To johnjohn24 - Just joined this site today and saw this post. I was in court with them on the 6th. It was for requests by the defense to have certain items redacted from the police reports. The judge adjourned until the 10th so he could review what exactly they wanted removed since they had only filed a request and he hadn't seen the specifics.

All 3 cases (except for James's driving infractions) have been removed from the DA's website. They are to appear together in March to hear the judge's decisions on the motions submitted by the defense and prosecution attorneys.

I thought all court documents were still kept under lock and key... how is Pappa's motion being referenced then? This doesn't make any sense..

I did read that some info that was redacted was, originally, public. I am assuming
That's why it is being discussed.

Thanks for the info, and WELCOME to Websleuths.

Any speculation on why the shrink wrap with blood on it was formed into a rope or what it was used for?

What? Shrink wrap formed into a rope? I must have missed this.

Possibly to tie up whatever JC was wrapped up in to transport him. Or to bind/gag.

Sickening.

I thought that too about the shrink wrap but it was found in the garbage chute along with the victims clothes.

Yes, the defense asked that some items from the police report be redacted after the information had already been made public.

Oh ok that makes sense of course. But I interpreted the article as though they were referencing a motion Pappa had filed recently. Plus, anything originally made public would have been cited in MSM and the details he describes were definitely never mentioned before... he mentions things like multiple attorneys, Joseph Evans and Max Gemma's father representing LD for a brief time as well, etc... this is the first time I'm reading about such things? We've been dissecting and analyzing all news sources since the crime happened. There are a lot of things mentioned in that original daily news article that if they were originally public, regardless of whether they're redacted now or not, wouldn't we all have heard about them before?

Most importantly ... from the Daily News article on 2/10:

"The filings — partially unsealed on Friday after a effort to intervene was made by the Daily News — illustrate in detail the extent to which Dilione's rights were allegedly ignored in the rush to locate Comunale." http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/cops-bungled-probe-hofstra-grad-murder-article-1.2969606

.... I'm now inclined to believe the filings were never actually public but the daily news did whatever it could to get the story or "intervene" as they put it, since the filings only became partially unsealed after they got involved.

And ... that all three defense attorneys have disturbingly different versions of what happened during and after the crime. It's just all so messed up... all of them, and their defense attorneys. It's making me sick.

They may have used it to try to restrain him or for strangulation. When that didn't work, they discarded it.

Hi Qatsi, I won't pry into your connection with the case (as in, you being there in court) but I hope you'll continue to provide us with updates of facts along the way.

Yes, that's definitely a possibility. It was stated that JR choked him before stabbing him.
