Found Alive NY - Rachael Mattice, 24, Wells, 22 June 2016

Lots of people on here seem to think it's very possible someone took Rachael.
I tend to think so, but it's been a mess of conflicting reports, IMO.

Well, I didn't believe Rachael texted she was going hiking at night, and I just saw a family member on social media wanting to spread the word that the news article saying she sent a text that she was going hiking that night is not true.

MOO, the family needs to appoint one spokes person to talk to the media and clear up some of the confusion. I'm sure many people close to her have a gut feeling of what they think happened, but nobody is sharing crucial details. MOO, if there's any signs she was abducted, please get the real facts out to the public now while you have media attention!

Agree. She may have sent a going hiking text that night. But the hiking part may have been actually referenced as planning to hike the next morning. Idk.

Now it says she worked for some people out there or in someone's house or something. So I would check the meth heads that live in town or something. We could have a Holly Bobo situation here. Idk.

Hopefully she is found soon.

This is one of the news articles that mention the car and camp doors being open, but since then the sheriff issued a statement saying the site looked ordinary. Early on we heard her car was left running and had run out of gas, but lately news articles and people aren't mentioning any of that.

...Rachael’s mother, said.

Wendy said she had dinner with Rachael at her home in Johnstown on June 22. That was the last time Wendy had any contact with her.

On Friday, Wendy said a family member went to the family’s campsite on Hernandez Road in Wells where Rachael has been living in a camper. But she was nowhere to be found.

Her camp and car door were found wide open with her purse and phone still inside.

Below is a working timeline for Rachael's disappearance. The information below includes a source for the information in parenthesis. If two or more sources reported the same information, I only listed one source to save space. So if a piece of information only has on source listed, it doesn't necessarily mean that it was the only source that reported said information. I doubt that I was able to include all information reported, so please let me know if I have left something out. The sub bullets (in this case the bullets with no fill) contain information that either deviates, contradicts, or further explains the bullet above it. The blue writing here and at the end of the post are my comments and not part of the timeline.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need clarification about the timeline.

-There have been questions raised on this thread about the reports of Rachael being SEEN in Wells on the night she went missing. From going over the available information, it seems to me that this source is the neighbor on Hernandez road that reported seeing Rachael's car arrive at her family camp around 9:15 PM (from the Albany Times Union article referenced above).

-There is also much confusion on this thread about the reports of how the family camp was found. From the above articles, it seems that the information reported about the doors being open, engine out of gas, and belongings in the car come from interviews and social media posts from family and friends of Rachael Mattice. I do believe that these reports are true (or somewhat true), but I don't think that LE wanted these reports to become public. This is best exemplified by the Channel 13 vigil video in which it is reveled that LE said details about how the campsite was left, immediately peaked their interest, but these details haven’t been made officially public. The use of the word officially implies to me that LE knows that these details are public, but that they were never supposed to have been made public.

Thanks my friend. But why did she want to live in a isolated trailer on a camp ground by herself at that age?

Now imo. A local is involved with abducting her in a isolated area. Jmo.

Now I'm not blaming anyone. But I'm just surprised that she chose to live there. Was she running from an abusive lover or something?

I believe it was because she recently took a job as a Home Health Aide, in the Wells area, working for Hamilton County. It was reported that this was a temporary living arrangement. Her family already had this campsite in Wells, so I think that she was living there out of convenience.

Agree. But there are plenty of home health aide jobs.

So hopefully she didn't find this job on Craigslist. And hopefully all relatives or visitors of the client or her employer are checked out thoroughly.

Because I truly feel that someone plotted on the nice looking young female that would be living solo in a desolated area due to a job offer.

Jmo. This was a planned abduction by someone that knew when she was due back. Jmo.

And I think it was by a friend or a relative of the family that she was going to be working for or something.

Imo. Several people knew her plans in that area. And they knew that she would be coming back solo with all help 100s of miles away. Jmo.

So as of now. I trust no one in that area. Jmo.

Extra thanks and then some to you hatchz for all the work put into doing that time-line! It needs to linked at top of every new thread.

New to area, young, pretty, living alone in forest on narrow dirt road, no cell reception --- no good to say the least!

I agree with you and I hope her family was discouraging her from doing so but I know young women have their own minds.

I know she was starting a new job and I know she was probably low on funds but I bet she could have found a room for rent until she could afford an apartment. Something safer in town.

She drove a nice car but going back and forth all that long way would surely be a big gas bill..money that could have been spent on a nice room in town.

Was somebody with her? Did she meet up with somebody in town and bring them along? Did they lock the camper doors out there in the middle of nowhere when they were away?

So very many questions and no answers and no Rachael.

I am really surprised there have been no press conferences with the amount of interest this missing girl is causing.

It's almost as if they want us to go away.

My wife knows someone living by herself in an unused family vacation home in a very wooded, sparely populated lake area.... She been okay doing this for a number of years now, and we do (wife an I) scratch our heads thinking about her safety. As for the why, the gal simply likes living alone where she does not have to answer to her parents or anyone for that matter, and being rent-free is a another big reason. Unlike Rachael, she does have cellphone and Internet connection...

I think it would be an adventure in a way and can see myself staying there at her age. Added bonus of free rent! I've known others who have done the same - one was attempting to start an off-the-grid life, one wanted a break from living in the city, one was writing a book, etc. If my daughter wanted to do this I would be fine with it.

If I'm remembering correctly her FB photos paint her as quite an outdoorsy young woman.

Anyone know for how long she's been living at the campsite - days, weeks, month? Don't think it said in the time-line...

This definitely strikes me as someone who knew Rachael's habits. Someone who knew she'd be arriving at that time (and alone). Whether that means it's someone she knows, someone who lives nearby, or someone who was watching her remains to be seen.

Bringing forward my own post to say that, after all the information (or lack thereof) I've seen released in this case, I still hold the same opinion as I did in the first several days after Rachael disappeared.

It's hard in this case to not be grasping at straws when it comes to unsubstantiated Facebook rumors because we have so little official information to go. I'm leaning toward what one other poster said just up-thread. I believe the details that were "unofficially" released in the beginning are true were probably supposed to be kept quiet. I imagine that's why we don't see too many media sources reporting on them and why LE has not spoken out. What I don't know is how this is benefitting them. The perp already knows how the scene was left so I cannot make sense of how keeping this info under wraps will help the investigation. Alas, I trust they are smarter than me. I just hope it works.

Just covering all my bases here -- I feel that if R had taken her own life, she would have been found by now.

Another poster mentioned up-thread that it almost seems like LE is telling us to go away. No doubt some information they did not want released has been, but I do still believe they need our help finding Rachael. If they didn't, she would be home by now. They aren't as vocal as other LE agencies I have seen and I feel strongly that's because they have a very strong person of interest already.

Over the holiday weekend I was in Johnstown. There was no chatter about Rachael amongst the friends/family I was with (which I was surprised by) and I did not want to be the one to bring her up. The reason for that is, due to my years on Web Sleuths, I have strong opinions about what has happened here -- and maybe more specifically -- what has not happened. There were people there who know the Mattice family and I still want them to be able to hang on to as much hope as they can/need to get through these difficult days. That said, we did venture out to the store while in town and I'm happy to say I saw Rachael's poster on the doors of almost every business we drove past. I'm confident there is no one in the area who has not seen and heard about Rachael. She is definitely loved and cared for and missed very much.

Has her car been taken in for forensic processing?

Jmo.

FWIW, Johnstown is less than an hour from Wells, it is not 100s of miles away. I agree with you for the most part though. I believe this was someone who knew her comings and goings and knew she was living there alone. Unless she went to her parents for dinner every Wednesday evening, I'm not sure how many people knew she would be returning home at that particular time on that particular night. More credence to the theory that it is a neighbor who saw her pulling in, JMHO.

This would be different if she were coming home from work at a routine time that she followed every night. That might open up more possibilities because then it would be likely someone either followed her or knew her routine.

And another thing I just thought about...Rachael probably had to work Thursday morning. Why else would she leave her parents house and drive an hour at night? Wouldn't she just stay the night? IMO, she had to work early the next morning.

Her Facebook says she works at Hamilton county public health as a home health aide since May. So I'm going to guess she's lived in the camper since at least then. I also went to their FB page and they haven't even shared a poster for her, which I find strange because wouldn't you want to help spread the word about a missing employee? Also, if it was after dark, the neighbor would hardly be able to tell whos car pulled up the road aside from the headlights. If another car went up the road it could have been with the headlights off. I am not convinced anything happened that night anyway. I think its just as plausible something occurred the next morning as other posters have said upthread.

Yes, it could have very easily happened the next morning. Maybe someone knew what time she left for work in the mornings and was waiting in her backseat for her. Maybe once she got in and started her car they ambushed her. Maybe she ran out of her car toward her camper to lock herself inside but they got to her as she opened the door...or before she could lock it.

BBM

..exactly, as well as Friday.

..her Dad didn`t go up there until Friday night at 6, she`d last been heard from Wednesday night at 9:15 p.m. I would think her job would have been concerned if she missed 2 days of work, it`s possible that she had those days off. when did the friend and her baby arrive
