As a homicide survivor, I am angry after reading all the privileges granted to these two murderers. I understand there are those groups on the outside that fight for prisoner rights and rehabilitation and humane treatment. Neither of these two showed humane treatment to their victims.

IMO the employees that helped these two escape lost sight of why these murderers were incarcerated in the first place. Yes, I am jaded and I have no sympathy. It is my hope that these two murderers are caught ASAP and put somewhere they never see the light of day, ever again. I have no idea what the payoff was for Palmer or Tillie, but they belong behind bars too. IMO

I hear you! Matt tortured that old man before he snapped his neck. Both of them were repeat offenders. I'm really hoping that right now those two guys are hungry, cold and wet, are being plagued by black flies, have blisters on their feet and a bad case of poison ivy, and the runs from whatever they've been eating and drinking. And then that they run into a really angry she-bear.

Been thinking about how killers knew where steam pipe was located and think that the contractors working at the prison that kept their tools and tool boxes there probably had blueprints in the tool boxes for doing their work. The blueprints would have location of cells and mechanical equipment.

Article released late last nite re Palmer:

<snip>

The official briefed on the case, who is not authorized to comment publicly, said investigators are probing whether Palmer unwittingly assisted the escapees by giving them tools. The official said the escapees may have duped Palmer into providing the tools by repeatedly tripping a breaker that fed electricity to their cells and telling the officer they could fix the problem with simple hand tools.

During their breakout, which authorities said took months of planning, the inmates hot-wired electrical lights in the bowels of the prison, behind their cells, to provide power to some of the tools they used to cut their way out of the facility. It's unclear if any tools that may have been provided by Palmer or any other correction officer were used in those efforts.

I wonder if he destroyed the paintings because the paintings were used as currency by Matt- he gave them to people in exchange for things. What did Palmer do in exchange for the paintings I wonder? JMO

AC360:

Arraignment this eve; "shortly"

Palmer rec'd Several paintings and/or drawings from Matt which he destroyed

Investigators are at prison right now

Investigating Matt's "painting proclivities" and who gave paintings to

Quid quo pro? Believe he gave many paintings out

Yes.

More than a dozen investigators from the New York State Inspector General’s office are at the Clinton Correctional Facility investigating possible breaches of security protocols that allowed Matt and Sweat to escape, a state law enforcement official said.

The investigators are going through visitor logs and documents related to prisoner and employee movements at the jail, the official said.

 • #533
Erik Jensen (former prisoner) is saying on AC Sweat drew the pictures. I think he said Matt painted them.

Holy manoodles. I just got home a bit ago and caught up. Thanks for the updates. I do have to say in defense of the dogs and searchers we have the information of how many millions of acres these people are searching. Under harsh conditions and terrain. I admire their dedication. I dont question it. I just needed to say that.

Sweat and Mitchell often flirted, Jensen told CNN.

“It would be (like) when the cute guy at the high school asks the girl to prom and the look on her face every day when they would get together,” Jensen said. “They would laugh, giggle — conversations all day long.”

Mitchell and Sweat would go to the back of the tailor room to count garments, he said, adding that inmates could get bonuses for producing more than a quota required.

“It was a running joke inside the tailor shop that (Mitchell) was his ‘boo,'” Jensen said.

She sometimes brought him tattoo or art supplies and food that inmates couldn’t get inside the prison, Jensen said.

She often mingled with the other inmates and sometimes brought doughnuts. Some viewed her as a grandmother figure, he said.

Mitchell “used to always treat” Sweat well, Jensen added, saying that inmates believed they were having sex. Sweat wouldn’t join other inmates when they went to eat, he said. “He’d stay back with her in the tailor shop.”

I think Erik just said that Sweat drew the paintings and Matt passed Sweat's paintings off as his own
