i can never quite wrap my brain around how someone wants to kill...so foreign...can't imagine how it's erotic...or how it arouses a sense of omni-potence. I can't relate to it at all...it's not in my nature.

doing harm..controlling...destroying..

i get the adrenaline thing you would have from doing something bad...like bolting on a restraunt check when you're a teen...or something prankish...

but murder/sex ? can't grasp it...

I hear you. I keep reading about psychology, serial killers, psychopaths, trying to understand....and logically sometimes I can - but really, I don't. Sad stuff.

On an aside we just recently had four people locked up for something very similar. I posted it. I'll find the link.

A woman would meet men on a regular dating site. Meet them for dinner. Play coy and then say he could come back to her motel room. Get comfortable and in busts another woman and two guys. I think it was at gun point.

How many men that met a woman on a dating site and get held up in a hotel room want to report that? Thankfull one guy did and it came to light there were other victims.

Does anyone know who runs the website http://longislandserialkiller.com/??

I keep coming across strange things on there and earlier today they had, I kid you not, T-shirts for sale. They said "Who is the LI Serial Killer?" The t-shirt section of the site has since been removed. I think a lot of people complained. I don't know, I just found it a bit macabre. Wondering if anyone else has looked around that site.

ETA: This entry on there has stayed in my mind, I find it pretty disturbing: http://longislandserialkiller.com/2011/03/my-trip-to-gilgo-beach-in-response-to-long-island-serial-killer/

Were there any other message boards that all 4 known victims posted on, besides Craigslist?

I have been reading stuff on that site too... shudder..... thank you for going there and looking. Stuff like that is a big part of this case, no if's, and's, or butt's about it! Come back here to be with your friends, OK???

If the bodies were put into acid, then possibly bleach (because the skeletons appear so white?), then who would have a facility that would be able to handle such a "project?"

Sorry, Supernin!! I immediately read your post to be about "longislanderotica.com" - that is what my response was aimed at...... the "longislandserialkiller.com" site has been pretty useless IMHO. Did you find something useful there???

Patterns. Something that bothers me about ALC is that she deviated from the pattern. She repeatedly posted ads that involved "incalls" as opposed to "outcalls." Whether for protection or to run a scam. Doesn't matter. It was a clear pattern. Yet, she suddenly does an "outcall" and disappears? Only to turn up dead three months later. Three months during which her sister never bothered to report her missing? Something just doesn't add up.

Hi all - this is my first post but I've been following the case pretty closely since December. As an aside, I very strongly think JB is guilty here. I think he peaked officers interest on his interviews and that is what led to the discovery of the bodies nearby his home. I also think the reason they continue to search for Shannan is because they can tie him directly to her disapearance, and if they find her body, directly to her murder. There seems to be a good amount of circumstansial evidence to tie him to her, but without a body they can't charge him. He knows this and that was his reason for the snide comment he made a few weeks ago alongs the lines of "I"m sure she's still alive, what did she do, drop dead walking down the road"? No body, no murder.

As for the convo about ALC - I don't find it too surprising she was never reported missing. She had been a drug user and prostitute for a decade, her family may have thought she was hiding, or running, or didn't want to be found. Her sister may even have thought she was running from her "roommate" in particular. They may not have wanted to involve police for various reasons. I did read that they reported her missing as soon as the bodies were discovered, which leads me to believe they were worried about her but she may have done this type of thing before.

I also think its interesting that Melissa dissapeared earlier and her phone was used to harrass her family. Shannan next, and she used her phone to alert 911 that she felt she was in grave danger while at JBs house. The next two women, Meghan and Amber, who disapear after Shannan are specifically told to not bring their phone with them. To me, just sounds like someone learned his lesson..

It's very "exciting" as in the word "exciting" being used over and over and over.

I will do another 3-4 hours when I get off work this morning. I tell you it is mind blowing. and the John sites are worse....

Haha, no, I've had enough of those websites. I think we've all had too much exposure to that world, it's warping our minds ;-)

As for the Long Island Serial Killer site, I just thought the t-shirt sale was odd and if you click the second link in that post I just made, there's a weird blog entry about visiting the Gilgo area. The author is disturbingly happy about going there, the blog has actually been amended since the last time I saw it. It used to have a picture of a girl with glasses (a self-portrait, I think it was the author). I don't think it has anything to do with whoever committed this crime, it just bothered me a little. I went down to Gilgo/Oak Beach today and it was not at all a "happy" experience. I'm just shocked at how insensitive some people are.

I first came across the site by googling "long island serial killer" for some reading, and saw the site was one of the first hits. I remember thinking when I checked it out, I wonder whether LE or FBI created the site to see if they can tease out the SK or those who might have some info (johns, escorts, hobbyists, etc), but don't want to come forward. That occurred to me because of the myriad of articles the site published in full from MSM versus the use of a link. That struck me as odd. Today, I see at the bottom of each page:

Snipped; BBM
http://longislandserialkiller.com/2011/04/internet-site-wanted-revenge-on-murder-victim/

Longislandserialkiller.com publishes news and information about the bodies found in the Gilgo Beach area and is a resource for people worried about a potential serial killer on Long Island.

We express deepest sympathy to the victims...

SBM - I know Mysterview!!! From the beginning, this story has felt like a real life version of a twisted version of the movie Kiss the Girls starring Morgan Freeman.

I am admittedly not seeing a relation. Then again, I'm not sure why some think the SK is keeping his victims for some extended period, (or, for that matter, torturing them), before murdering them. As I have not read any articles that suggest either.

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/18/n...-for-bodies-key-role-for-officer-and-dog.html

here's an article about the officer and k9, blue, who had orginally found the first victims and how the officer went about chosing that area to search.

obviously he's not a suspect in the case. if hadn't been searching that specific area, we wouldn't be at where we are today.

So Officer John Mallia has been with the SCPD for 31 years and his K9 partner Blue has been doing this for 6 years yet we are supposed to believe that this was a training session? SCPD really thinks we are idiots!!

Yes! I see now what you meant. Nice and easy for the SK that evening! But with SG---IMO, she turned the SK/John down. She was not interested in the job, even for the amount of money he probably offered her. Problem was, the SK had selected SG as his victim, and he was going to have her no matter. He contacted her as she was leaving. And he already planted himself in the area. He works the escort sites in LI and vicinity. After all, he uses the area as his burial grounds. Wish I had seen the special!

This would explain why she didn't want to leave JB's house.

Lol...now I'm even more leaning toward LE/FBI created! Must have missed that page before: "To finally see the “Gilgo Beach” sign, I was ecstatic. Just the possibility of driving past undiscovered bodies on Ocean Parkway was enough to get my blood flowing." Another thing that seemed way over the top to me, in addition to copying the entire articles from major MSM, were the detail of the "tags."

We touched on this just before the last discussion was locked up (because of the links we posted to the actual sites discussing ALC and the others) and I have been meaning to ask more about this since it appears that viewing that site requires a membership. Obviously, someone very smart tipped off this reporter (and hopefully LE) about this.

What we see here is motive as well as a legitimate threat. The "people" who they have to "take care" of prostitutes who stiff Johns like this are either

1) Wannabee hit men

or

2) Actual hit men.

Either way, they are both potentially dangerous (and capable). All along everyone is assuming that a single male SK is responsible for these murders and for dumping these bodies. What if it's two or three guys and/or guys & gals?

Pissed off Johns who had enough?

Angry pimps or prostitutes who no longer work with the missing woman?

Current or former LE who has a grudge against prostitutes (possibly because one of them may have cost him/her their job or a promotion in the past)?

Current or former correction officer who worked at an all-girls correctional facility and now despises prostitutes?

Woman or women who are fed up with their spouses "hobbying" so they take revenge on prostitutes?

Anything is possible.

One thing is for sure- the person or people responsible for these deaths simply do not value the lives of prostitutes. They view them as dispensable.

An organized ring trying to cut down on the competition in their territory?

I assumed that in this case "training" meant "keeping in shape," not "just learning." Especially if the dog hadn't been called out to work recently.

yeah he seems a little too "ecstatic" doesn't he?

I wish there was some way to see what the actual date those photos were taken. Were they taken to document a morbid trip after news came out? Or are they markers to remind a sk of his trips to dump bodies?
