Thanks for your response. I'm asking specifically if it's common to see a reward offered by Crime Stoppers in the specific instance that it is suspected she is either suicidal or a missing hiker? I ask this emphasizing that I don't believe she is. Just covering all bases.

From the very beginning I'm under strong impression that the camp and the car were staged, most probably by someone known to her. Any ex turned stalker in sight?

By all accounts he appears to be a very, very broken man, and understandably so.
Sometimes family members come here to read about the searches for their missing loved ones.
I hope he doesn't.

I am sorry, and deeply apologize if my comment has caused grief or heartache to anyone. I will report my own post. Again, sorry.

Based on the below linked videos from Rachael's vigil, it seems more likely that her campsite in somewhere in the vicinity of the below marked map. I based this on 1. the video(s) show a fork off of Hernandez road to a dirt road named "Genesee Street" that leads to her campsite and has been blocked off by LE. 2. Based off multiple articles that were linked by others (please correct me if I am wrong), her campsite was described as being on a narrow dirt road alongside the Sacandaga river.
The general site marked on the below map seems to be the only area (that is visible on the available maps) that matches this criteria.

What I also found interesting from the WNYT video was Rachael's aunt's interview in which she states that Rachael's friend CN was supposed to stay with Rachael at the campsite the weekend after Rachael went missing, and that Rachael's friend actually showed up to the campsite on Friday (the same day Rachael's father arrived at the campsite and reported Rachael missing). Could it be that Rachael's friend was the first to arrive and alerted Rachel's father when she realized that Rachael was not there? With so much little information being released about this case, it leads me to question some of the initial media reports.

Also useful in the WNYT video is the visual of the bridge area in which Rachael last texted her mother at 9:15(?) PM. Based off of the video, and google map images, a possible area for this text was the intersection of old state road 30 and county road 5, where there is a parking area.

Great job with the map!

Really confusing case, one of the most I've followed here... lots of details are missing. A time line, exactly what was observed and my whom, what of her effects are missing, how was her new job going, social media, financial/ medical/emotional history....

This is one of the most bizarre cases I've followed on WS.
If she was suicidal, which I'm doubting at this point, why leave the car running and the door open?
It rained a little that day (or night?) up in Wells, so the search dogs could have lost her scent as a result.
I don't believe she would go off hiking on her own past 9:00 at night. That doesn't make sense. Up in the Adirondacks, it gets super dark, to where you can't see your hand in front of your face at night.

Without any info from the police, it's as if she disappeared into thin air.
I suspect they know much more than we do at this stage of the game.

Car left running reminds me of this case I followed:

ETA:
Then there is this sad abduction/murder case, Krista Dittmeyer Missing: Police Find Car Running With Daughter Inside, But Mom Gone - but perhaps car was left running too keep daughter warm who was left inside and for her to be found..http://www.truecrimereport.com/2011/04/krista_dittmeyer_missing_polic.php

Argh. So much frustration, ok CN is the girl who let the details out of
the bag regarding the camp door and car running early on, now supposedly she was there on Friday? With her baby? Wonder why she didn't mention that in her FB plea? (No suspicion, just curious). Ok maybe Dad must have gotten there first because "he goes every Friday" according to multiple quoted sources. But why would he go if she was having a girls weekend? I'm beginning to think there's more than one structure on this camp probably?

Also, it's says in there that police were interested in the way the camp was left?

Now for the really confusing snippet: Rachel's uncle said she was at the town's dam when she texted her mother
JUST BEFORE SHE WAS LAST SEEN on June 22.

Ok, so she texted her mom FROM the dam? Or that she was AT the dam? AND THEN she was seen? I thought she texted mom from entrance to camp?Crappy journalism at its very finest. No clarity. Yuck. I do more when I post here.

Only way I can make sense out of that mess is to find out what time she had dinner with family, if it was afternoon then perhaps she went for a hike (as earlier mentioned) perhaps near the dam. Then later drove home.
Ugh I don't know. But it makes me hopeful that now I think police have LOADS more information than I first thought. I'm going with foul play. Where are you Rachael?

And I forgot, apparently she left a dog behind. Where, at her folks or back at the camp?????

This is the first I heard she left a dog behind. If the dog was with her at the camp and the door was left open, was the dog found or did it run away? Or, could it have been in the car and they found it there? As you said, it could have been a childhood dog left with her parents, too.

A comment by a relative in one of these posted news link said she wouldn't leave her dog behind that she loved that dog. But my instinct is saying to me that the dog probably is staying with the parents and the relative pointed it out just to reinforce the idea she wasn't missing voluntarily iykwim. I didn't mean to allude to the idea that I thought dog was at the camp. Sorry if I confuse, this case has me in its grips and I'm so worried for her.

Yes, probably a dog she grew up with that her parents have. I hope so. It really bothers me when these cases make animals victims, too.

It bothers me because we can't even explain it to them. The same applies to young children.

I saw a family member mention on social media how she loves life and her dog, but I haven't heard the dog was actually with her. That would be important info to include because she could've gone running after the dog. However, no one formally mentioned a dog being with her.

A dog saved it's owner's life, a hiker, in the Grand Canyon on 20/20 program last night. So, I was thinking about dogs, and then came here today and everyone's talking about dogs.

I would like to know more about the friend showing up the camp with her child for a visit the next day, and what the scene was like at the campsite. I also want to hear what Rachael's father thinks as to whether he feels his daughter went off hiking.

Touching. Love dogs!

In this article, the friend CN doesn't mention going up to the camp with her child the next day. She did reach out to Shania Twain, which is nice, but gosh I wish someone would just give me the straight facts on this case and what to think.

Nellis, speaking via Facebook, said Twain is Mattice's favorite singer.

"I wanted to bring awareness to her disappearance and wanted to make a dream of Rach's come true," Nellis said. "She just loves Shania, so for her to reach out in any way is a dream come true."

The two met on the first day of kindergarten at Warren Street School in Johnstown. Nellis described her friend as smart, witty and kind.

"She always gives more than she takes. That's the one thing I've told everyone about her," Nellis said. "She just has the biggest heart."

Nellis said she spoke to Mattice often. She did not say when she spoke to Mattice last.

Nellis said her friend had been living there for about a month.

"It was a goal of hers to live in Wells," Nellis said. "She loved it; it was one of the things she loved most. She loved being in the outdoors."

Nellis said Mattice was not afraid to be alone at camp and had no enemies.

"Rach has no fear because she knows how strong she is. She gets that from her family. They are all strong people," Nellis said.

In the Facebook message, Nellis said, "If I could say anything to her right now if I knew she'd see it is: Rachael, hunny, everyone loves and misses you. Things are not the same without you home. I'm not the same without you here...

CN posted on her own fb page she went to the camp Friday and had R's iced coffee ready in the car for her, I believe it is against TOS to post screen shots from Facebook or else I would.

Thanks. You've been doing a great job keeping this thread updated. I saw mention of her following through with their plans and hanging on to the iced coffee she got for Rachael, but not the story of her going or arriving at the camp.

At the start, it definitely sounded like they thought Rachael was abducted by someone. More worried as the days go by. Is there ever going to be a press conference to get the facts straight?

I will start working on a timeline later tonight.

This morning I was looking at one of the FB posts and someone replied to a comment, saying something to do with the FBI and right as I was going to click it, poof it disappeared..

Just saw mention of the FBI being involved on a family member's fb page posted June 27th and, although we can't take it as fact, it sounds possible if someone abducted Rachael.

Could she have gotten lost and injured out there in that rugged, wooded terrain without any one finding her by now? I know they searched some of the water areas. She's still missing and I'm holding hope that somehow she'll be found alive. This must be a terrible time for her family and friends waiting and hoping.

I keep thinking about the car door and the car in the on position. Each idea I come up with is shot down while thinking about it.

I thought maybe she was unloading groceries and left the car running until she came back out. But I would think a young person with limited funds and such a long drive back and forth to town would want to conserve gas.

Then I thought maybe she was grabbed as she was getting out of the car but before even getting ready to get out you would turn your car off.

Nothing makes sense unless she was sitting in the car with somebody and he attacked her and carried her off without turning off the engine. That doesn't even make any sense does it?

A person pulls up, turns off their car then goes about their business. Unless they pull up and are going to run into the camper to get something and run right back out to go someplace else and gets held up between the car and camper.

But who the heck would she be visiting in the middle of nowhere? I'm hoping they have taken a really good look at all of her neighbors.

That makes the most sense to me. Runs home to grab something, leaves the car running and everything in the car since she will only be gone a minute.

Hummm that one sounds like the best. But how come the dogs didn't pick up anything???

She has some family in Wells, maybe even cousins or friends her age. It was only 9:15 p.m.

Go out for drinks and music? Visit a friend?

Maybe she just needed to get something from the camp and carry stuff in, her hands were full, so she left the car running with her purse and phone inside the car. (hmm...wait...separate key to open the camp door or is it on the car key ring left in the car?)

Also, no one has said they had plans with her, but it seems people who have talked to LE have been asked, as I saw mentioned on social media, to not share all the details.

Don't know much about the dog search, but I take it they didn't track her hiking off onto any trail? I don't know why the dogs wouldn't hit on anything, but her scent is all over that area from living there. Would dogs pick up on her scent if she was placed in a vehicle right away and driven off? The neighbor only noticed her car, but maybe they missed seeing everything.

This is a hard to figure out. Where is Rachael?

Good thought on the key ring! Just guessing they were on two different key chains. Maybe her parents just gave her the key to the camp trailer so she hadn't put it on the same ring as her car keys yet. Dashing in to get something or put something away (like groceries), is all I can think of. If Rachael's mom is anything like mine, when I was young and visited my parents they always packed me a care package, including leftovers, to take when I left. Maybe she dashed in to put the food in the fridge?
