Maybe, but he wasn't there. The "source" was. All the DA has is what Tillie has claimed and denied.

The con stated on first interview this morn that he never saw them having sex; Sweat never admitted that he did and that is what he believes now

I believe that she engaged in sexual acts with Matt, but not Sweat

But even so, where was the CO who is supposed to be stationed with civilian employee and inmates at all times in the Tailor Shop?

Well I just got home and wanted to say YOU'RE WELCOME. Because as usual, I leave and all kinds of stuff happens! So they arrested and charged Palmer with destroying evidence (painting/s) and stuff, he let them access the catwalk, what else? I need to post, refresh, and read for probably the rest of the night.. oh brother.. !

Interesting that Palmer passed lie detector test. Maybe they didn't ask him the right questions??? I'd think some deception would have been detected.

I have noticed the only thing being reported and claimed by his attorney has been that he passed a lie detector test specifically regarding knowing what was inside the meat. Nothing else. No one has said he passed a lie detector test about anything like knowing about the escape, or providing them with any other contraband, or giving them a cabin address...only Tillie's meat.

Former Deputy Warden, Ed Gavin, NYC DOC:

They are cons: course, they want to escape

She's a civilian; he's a CO--a peace officer

He's a CO, he has more training

Why would he even do that in first place: accept the frozen meat from Tillie, but report to supervisor & make the arrest right there & all this would have been prevented

This is HUGE folks, imagine if someone dies while this is going down??

Why? It's just a criminal who happened to do time at CCF with Matt and Sweat and worked with them at the tailor shop under Tilly's tutelage.

Not surprising a criminal got out and stole more stuff IMO. Doesn't mean anything IMO. Surely lots of people who were in got out and committed more crimes. It's just what they do, hence the term "career criminal". JMO

ETA - Rhinebeck is down by Poughkeepsie and the city, the chances of someone getting shipped upstate to Clinton for smalltime theft of copper tubing for the purpose of scrapping seems very unlikely to me JMO. He's nowhere near Clinton now, can hardly get any further to the other end of the state.

Actually, distance from home doesn't necessarily factor into which prison a newly convicted inmate gets sent to. Other factors, such as security risk (escape risk, and also likelihood prisoner will be violent IN the prison), and any medical or psychological conditions, as well as where there's room all factor in. After a prisoner is in for awhile, and behaving themselves, they can request a transfer to a facility nearer their home. Clinton is quite far away from the Buffalo area, where Matt was from.

I'm sorry but this is just funny.
They couldn't have had sex because there was always a guard there!
Uh huh... right. They also couldn't have tools, weapons and contraband.
Yes, they investigated the situation and also missed the planned escape!
Clearly the investigation wasn't very thorough and procedures were not followed.

These attorneys really need to think about what they are saying given the situation.

www.cnn.com/2015/06/24/us/new-york-prison-break/index.html

Mitchell's attorney, Steve Johnston, said that while he hadn't spoken with his client about this allegation, she has told investigators and him that she did not have sex with Sweat.

"Furthermore, it would seem that such an allegation defies credibility since it is my understanding that there is always at least one corrections officer within the tailor/sewing shop at all times when any inmate is in the shop,"
Johnson told CNN's Brian Todd.

Johnston added that he thinks the department of corrections investigated the relationship between Sweat and Mitchell, and "found no evidence of any such conduct."

I doubt he would've beaten a polygraph (though it's possible he passed it by dumb luck or maybe I'm just underestimating him), so probably he did just get fooled into helping them and didn't realize what he was doing. JMO

27 years on the job?

Their hot plates were broken and he provided them with tools to fix the electrical probs?

Their hot plates were broken and he took them numerous times on to the catwalk to do electrical repairs?

Tillie coerced him into bringing the meat to Matt (without scanning) by giving him baked goods bc she manipulated other COs the same way?

He accepted paintings from Matt. Big deal. So what?

Bridge for Sale. I'm selling. Any takers?

I didn't hear anything on AC about why Palmer destroyed evidence (the painting). Did they say?

Did he get rid of it because he didn't want to be linked to Matt?

He obviously got rid of it before he was questioned on Friday because they had a search warrant to search his house for it. I don't remember how investigators knew he had one though. Anyone remember?

He's gotta be connected to that cabin. That is just TOO random.

When Tillie's convicted and serves prison time, she'll publish a series of cookbooks: Tillie's Tantalizing Tidbits. Tillie's Titillating Treats. Tillie's Toothsome Tarts. :D

What time is his arraignment? I wonder if it'll be televised.
