They are enjoying Sweat's birthday cake in someone's getaway retreat cabin.? I do hope they are in the area, but after 9 days it just doesn't seem that way. Let today be the day. Happy birthday, Dave. JMO

I'm shocked that DS is only 35 years old  I thought he was much older. Prison sure takes a toll.

I think JM has narcissistic personality disorder. She thinks she is really special. NPD don't mind lying. They can lie with a straight face and tell outrageous lies. I am not sure anythng she says can be believed.

The cell ohones have to be charged. They need money, They need food.

I imagine upstate NY has plenty if summer homes that are not opened yet.

What do the criminals know of upstate New York?

Does anyone know when area schools were scheduled to close for the summer? Due to the harsh winter, I assume that there were a number of snow days causing schools to close for several days or more. In that case, some days would need to be made up to comply with state attendance regulations. While many students might be enjoying the early summer hiatus, I'm sure administrators/teachers would prefer to have children finish the school year on a more positive note. :moo:

I can name at least 50 houses in that general area that are vacant/abandoned, plus all of the seasonal homes that are only visited every few weeks. I am so glad not to be working in that area anymore. I was never fearful of my job, but I would not be able to do it properly right now - nope - I would not be walking into any vacant house.

I wonder if LE has even used heat sensing equipment. You would think that if they had Matt & Sweat would already have been found if they were still in the area.

I'm beginning to think that LE has put too much faith in what JM told them. If she helped the prisoners escape she would definitely be capable of lying.

Yeah we saw on local news a few days ago, at least 3-4 days ago if not 5, that they were using head seeking equipment. I'll keep looking for a link, which is thus far eluding me.

JMO - if the plan was to have her DRIVE them 7 hours, they weren't planning to cross any international borders. JMO.

As far as she knew, the "plan" was to go to Vermont. IMO that's what they told her the plan was, but I don't think that was really Matt and Sweat's plan. And her plan was not just to help them, but also to leave her husband for them. What an idiot.

A law enforcement source on Saturday said that during two interrogations that lasted hours, Mitchell confessed to her role and described their plans in detail. She told investigators she was going to drive the escapees to Vermont and hide together in an undisclosed cabin. She was planning to leave her husband, Lyle, who is a maintenance worker at the prison, the source said.

Does anyone know which agency is in charge of the search. Is it state police, FBI, Homeland Security, or who? I'm starting to have visions of some 'Wheel' sitting up in an ivory tower calling the shots rather than those more knowledgeable about conducting such a search.

Not sure about ultimately in charge but they're all involved (the ones you mentioned).

"All week, residents have been urged to report anything that seems out of place.

"You keep your hopes up thinking they'll have them, and then not so much," said Clinton County resident Jason Desso. "Then they try another spot. I was hoping the heat-sensors we heard they were using would find them.""

So far that's all I can find in MSM, and it sounds like HEARSAY so far. So i'm noting it as such for now. But when I saw it on tv it was an official person being interviewed that said they were using it FWIW.

I am praying hard that these killers have not broken into a cabin/home and keeping someone hostage.
They will kill again, no doubt in my mind.
TV news had reported that neither have outdoor survival skills, unless they studied on the computer?
IMOO, they had more help on the outside than just JM.
Did either have girlfriends or family???

Sweat's mom still lives in Binghamton but his ex-girlfriend who turned him into LE and got him put away for life, I'm not sure about. And today's his birthday! Wonder if he went home to see someone for nostalgia's sake?

Maybe that's the problem. Department heads are probably having a turf war while those poor LE on the ground are out there working their butts off.

A perfect storm!!!!
I do not agree that they stood her up, I do believe she stood them up and fear got the best of her. I could not understand why if ....she brought in the tools on May 1st it took so long for them to move on the escape. In this article it states that she was separated from her inmate during the investigation....I think that put the brakes on for them, they needed her for that four wheel drive...they were not done using her yet. So, once it was over, he was placed back in her tailor shop and it all went down...that is not to say they were not busy, filing, sawing, hole punching etc while waiting for him to have full access to her once again. Nope they were not done with her.

And I am sickened that they did not put her on Administrative Leave during this IA investigation concerning a relationship with an inmate. She should have been walked out immediately. Investigation, Polygraphs, Cell Searches, Inmate Strip Searches, Shake downs, Mail read of inmates, Phone records, Tapes of interactions viewed...the list goes on...What were they thinking...makes me so mad....IMHO

The article states she didn't give them the tools until after she was cleared in the investigation.

Mitchell told investigators she smuggled the tools into the prison more than a month ago, around the time the internal probe of her and the inmate was determined to be unfounded. Clinton County District Attorney Andrew Wylie on Friday acknowledged the internal investigation resulted in Mitchell and one of the inmates being temporarily separated at work until the investigation ended.

On Thursday, a reporter asked Cuomo if he was "embarrassed or chagrined" by the prison escape or if "heads (will) roll" at the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, which falls under the executive branch.

"There's nothing to be embarrassed about," Cuomo said. "It's the first escape (from the maximum-security portion) since 1865. That's not a bad record, and we don't know exactly what happened here to know that we need systemic change."

That is my guess right now.

I think they found a small cabin or small house and are holed up in it.

Most cabins usually have at least a little long storage food left in them. Things like canned food or some type of food staples that dont spoil. At a minimum, it could have water supply for drinking water.

I am also afraid if they found one with people in it, they maybe holding them hostage.

I dont think LE would be breaking down all the doors of all the cabins in the area. So all the escapees have to do is make sure nobody moves or makes a noise if LE came to the door.

I think LE approach is basically wait until they get a report of a sighting because LE knows they will have to make a move at some point. The flaw in that plan is if the 2 escapees managed to find a nicely stocked cabin, they could stay in something like that for a very very very long time.

I am afraid it may be awhile at this point if the escapees managed to find a nicely stocked cabin.
