This posted today in my hometown - another missing girl from a park, suburb outside of philly.....missing since yesterday, car left behind. 20 something brunette.

I know this has been discussed but it seems like the attacker managed to ambush her when she had some line of sight. She looks like she can run a 3 minute mile...she seems savvy, a drugged up guy would probably fail if they were just grappling. So I think there were 2 perps, a guy posing as a jogger or a very fit/young attacker. It's a bit odd. I don't think she knew the perp because people are smart. Say she runs into a fry cook from the restaurant out in the weeds. That's weird. She would not let her guard down even if socially obligated to make small talk at a distance?

No way is she a 3 minute miler! That's like Olympic speed mileage. KV might have been fit but she was no where close to Olympic athlete fit, no way, not even close.

My thought has been she was attacked on her return trip back over the route she took..... perp sees her as she makes her way out, then waits for her to return - appears she was attacked where there was a curve/bind-spot (see photo below) in the trail so he could better hide. If we knew the exact time of the attack, this might be proved; but LE has not given any info about this, only that she was attacked while texting, if I recall...

I agree that the attack happened on her return route, and that makes sense with the texting too. I would guess that a runner would be more likely to text as she ended her run rather than in the midst of it, ykwim?

I think the person was already in the park (as there is no video of anyone entering at the same place Karina did....in other words, no one followed her in), spotted her running, and attacked when they had the opportunity (texting).

Yes I didn't literally mean she could run a 3 minute, I just meant she could outrun a drug addled derelict.

I don't think she was followed in. There is video of Karina entering the park (from one of the houses, IIRC), but there is no one else on the video seen entering after her.

If you mean along 78th street, then yes those are all houses.

Interesting to note in the photo above that where she was attacked is where there are lots of trees and it's the only place like that on the route shown in the photo.

That is interesting. If you were hanging out in the park on an August day, you'd probably want to be in the shade. (I'm still hanging on to the theory the perp was hanging out in the park that day.)

And, if you're texting like Karina was, it's easier to see your phone in the shade than in the bright sunlight.

Female joggers should carry concealed weapons when they run. In the states that allow it. Otherwise carry pepper spray.
