Vermont State Police Response to New York Prison Escape
June 10, 2015


As part of the response to the recent Dannemora prison escape and the ensuing investigation, the Vermont State Police have implemented the following steps to aid in the search and apprehension of the escaped individuals. These steps come as a result of investigative information gathered by New York State detectives that indicate the two COULD have intended to travel to Vermont. We want to remind the public however that there has been NO SIGHTING of the pair in Vermont, and the Vermont State Police and all Vermont Law Enforcement will be vigilant in apprehending the subjects BEFORE they enter Vermont. The Vermont State Police are monitoring travel routes entering the state, and have been doing so since the escape was discovered early Saturday morning.

Below is a list of the steps Vermont State Police will implement in response to this situation:


* A Vermont State Police (VSP) detective is currently assigned to the Command Post in New York and is providing situational awareness to the Vermont State Police.
* VSP Criminal Division will disseminate flyers to go out through local Troopers to private campgrounds. VSP Bureau of Criminal Investigation is contacting the Vermont Department of Forest and Parks to disseminate these flyers to all state campgrounds.
* The VSP Tactical Team is ready to respond anywhere in the state based upon any potential sightings.
* If a situation develops anywhere in VT indicating the presence of the escapees, all available Vermont State Troopers statewide will respond to the scene.
* VSP Command Staff will respond to the scene.
* VSP Marine Patrol is deployed on Lake Champlain from our St Albans, Williston, and New Haven barracks.
* Directed patrols are occurring along the Lake Champlain border, checking on seasonal residences and camps.
* Any suspicious person(s), camp burglaries, or trespass incidents reported will have an increased response.
* The Vermont Intelligence Center is in direct contact with the New York State Intelligence Center for information sharing.

The Vermont State Police will do everything in its power to protect Vermonters lives and property, and assist New York authorities in the safe apprehension of these two escapees. If you have any information that could lead to the location or capture of these individuals, call 911 immediately.

I have a feeling their helper on the inside was supposed to pick them up and take them so far - it couldn't be too far as it would raise suspicions about her whereabouts - at that point someone else was supposed to pick them up. I think they were headed on foot to that distination and it was probably only an hour away. That is where they would be headed on foot. JMO I bet she had a day off the day they came out of that pipe.

Yeah, I think she chickened out once she realized they were actually going to be successful.

The scary thing now is she has to worry about them harming her now.
Because they may feel she double crossed them by not following through on giving them a ride if that was the plan.
They will be mad at her too for talking with LE about all she knows about them.

So what sounded like a good idea to her at the time has now come full circle to where she is the one having panic attacks and having to be worried about being harmed by them.

In fact for safety reasons, she probably should never go back to her job if LE lets her go. Because other inmates may feel she double crossed the 2 inmates and even a different inmate may harm her.

Note to Self.....Dont befriend prisoners if I ever find myself working in a jail or prison.

This is quite the crazy amazing breakout. Definitely movie material. I really hope nobody gets hurt as they get desparate. LE needs to make a clean arrest quickly.

I'd like a valid link showing these two were on the honor block. No way a cop killer and a wired sociopath would be on honor block.

I believe they were on the honor block because it makes sense. Being housed on the honor block tier comes with looser restrictions, more liberties and much more freedom to move about the prison. Thus enabling them to carry out their escape plan without prison guards breathing down their necks quite so much. If they actually weren't on the honor block tier which comes with those special privileges, prison guards would have said "Hey, what the heck are you doing roaming around outside your cell and on the honor block tier?" If they weren't on the honor block tier they would have had limited, if any, privileges and not had the ability to move about the prison so freely. And nobody from the prison has disputed it. IMO

BIB - I wonder if this info about Vermont came from the POI/prison tailor/girlfriend. They must be using every interrogation strategy in the book with her by now to get her to talk if she still hasn't lawyered up yet.

I'm also wondering about the phone calls made to people associated with Matt from her phone. Have LE located and questioned these people yet? They obviously all have a planned role in this escape.

Exactly! This was one of the most revealing images I've ever seen on twitter, because it allows us to see the absolute dichotomy for ourselves.

It's like a Wolf in Sheep's clothing, to the Nth Degree, with flowery penmanship to boot. I sometimes sit here, and just shake my head in awe at the details of this case.

Might as well continue to hold onto hope that this could all come to a resolution without anyone being harmed. Considering how mind-boggling things have been thus far, I'm going for the outlier outcome.

That's just where I'm at...
