That's a good question. I know there's a lot of wild life out there but I'd think it'd be relatively easy to tell what was human compared to a deer or a bear or something. But what do I know? Not much about that kind of thing.

(thinking out loud) I think it's time to start a tweeting campaign to the people who are covering this the most - CNN anchors - because they keep reporting the same things as breaking news due to not knowing what else to talk about in regards to this situation, IMO. I've had some success with that before... tweeting questions and hearing them get asked later. Worth a shot anyhow.

We probably have a lot of people with good questions here who could contribute.

Breaking news on CNN, the dogs also traced their scent to a Subway sandwich chop, LE speculates they were looking in the dumpster for food. I turned to that at the last minute so maybe someone else caught the specifics.

ETA: CNN is showing some tv show now so I put TWCNews.com back on (well the tv version but you know the drill, same thing is available online and they have reporters with twitter handles that include the phrase TWCNews that can be utilized as well). Don't know if anything new will turn up but if so I'll update, as I'm sure others will.

What Subway shop? Did they say? The only ones I know of in the area are in Plattsburgh, Dannemora and Champlain. . The one in Dannemora is right by the prison. The ones in Plattsburgh would put them on the interstate and the one in Champlain is right on the border. It's the last exit before Canada.

I caught a report on that. If memory serves me I believe it was stated the weather would hamper. Rain, fog. Now I'm not clear if they meant helicopters would not fly or it affected the radar? Not sure how infrared works if they were holed up in an empty cabin either.

This is weird. I was searching for an article online talking about the dogs finding their scent at the subway in dannemora but instead came across this older article which has no new news, but DOES have a comment regarding that same subway down in the 'comments' section...

If anyone feels so inclined I would like someone to turn this in as a tip, since I don't know how necessarily or want to make a phone call to do so. They keep saying to let them know any little thing because you never know what will give them the break they need.

So how old are these scent trails? They could be from A few days ago couldn't they?

GGE... Dumpster diving in a populated area... somethin's gotta give soon. Tsarnaev was found hiding... just one block outside of the initial designated search area... when Boston's search first began after the MIT shooting.

I live in rural NYS. Within the past 12 years - we've had 2 prisoners hiding in the woods scenarios. Ralph Bucky Phillips was on the run for 4 months. It ended badly with an officer being shot and killed - as the officer crawled up a hill to reach Bucky. The searches were a terrible joke. Many of the officers wore their dress shoes and spent most of their time on the roads stopping vehicles.

The 2nd prisoner walked off a road project at Allegany State Park. Everyone surmised that because he was from Puerto Rico that the woods with bears and coyotes would kill him and that he would not survive more than a week or two. Actually he was found many months later in a trailer/camp and would raid some of the local houses for food etc. But it was probably 6 months later - he made it through winter. One of the police search barracks was set-up within view of the trailer/camp. So he watched them every day. The officers were on my road for days. They searched by sitting in their running cars, at the end of driveways, with their lights off - waiting for him to walk down the road without street lights etc. You could hear the cars running ... it was absurddd.
I do not have any faith that they will be caught as a result of the search efforts but of course I hope I am wrong.

they seem to be very confused about that angle. Some say all the rain is a problem and just now they are saying the scent is from the night they broke out.

Depends on the dog as well. The handler knows the dog and capability, they're all different.
