MP is also a convicted felon (we knew this, I think) and he is obsessed with his 2 chihuahuas. 48 Hours said that he posts videos of his dogs on Youtube. He likes to dress them up and film them. PH was just shown.

OMG...PH claims he kept Shannan in his house overnight and called MP to pick her up in the morning. He later denied this. I don't recall seeing this before.

the show confirmed that CPH actually did make 2 calls to Shannan's family (although the doc cannot recall exactly because it was so long ago......) but he sts he called just to offer help.

What I can't understand is how the SCPD did not find her with the K9 units, aviation and marine patrol!! Why did they wait until Tuesday morning to start the search? Why wasn't it done last night?

I can't believe we pay these cops so much money yet they are so incompetent!

It's my understanding that the SCPD only has one working helicopter at any given time, with a second available only during daytime hours. The department owns 4 helicopters (all Eurocopters of I believe 2 different models; 3 of one model, and one of another model but I could be wrong on the exact numbers) but I believe 1 is used exclusively for spare parts. Perhaps their one working helicopter was being used for a medevac mission or some other law enforcement assistance?

The problem here is not the individual officers, but rather the way the system is set up. County police departments are great for saving money but at a much reduced level of services. They cover too big an area with too few officers (mainly because we can't afford to hire any new ones because they are paid so much). They botched this whole Gilgo Beach case from the beginning, and they can't even handle regular day to day policing - as you said they are incompetent.

I'm not sure that they are immediate relatives... Gus spells his surname "Coletti" - has one 'L' - and Victor's surname "Colletti" - has two. That's just from preliminary searches...

Good catch Bodhi, I know when I was researching Gus Coletti and the Clusters, I found both spellings of the name Coletti {Colletti} for Gus. I don't know why the spellings seem to be interchangeable.

Now I don't mean to stereotype, and I've known many doctors who were humble, decent people, but I've also known doctors who were full of themselves and acted like whatever they said was the gospel truth. One thing we do know about our SK is that he seems to be very full of himself. He likes to torment his victims' families and he seems like someone who may be keeping trophies (i.e. the victims' cellphones and possibly other items belonging to the victims). Your opinion above reminded me of those doctors I've encountered whose egos seem to be bigger than their brains. This behavior would fit in perfectly with a person who thinks he's got credibility simply because he has the title of "doctor". A sort of "they'll believe me because I'm a doctor;they're nobodies" type of attitude. Just my opinion only.

Sadly, iTA. I have known too many Dr.'s with huge egos that get infuriated or indignant when a patient doesn't buy everything they say. I know there are kind, good hearted docs, too. But too often that ego comes with the doctor title.

I know people who live in some of the communities on Fire Island and on Oak Island and they all say that Dr. H has always seemed "weird", "shady", and "sort of odd".

However none of those make one a serial killer. While I do think they guy is local I don't think it's anyone we are looking at. The SCPD loves to be able to shut the book ASAP (especially on high profile cases) so if there was any remotely solid evidence linking the killings to Dr H or JB they would be in jail right now awaiting the trial. Look at the Marty Tankleff case as an example.

I thought it was interesting, when cornered about the 3 men (CPH, MP, & JB), Dormer states they cooperated and are not suspects, yet, he quickly added (paraphrased), that doesn't mean they've closed the door on them either. ( link ) So, it doesn't sound to me like they've been definitively ruled out. As for the good doctor? Check out this letter to CBS ( pdf link ). Interestingly (or not) he divulges unnecessary details. Such as the trip he allegedly took shortly after Shannan went missing. Take what you will from that.

It's a shame about the gate recording that was taped over. It almost sounds like the police didn't inquire about it until it was too late. Makes me think of the girl that snuck out of a hotel in a suitcase. Lots of good leads lost on that.

Full blown sociopaths can't hide their true colors. I'm guessing what he means by allergic is "I have no empathy, hence I can't enjoy/understand a pet dog."

I'm starting to remember some of the odd things he has stated, and seeing them for what they are. Remember the clip with this statement? "I've done a lot for this county" ... what the hell did that have to do with anything? Oh right sociopaths try to make us feel like we owe them...


I've been thinking lately that the level of psychopathy/sadism is so high, he can't and doesn't even try to hide it. Remember the photo on his wall of a woman who looks to be gripped by fear? That always boggled me, if the news was at my door with cameras suspecting me of something, say stealing exotic cars, and I planned to open the door and talk to them and tell them I wasn't guilty, whether or not I was guilty I would have the conscience to take down a poster of an exotic car behind my head. Only a conscience lacking sociopath wouldn't think to take that pic down. The writing is on the wall so to speak...He probably openly tells people his favorite movie is Hitchcock's "Frenzy" when explaining to his kids why he hung up a pic of a horrified young lady.

On driving cross country ....
Not only would I not put it past him to be lying about driving his daughter cross country, I could easily believe he offered to to make the drive and brought an extra suitcase of his own. It would give him the thrill he needs and make him feel he outsmarted everyone too.

In the letter, he claims he did not know JB before the incident. I'd be interested to know if any of his call records can contradict that information also...I would also be interested to know why he told reporters early this year that he never called Shannan's family...

After watching the 48 Hours video, I am still confused.

As far as Shannan is concerned: The "they" she speaks of on the 911 call, is that b/c she was not paid? That could cause someone to harm her.

Also, if the jacket and earring were right outside this man's home, I can only think of 2 scenarios. First one is there was a struggle there with Shannan, which makes sense given the 911 call. Second would be she dropped the jacket in her paranoia and removed the earing to make a call, that makes no sense though, b/c if paranoid and running in fear, the last thing on your mind would be to remove an earring.

Haven't read the doctor's letter yet, will get to that.

Another observation from the video, Amber's roommate was very damning of her in my opinion. I did not like the way he was putting her and her work down.

Trying to get caught up, been watching "that" trial for 2 months and way behind.
