{snip}
he decided to go out that night and he didn't return home His wife calls
and says hes missing....he could be totally mortified she did this and chose to remain gone!
{snip}

Unless he had a serious contingency plan already in place--and I concede that anything is possible--I really can't buy him cutting off his proverbial nose to spite his face simply because he was pissed at her for reporting him missing for going out for the night.

What kinds of questions did you ask them?

I ran all of the theories by them. But all I got was facial expressions. The walking out theory got a laugh. They really were not able to give me anything because they were not allowed. They were very worried id repeat that they even knew something. go figure. Lol. Only got there's something about the car.

I am not surprised.

Thank you for sharing.

I would like to believe he just took off for whatever reason and is with extended family or on a beach somewhere.

What is more likely is that he ran for his life or was killed over something we most likely will never know.

BBM - What on earth gave them that idea? :floorlaugh:
I got nothing here but wanted to say thanks very much for your input.

Btw this is doing nothing to help me let go of the club that I've been stuck on since the beginning, which most likely has nothing to do with anything. I sure would like to move my thinking past that, the lunch box + tools. But I tend to get like a dog with a bone + it'll be a spell before I let it go I reckon.

LE said no foul play in regards to RM's disappearance, but perhaps a crime occurred before or separate from his disappearance. Hence holding the car because it was used in the commission of a crime.
This is the most logical explanation I've seen so far. JMO

I am copying and pasting my notes that I took from all of NCNY's visible posts. (Visible because we did have a downstairs thread for a minute and he posted down there - but it is not visible anymore).

Here's my notes of what I thought was relevant:

Over 6' tall & martial arts training. Hard to take down

New York State identification card - possibly could have had one (NCNY does)

Ronkonkoma line easy access to anywhere in northeast via MacArthur airport & penn station

Known to park in that exact spot at deer park

Loved all his cars (plural). When he worked in city he left car at deer park & road train. Since working in bk (Brooklyn?) either drive into Astoria & take train or drive all the way into work

iPhone 4S company phone

Someone rob associated with as he lied about being in touch with him when asked by im only to find out they were in touch through texts

Thought running away needed to be looked at more seriously after about 1 month missing

Neighbors camera shot is of the road - not aimed at mayers driveway/garage. Neighbors knew he would drive that part of the road on his way back from work
Loved all his carS - ALL CAPS

No connection that he's aware of with man shot at deer park on June 30 - frank giantto

No activity on his credit card or "known" bank accounts

No heart/health problems that he knows about

Left wallet at home that morning which wasn't unusual

Montaulk was a favorite vacation spot. Families went there together sometimes

Gambling never an issue. But he went to the scrap yard that day may lead one to think he was getting cash for something. He left this "open@ as we all know the problems affecting a large number of people today esp in the Li area

Thinks slim to no chance he started a new life with another woman in his opinion

Loud exhaust on bright red sports car would make it stick out - nothing reported by anybody seeing it that day

Family would stay a week at a time in montauk, but didn't recall name of hotel

Car wasn't located until over 24 hours later, leaving a big window as to when it could have got there

Always active & liked outdoors stuff. Always said he couldn't live without grass

Ida was at her parents house when rob came home that day & just missed him - live in same neighborhood

Thanks for this! Much appreciated! :)
I chuckled when it was mentioned that he was always active and liked outdoors stuff, Always said he couldn't live without grass........
I take it, it was meant to be the lawn.....
Otherwise he could be in Colorado or Washington if you get my drift... ;)

LOL! Yes, green grass as in lawn - at least that's how I took it. RM and NCNY would badger each other about their choices of where to live. RM preferred LI due to it being more "outdoorsy" and he could mow his own grass and enjoy his pool. (What I took from what NCNY posted).

But, it's entirely possible he liked GRASS, too!

LOL! except who really calls it "grass" anymore!

ETA: just reading everything you all are putting down. I follow RM's case because it is interesting, and because we can learn from it, and shucks, maybe even help with a tidbit or two...

Wouldn't the evidence be any prints lifted, fibers found, stains tested or piece of seat removed + such like that? The whole entire car wouldn't be needed, in my mind. JMO I agree, I'm sliding over the :fence: to the foul play side. :notgood: However LE may believe that, but its not what they've stated. IIRC They said they would follow up any leads but they did not believe foul play was involved.

Ray Gricar went missing in PA. His car was turned over to his housemate who had her own vehicle. They lived together, were not married. His car was found in a parking lot, "clean". They did find a minute amount of cigarette ash, I do mean a speck or two. This was odd because RG was very particular about taking care of his car also, it was a Mini Cooper + it was said he would never allow smoking in it. At the time LE said similar things, no evidence of a crime, do not suspect foul play. Same thing that NH LE said about Maura Murray. However NH LE held tight to her car even though they made it clear they thought she had taken off from a minor fender bender + there was no evidence of foul play. Her car was registered to her father + he could not for the life of him get NH LE to turn it over to him. This is all from my questionable memory.

The McStay's Trooper has never been released after more than 3 years of LE saying they "voluntarily" crossed the Mexican border.

As long as LE knows all, and is comfortable not releasing any info, then I am not sure I can complain. If he has a "background" , for instance, presumably LE does not believe it has to do with his disappearance. Sometimes, it does, i.e there was a case where the parents did not want to reveal that their missing daughter was into a certain type of "modeling", as they feared the public would not care about her as much. Sadly her work did have to do with her disappearance, so the info was necessary in order for the right people to be looking in the right places.

What I am saying is, as long as the family is 100% truthful with LE, I am okay not knowing everything, unless LE feels it is necessary in order to help find him.

Hmmm, interesting that they laughed about him leaving. Wonder what that meant? Maybe it was considered a proposterious theory? Also, the car does seem important. Thanks

I downloaded this from the Valdemort site accidentally. Mods said I could post it as long as it was in my own words and not verbatim since it's not an official LE/MSM release. So, I have had to go over it and “fix” it to post without leaving out anything pertinent and/or changing the way mods/IM wanted it worded.

This was released with the stipulation that this is an ongoing investigation, per instruction from law enforcement, certain information cannot be released to the public. The detectives are now allowing the following additional information to be released:

Rob’s wallet was found in the garage around 4pm on June 14th, after Ida realized he was late in coming home. At that time, $300.00 was also found in a drawer in the garage.

Approximately a week after Rob disappeared, detectives told Ida that a neighbor’s camera had spotted something "red" by her driveway on the 14th. The "red" was assumed to be Rob's car; seen approximately at 2:41pm and then again (pulling out of driveway) at 2:51pm. Ida was not home at this time; Ida’s car is seen pulling into the driveway at approximately 3:00pm. Only the top of Rob's car was seen. Rob was not seen -- nor was anyone else. (However, NCNY stated that the neighbor’s camera was pointed at the “road” and not the Mayer's driveway/garage)

Upon learning this information, the garage was thoroughly checked and Rob's cell phone was found in another drawer. It was turned off. By this time, it was known that the transaction at Arrow was for approx $300.00, which explains the $300.00 in the drawer.

Again, no one actually saw if Rob was home, but someone left his phone and money in the garage. We cannot be certain if it was Rob who was home, or if someone was with Rob, or if it was not Rob. If it was Rob, it is not understood why he would come home for 10 minutes and then go back out. Ida usually would have been home at this time. There is no evidence of Rob receiving or making a call during those 10 minutes.

Nothing from the house is missing -- no clothes, luggage, personal items, important documents ... nothing. No note was left; nothing of importance was found.

It went on to state that LE had okayed the family to release this information on 8/28/13.

I also have a Q&A with IM, but I won't post unless mods say it's okay, since it is from the Valdemort site and not "official".

ALSO, I have a note that NCNY, after about a month, though it more likely that RM "ran away" as opposed to committed suicide. IIRC he said that running away would have been "less messy" than suicide and if it had been suicide, he felt sure that they would have found RM by then.

I agree with that last part. I can see a person not wanting to commit suicide in their own home - don't want kids to see it, don't want family to have to live with the memory of what happened in the family home, etc. And, I think that they surely would have wanted to have been found by now for closure. So, suicide may not have been at the home, but wouldn't be so hard to find as to keep this going on this long.

TCG-- I think the plan may have been in the works for awhile----maybe thats the event that set things in motion. RM may have been planning to go-IM knew it but "things went off the rails". Maybe it was the Italy trip, a fight on the phone, a fight the week before.

I think the time has come for Momoffourboys/Wonder Woman to take her lariat of truth and use it!!!!!!!

Pennsylvania

IIRC--there was apossibility of suicide b/c his elder brother committed suicide as well. I think his car was found near where the brother died.
