed, was charged with second-degree murder, concealment of a human corpse and tampering with evidence.

Cops also arrested a second suspect: Lawrence Dilione, 28, of Jersey City, N.J., who faced the same charges plus an additional charge of hindering prosecution, police said.

I thought it was not his son, he just changed his name and they lived in separate apartments but in the same building!!!

Not quite accurate, is it? It's now known he is not the son, they did not live in the same apartment but in the same building.

Those are older articles it seems. A lot news outlets don't seem to be on the same page with the new information.

Thanks for the news, Spellz, heart breaking to hear his father speak.

I imagine learning to cope with problems the way these killer/s have would not happen over night and may have involved deep seeded enabling going on too?

Reminded me of this, always stuck in my mind, for some reason, not at all linked.

''I don't think anything of it,'' said ..., a jewelry designer and tenant walking his Shih Tzu dog. ''This is a very quiet neighborhood, very romantic actually. It's like an oasis.''

But also, I think there was a murder/scandal with a model and some S&M thing there too, IIRC.

I'm not seeing an immediate connection with the links to old articles you posted. Can you give me a hint of what you're thinking?
