shades of DH :(

Sounds to me like the Sherrif believes her. Sounds to me like she was drugged.

This was a strange case in the beginning, and strange in the way is appears to now end. Happy at least she's back okay.

shades of DH :(

Who is DH and what is the reason everyone uses his/her initials? I understand when it's done because we cannot state the person's full name but I find that in almost all cases we can use the victim's name. I'm not familiar with that case so I must be missing something. Perhaps someone could point me in the right direction.

Omg. You just made me remember that case. How did I forget? We all had to assume the pregnancy was faked. And she had a medical condition that made it extremely high risk. Argh. I have to know again ..

Great! Now I'm going to have to try and remember that case and go snooping around.......There goes my Thursday!

that is what law enforcement is paid to do. yes, they are paid by tax money. no, we don't have a right to know anyone's personal business.
Once LE is involved, almost everything related to their investigation is subject to disclosure under FOIA laws. Personal medical records aren't typically included (may vary by state law), but I believe New York's statute doesn't have a lot of other exemptions.

If someone's personal business involves the government in any way, then, yes, we pretty much do have a right to know. Including third parties who are incidental to the investigation... the third party info disclosed in the Seivers case is extremely personal in nature.

Whether any news agencies, or anyone else, chooses to file a FOIA request is up to them. If no one asks for the info, then likely only a minimal amount will be disclosed.

Moo, IANAL, etc.

This actually reminds me of this case:

AH, a teenage girl from New Hampshire who was kidnapped on her way home from school. Many accused her of running away, but she was actually held prisoner and sexually assaulted for 9 months by a sick guy. She somehow managed to convince him to let her go. IIRC, he drove her back to her hometown and dropped her off to walk home.

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?252716-NH-AH-14-North-Conway-9-October-2013-15

IIRC, she was chained and locked up most of the time in a shed behind the kidnapper's trailer home. After full investigation, prosecutors and LE determined it was a kidnapping and learned how she managed to stay alive and convince him she wouldn't tell if he released her. Very brave girl.

she was a victim of sexual assault, so she is initials now. she was abducted from Vallejo, ca and her abduction was dismissed as a hoax at the time. the perp then attempted to do the same thing some months later in Dublin, ca. she is suing Vallejo PD.

Local reporter Dan Levy with WNYT: https://twitter.com/dlevywnyt

Hamilton Co. Sheriff Karl Abrams: the public deserves to know what happened to Rachael Mattice & they will.

Sheriff: I just don't have the answers now (about what happened to Rachael Mattice) but we're hoping to get them.

therefore, if she ran off because she is having mental issues, which wont be disclosed due to HIPAA, then we wont know, right? falls under none of our business.

And we're not likely to hear many details now because the case is still under investigation. If they know who the perp is, they're not going to reveal anything to the public. If they're trying to find the suspect, they're certainly not going to talk.

Well, certainly the fake pregnancy case falls under HIPAA. *If* she actually has a diagnosis of a mental disorder, then yes, likely protected. If she does not have a diagnosed mental disorder, was just stressed out, on a drug binge or a hookup, or simply wanted away for awhile, then that is likely fair game for a FOIA request.

If she has a mental disorder would she have been released from the hospital so quickly? Or would they hold her for psychiatric evaluation?

Moo, IANAL, etc. and so on.

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...-Astina-Barber-22-San-Bernardino-9-March-2015

Sahray Barber threw her laptop and backpack into some bushes and ran away because she was feeling "stressed". The area she disappeared from had recent attempted abductions and caused the whole town to pour their hearts, money and resources to find her when she even saw herself on tv and chose not to phone home until someone caught her at a shelter. Now they plan to bring charges against her.

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...yley-Turner-18-Bedford-Township-7-August-2014

Hayley Turner did the same and was charged, never showed any remorse, and she was found in worse condition (presumably from what MSM has said) than Rachael.

Also, AH saw Kibby's name in a cookbook and was able to describe him. Thats one reason they caught him.

So if Rachael been gone for 2 weeks and cannot (or will not) provide any information on the abductor, it reeks of hinky to me.

My hope is they know who did it and that is why there is no manhunt, no Bolo, no nothing, but if they don't and there is no search, what does that say?

Yes.....family and friends beg for attention to be focused on their loved one who is missing......please pray.....pass out fliers.....search high and low.....invest time and energy and emotions to help. Then, miracles do happen! The missing is no longer missing! Safe and healthy and HOME!

Friends and family.....see ya.....we want our privacy, now. Loved one was abducted and held against her will. Description of perp? What?? How insensitive! Never mind that someone who abducts and hold a person hostage is dangerous! Our loved one is safe. You're on your own!

I bet we never hear another word about this case.....

There was another case in California or Vegas where a woman hooked up with some guy and was too *cough* busy to contact anyone for several days. She was very surprised to come home to missing posters.

I've googled, but can't find this one and Idon't remember her name. Anyone else remember this case?

I just truly hope police have an idea of what actually happened and know that no one else is in danger. Unless they know who it is, which I don't think they do, they need to release vehicle info and a timeline so businesses can pull cctv and the people in the area can be on alert. Glad she is alive and safe.
