The babies were found at about 3:10 p.m. Thursday after a relative asked police to check the apartment in the Woodside Houses at 51st Street at 32nd Avenue, police said.

Kilpatrick has been charged with two counts each of first and second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

We need more care for young mothers who are overwhelmed. I remember with one of my non sleeping babies, sitting on the end of the bed and crying due to sleeplessness and a feeling of incompetence. I was 20 years old.

Oh my goodness, I do too! I had four babies under the age of five at 24 years old. I was away in another state away from any family. I only had a few friends and my husband to help. I remember crying and hiding away in a closet - I grabbed a pencil and a piece of paper and discovered the therapeutic gift of journaling. I was luckier than most in my same situation I think. I was mentally strong though emotionally shattered at times per my backstory. I wrote myself out of depression and the chaos of my life. While writing, I separated my thoughts into counting my blessings. Glass half full kind of thing...
