First of all I just want to say that you guys rock with all the investigating ya'll have done.

Secondly of all I really want to say that the bodies found in LI are from the same person that killed the ladies in AC, it was a thought I had before LE said they thought they might be connected.


Thirdly of all someone in the last thread mentioned something about the SK being in the military and that was one of the first things that came to my mind reading over the other threads, specifically someone in the Navy. My husband who is in the Navy will tell me stories of how some guys will hire prostitutes and get caught, they would also have odd hours and the days would vary depending on the command they were in. If they were stationed on a ship they would be gone X amount of months out of the year as well as having the odd weeks or weekends out to sea.

Question: Are there any Naval stations in the area?

Fourthly of all I don't think the SK has anything to do with SG's disappearance, I think the people she was with that night and early morning do but that is just me.

Fifthly of all I don't think the SK is liking all the media attention, if he wanted attention for the crimes he/she committed then they would have by now wrote a letter as to where to find the bodies either to the police or media. I do think the person was twisted enough to call family members as a way to hurt them, he might get off on that sort of thing.


These are just my thoughts and opinions as I don't think I am really any good at sleuthing out things.

Once the 'suits' get a good profile on this unusual person, they might release information that would draw him out. I don't know how good the Suffolk LE is at profiling serial killers but the FBI should advise them what info can be released. I really don't know how this works tho. so MOO

I still cannot shake the image of our perp driving down the road, stopping and hurling a body out of the back of his vehicle, to land in the brush, just feet from the road. THe number of times this would have been done. :shakehead: Chilling. But that is what I think he did.

This guy is frightening in his composure. He must have felt pretty confident these bodies would not be found which speaks to his familiarity with the area. What concerns me is now that his dumping ground has been located, is he still killing and simply using a new method of disposal? Or is he really so in control of himself that he has been able to forego the need to kill while this intense heat is on?

The way I understand it is, she told the neighbor THEY were trying to kill her. So are they looking for serial tag team killers?

Burlap sacks are available at some hardware and farm stores. Therefore, they are available to almost anyone. In terms of their practical use, they can be used for:

peanuts, oranges, apples, pears, corn and other fruits and veggies. They can be used for clamming and lobster. They can be used for roadkill.

Good list.

Long Island is potato-growing country -- lots of burlap bags for that, though I think the papery kind with a window is more common these days.

Also lots of clamming along that stretch of shoreline.

I've been following this closely but don't have many opinions yet....too little info. Really the only I have ........ I do not believe these murders are connected to the AC murders.

It's possible an animal carried it away from the original location. That could be why they aren't sure whether it goes with the other remains they've found.

The thing on top of the truck in the bing picture looks like...I don't know what it is but I think it is a GPS tracker or Satellite tracker I believe - they are circular and white. I've seen them on vehicles before. Does anyone know what I'm talking about???

I thought it looked almost like one of those plastic "hats" that look like baseball caps that they sometimes put on top of auto parts delivery vehicles or pizza vans or other small delivery vans. But this doesn't look like a vehicle you'd use for delivery. It's a big thing -- Ford 250? Even 350? -- and that double cab means you could carry a crew of five or six, a bunch of equipment in the back, and still tow a pretty good sized trailer (maybe with a front-loader on it, for instance, if you're doing construction.)

But the tracker is a good thought. That could mean he has internet/shortwave/radio communication on board.

WaltzingMatilda, thank for posting that, I was not aware of that at all. Pretty powerful stuff. It sort of confirmed my line of thinking in that he probably began by using massage parlors to satisfy his sexual needs. Over time that developed into prostitutes, and eventually led him to his fantasies of killing prostitutes. Like I wrote earlier, I think he experimented with the AC women, being they were easier to pick up and wouldn't go noticed when getting into a strange car. It happened all the time. And eventually, he evolved into using outcall services and limiting his exposure. I could certainly be way off the mark, especially if they prove to be unrelated.

HeinekenMan, I believe it is important, at least for me, to distinguish the fact that he hasn't contacted LE or taunted them, but rather he contacted the families. I believe if he was saying "come get me" he would have contacted LE and taunted them. I believe he did not want the bodies to be found, and his need to taunt the family and the sister was fueled by his need to escalate whatever he game he is playing in his mind. It's the power over the women he craves, I believe, not power over the police. He clearly has a deep hatred for women, especially prostitutes, and his obsession to hold power over them made him call the sister.
Anyway, just my thoughts, take them with a grain of salt, and feel free to disagree. Thanks again to everyone for allowing me to be a part of this forum

I was interested to read that one body had a ligature around the neck in one of the links here. Didn't I read that one of the AC victims was found with a ligature around the neck, or am I misremembering? If so, maybe that's why LE thinks there is a connection. Both ligatures could be the same type.

Only one other victim has been identified. The first body found was that of Kim Raffo, 35, who most recently resided in a boarding house in the 100 block of Ocean Avenue in Atlantic City. She died from ligature strangulation. She is believed to have been in the water for a couple of days.

LE has said they're looking into the connection. They haven't said whether they've found anything, but they haven't denied it, either. And it was one of the first things they said after they found the bodies and acknowledged a probable serial killer.

I strongly suspect that there's something in the "signature" that hasn't been released to the public that makes them connect the two.

NJGuy, Our sleuths spvernin and Internetgirl have been sleuthing escort review sites for comments on the known victims. One guy stated that he got his start in AC and took a 'foot taxi' to a massage parlor where he had a great time. Then he says that there is no place like that on LI!

Anyway, just wanted to catch you up since you are still new and your post made me think of this. We all thought 'foot taxi' was a strange term for rickshaw, especially since the AC victims were found without shoes and socks.

That discussion would be on thread 2 or 3....can't remember for sure.

That message was posted by a guy whose name starts with an "M" and he was posting over at a website called "Utopiaguide" under a thread about 'Atlantic City'. He posted the message on 1/15/2010 at 12:35 pm. His join date was Nov 2009. I don't think I can copy the entire actual post by him but I will paraphrase what he said and then direct quote the important part:

"Never get tired of looking for hot girls because you never know who you are going to run into. When you find a place you are comfortable, you should stick with it. I have read a lot of his other stuff because he posted frequently. Interestingly, it has his current status as being "banned". He primarily seems to frequent massage parlors, or at least that is what he is reviewing. I do not think he is necessarilly the SK, but since he is very active in visiting massage parlors and prostitutes, and since he seems to network with a lot of other guys that seem to want to share their experiences, and since he admits to being involved in that scene in Atlantic City and Long Island, I would think he would be someone that should at least be intereviewed .... for his experiences with other John's if nothing else.

Coast Guard stations are located at Fire Island, in Atlantic City, in Baltimore and in Daytona Beach.

One thing to keep in mind about Long Island is that although this little stretch of coast is rather deserted, Long Island has a population of 2 to 3 million people in Nassau and Suffolk counties, plus another 5 million or so in Queens and Brooklyn. That's a very large population base and statistically speaking there are going to be other, unrelated murders.

So while it would be odd if one of the bodies was from a different murder, or if Shannon Gilbert didn't run into the SK, or if there are two SKs (which is what I'm starting to think*), it's a big enough area to not make it a terribly unlikely coincidence. That deserted stretch of road seems like a very inviting place to dump. And it looks like one of the few isolated places that would be known to someone who did NOT know the area well but only came in as a tourist or weekend person.

* I have to go look up an earlier article, the one that covered some other unsolved murders on Long Island. Several of them were dismemberment killings.

Hey WM! No problems.... I am not really a "taking credit" kind of girl. Besides - I stumbled on the site because of the work Internetgirl and others were doing early on. One of the thing I love about WS's is that we work together on things like this. It is enormously helpful to have so many ideas, thoughts, and internet skills combined in one place. Sure hope we get some news today about the identity of the other bodies, and especially that child. I wish we could at least get a time frame from how long ago LE thinks they were killed.
